- Join Dr Elena Tuma, a GDC registered dental professional as she explains the details behind the bone grafting procedure.
Dental bone grafting is a standard procedure that aims to correct natural bone deficiency by adding density and volume. This augmentation is done to provide a solid foundation for dental implantation.
Untreated gum disease, dental trauma, tooth extraction or loss are among the most common causes of bone loss.
In order to restore the jaw with a bone graft, a small cut is made in the area where the implant is supposed to be set, then a bone substitute material is inserted. It is a perfectly biocompatible mixture of calcium powder and saline.

How is a sinus lift possible if good teeth are there? How to you insert into the gum to allow the augmentation? Are the teeth extracted?
Dear @J_WheelerDoll30,
We offer different dental treatments for different patients. If you have good teeth, it's possible to have a partial bridge between two healthy teeth.
Bone augmentation is done through our painless surgery, where an incision is made and filled with compactible organic bone.
Teeth are extracted only if need be, healthy teeth will not be extracted and we will work around the remaining teeth to provide a glowing smile.
If you have anymore questions, please feel free to call our service centre.
Kind regards,
Dentaprime UK Team
