You put your heart and soul into something beautiful, only to have someone discard it and say it’s not worthy.
i think this album + the backslide quote "kind of wishing that i never did saturday" goes together, they kind of go together, people hated sai because it was tilted towards the pop side, and tyler said saturday was one of his favorite projects, but then they got a lot of hate towards sai, also the quote "Now i see that a gesture don't mean much" probably referse that sai was also a project that tyler and josh was happy and hopeful for but unfortunately they got a lot of hate... Kind of hurts my heart knowing this :( (Also pretty sure the "thats a miss" quote also refers the sai album since everyone kind of said it was a pass or a miss album, uh this hurts
i love SAI and shout-out to them for making such a bright and positive album
I live SAI, too, and really appreciate the effort they put in. For me, the miss is on the part of the ppl with poor aim. |-/

...all of that time and energy to put something beautiful, and meaningful to them, together...just to have the "suits" throw it away and disregard it as meaningless...worthless.
I agree with this interpretation. Just to expand slightly, I think it shows them putting all the work in to create something. Then as they get ready to release, they're waiting in anticipation. They hand it off to the "suits" who just quickly load it up and fire it out (putting it on radio/etc for a song). Immediately they judge if it's a hit or miss, and then just say "Next" to let the next person go. Basically demonstrating the artistic side (putting effort and care into something) and the interaction with the corporate side (only care about response in demographics/etc).

@@zack_reacts Heh I started replying to the comment as the end of the video was still playing and had to laugh as you mentioned demographics too :)
This video is basically Chlorine without the harmful side effects. What is interesting is the Chlorine story is told emphasizing the INTERNAL artistic and emotional perspective, that Tyler is emotionally spent living through self-destructive memories for the art. Here it is emphasizing the EXTERNAL view that his art is commodity and disposable. As opposed to the harm of dealing with straight chlorine, besides if he inhales too much paint or Josh slices himself on the saw they really seemed to be focused and content/satisfied making the art. It wasn't until they released it to the ungrateful SOB suits at the end that their emotions seemed to sink.
I also liked the symbolism of Josh and his case being a protector of Tyler and the bullet up until the shot, then Tyler's bullet is just gone without Josh to encase him and he just walks off while Josh can only stand idly.

Yes, well said. Very poignant mv all around. I like the analogy of the industry trying to put them in a box. My first thought was that Josh is drawn to the box, also referred to as drums. He doesn't settle for a plain box, his is intricate and sturdy at the same time. And the box and the shell are made to compliment each other, just as Tyler and Josh go together. I just love everything about this vid and song! ❤|-/💛

What did the guy saying that’s a miss mean? I’ve never seen that competition before and I can’t tell what the goal was
A miss means he didn't hit a flying piece of clay frisbee. It represents (in my mind) a 'miss' as a song missing the mark atop the charts. Like this song wasn't a 'hit'.
