- this video is about the sheath just as much as the knife. the knife was tested in the usual way, chopping logs, batoning, and feather sticks, and final thoughts.

iv carried and used my webtex survival knife for about twenty years and its never let me down great video mate
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed 💯
These knives were issued as part of a Army vehicle tool kit and not as a survival / fighting knife as such. Very good all purpose knife as designed to be many decades ago, but master of none. I have three but find a lightweight take down tomahawk lighter to carry / pack and would outdo / same as these knives so bigger or thicker is not always better..
@shogun666able there's always some sort of loss or payment with anything. If it's thin and light, it's master of some things, no good at others. It seems you can never win without adding another tooI. It was always the machete that was part of the tool kit with us if I'm remembering correctly when I was in. I didn't really pay much notice to it. I hope you enjoyed the video shogun666able 💯%
That knife is definitely a keeper. I was lucky enough to have an issue one years ago just brown handled, can’t remember where I bought it from. Did everything you needed it for. I think they were the same makers ?
Definitely a keeper, that's partly why I got the sheath. All the designers had to do was put the strap down where the knife went in on the original, and the sheath would be OK. It's easy to do as well. Strap on first before the loop gets fixed down.
That is a really cool knife. I love the bolts in the handle and that thick blade. Where can I get a knife like that?
@DoloresVillatoro-ho5jg I'm sure if you googled genuine mod survival knife, a fair few would come up for sale. Just make sure it's genuine. The sheath in the video was a separate purchase. The sheath that comes with the knife isn't as good as the one in the thumbnail picture. It's known to be a jack of all trades, master of none. Not all people like this knife for that reason. I'm glad you enjoyed 💯 👍
@@Andy-walkaboutnutty I found 1 seller in Canada that has it & specializes in British & Canadian military gear. I ordered 1 with the fiber handle yesterday, I can't wait to get it.
Without a doubt the spine needs some attention! It needs to be 90degrees and sharp to the touch, have a look at a good normal “bushcraft” knife. Obviously in a real situation you don’t want to be wasting calories 😂 ATB from deepest Dorset 👍
I was sure it was going to work because of my webtex mod knife, but hay, that's what the test is for. Lucky enough, I always make sure my fero rods have a steel striker on the other end of the string. They work pretty good as well. I hope you enjoyed the video 👍
6mm is close to 1/4" Andy mate. I have used them quite a bit but never liked them. Nice clean example that though.
I see it as a hatchet in the shape of a knife. Ideally, it still needs a saw, and one of them pen knives with brass ends on the handle with a Bowie blade for fine slices like gutting fish, etc. Do I like it? I have mixed feelings about that. I like it, but it's missing a point on the blade end, and the grinde needs to be a little higher on the side of the blade i think. I understand why people don't like it.
@@Andy-walkaboutnutty the only reason I don't like it is the thickness and handle hotspots. The tool is bombproof, probably literally lol. I've got the Essee 6 and it's not dissimilar in profile just thinner and more refined. Yours is a great example though and the sheath is beautiful. I agree that a large knife can replace an axe on an ordinary camp. Thanks for the videos mate
Are WebTex knives worth the money???
I'd say It's just as good as the genuine issue. I put the rope on the handle, it didn't come with it.
did they change the finish from a grey to q shiny black?
@chillios2222 Yes, it was bought like that. but I'm not sure how it's done. It might be heated red hot and dipped in oil. But I'm not sure.
Mine is from 2000 and it is matt black
@Burtronic for what it is, Matt is probably better.
@@Andy-walkaboutnutty I think so, I got mine when I was in the RN, best stores lottery ever 😂
I use an axe as it is more versatile.
I like axes as well. I enjoy making videos on outdoor stuff I like.
Where can I get that sheath?
