Thank you for sharing. I don't feel so alone. I appreciate the variety genre, light-hearted entertainment, and I enjoy revisiting this Variety Hour (on RUclips) maybe more now than when it first aired. One reason is I now know Bob Reed was largely unhappy filming The Brady Bunch, but grateful for this creative opportunity and challenge. I like the fact the cast made the effort, took a risk. The musical numbers resonated with me. It takes courage, guts to perform for others - on any stage. There are a lot of critics, some within the ranks, that seem to hold their nose viewing, reflecting upon episodes of this series. I'm not swayed. Many critics are paid to be critical. I applaud anyone making the effort versus those who don't even try. There are so many attributes to dancing. I am much more bothered by "entertainment" the likes of Nicholson's Cinderella Man when up for an Academy Award, the clip selected to air at the ceremony only a few selected words (verbs?) were audible, the censor bleeping out the rest. Now that's embarrassing.

So many put this show down; because of disco. My opinion is similar to it’s upbeat and positive. I definitely enjoy it. I was lucky to see Florence in person. She was amazing! I’ve also become FB friends with Geri Reichel. She’s a lovely woman, with a lot of talent. I’ve saved some of these for when I feel down. I also miss the other Variety shows, like Andy Williams and Perry Como. They were fun! Lets Do the Hustle!

I thought this was corny back in the day but I find it wistfully endearing now. I enjoy visiting all of yesteryear's family friendly nostalgia along with many other light hearted fare from far in the past.. Throw in some Soul Train, American Bandstand, Carol Burnett , Sonny and Cher, Donny and Marie and Midnight Special and mix thoroughly. Add a whole lot of Ed Sullivan, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell and Andy Williams. Helps to remember how sunny and silly and cheesy and upbeat we were once upon a time. Especially today in these dark and dire and distressing days.Saccharin sweet marshmallow? Better than bittersweet harsh mallow.

Oh...gods...I am torn between parsing the song and costume choices, the relative abilities of the cast at singing and dancing, the choreography, the 1970's disco Era arrangements...and crying "make it stop!"
Yes, kudos to the cast for going all in and all out in this extravaganza. Now that I have seen it, I am inspired to go all out at doing what I want to do with my life and not watch this again unless I need to be reignited.

Being a "Brady Bunch" fan...growing up, in the day where the show was Prime-Time on Friday nights - I kind of, sort of remember this show. I'm reading the book "Love to Love You Bradys: The Bizarre Story of the Brady Bunch Variety Hour" & it's very entertaining. Especially the photo of Susan Olsen, 'flipping the bird (that was shown on T.V., because of the poor & rushed editing job).

Funny I read that barry Williams was doing this to try and show that he could dance and sing with a lil funkiness for a little move that was just starting to be talked about. This movie was solely to be built around a guy that danced at disco ,um don't know if anyone remembers it was called Saturday night fever.barry's people thought it was great to show how versatile he was ... How he was a natural great dancer..this should have showed the powers that be that rightfully so....he was stiff, and had no rhythm and could not dance groove form. John travolta was the right pick for that move. Barry needs to go and sit down .shamefull , all people have rhythm some whites and some black people have great rhythm ,as some black people and white have no rhythm what so ever and dispell the myth that with blacks -that they all have rhythm,as the myth that white people have no rhythm ..ha ha barry falls into the no rhythm ...this is sad, none of those kids can dance you would think someone could dance in groove with the musi

Several thoughts occur to me while watching this. Did these actors ever get tired of being paired with their same age TV sibling in every song and dance number? If I hadn't know it was produced by Sid and Marty Krofft, I should have guessed from the crazy costumes and colors, especially those poor background dancers. "Fake Jan", aka Geri Reishl, has a good voice. Kudos to them for learning all this choreography and singing while doing it. Just because a song is popular doesn't mean it should be sung on a variety show by a group of singers. Thank God the 70s and their fashions and color combinations are over! I'm kinda glad I didn't see it when I came out, though my younger self may have been more forgiving. Now I'll have to watch an episode to see the storylines. Thanks for this compilation.

She had low self-esteem, yet they go and get this new Jan who sings better than all of them which really throws the whole thing out of proportion because she doesn't belong there to begin with and yet they give her all the big singing parts. It just doesn't make sense, just never really realize that back then because quite frankly, even back then it was really goofy to watch all this musical craziness from BB.
