I am 84 years old and have seen many fads/trends come and go. Wear what you like, wear what you feel comfortable in, wear what looks good on you and wear what you can afford. Have no concern about what someone else thinks. Cheryl
Thanks for the updated info. I’m glad I live in a small town, because I really don’t want to update my wardrobe as often as the fashion industry suggests. I tend to wear things that I like, and what I feel good wearing. It’s nice to see the new trends, however I don’t feel compelled to always look super stylish!
I think 90% of the time that is us but for that 10% when we want to impress or look current its good to know what to look out for. Also i find that during that 10% i notice that my outfit choice then makes me look younger .
I live in a big city and I've also been wearing the same favourite items for several years, and I don't seem to find anything I like in the shops at the moment. Everything I see looks shabby and is made of polyester....
I just thrifted an amazing notch neck ESCADA light wool blazer for $30, and back on trend! I find drop shoulder sweaters/tops make my narrow shoulders and muscular arms look wider, and classic fit cardigans slim me down, and look rich, and not cheap as all those polyester/acrylic/viscose cheap, blended materials that simply pill with a couple of washes. Quality has really gone down sadly, so I thrift most of my clothing, especially amazing, vintage pieces!
Style is a personal thing. I wear clothes that make me look and feel amazing. I don't follow rules or trends. There are too many YOU TUBE channels telling women what is frumpy, outdated, and not trending. I watch some of these channels, in the end, I make my own decision on what looks great on ME.
The most flattering jeans cut is and always will be, high waisted bootcut, sometimes called fitted flare. Hard to find, but search them out, sometimes Zara makes them. If you can't find those, second best choice is straight cut with a good fit.
I love reading the comments. I am 57 yrs old and due to health conditions I mostly wear cotton t shirts and linen or cotton trouers that fits loosely. I do not follow any fashion and with increased cost of clothes buy very little. The mania of trying to look younger is madness. The reality is that the majority of over 50 year olds do not follow fashion, because they are to busy with real world challenges.
I do understand. I’ve learned that some of the comfy tees are really quite cute oversized and knotted at the hem. I especially like taking my longer, and looser, tee knit dresses and knotting them at hem on one side. The knotted tank styles are really cute worn with a long sleeve linen over shirt. Take care now, and you do you!
I appreciate being kept updated of what’s in fashion but I do agree with a previous comment it is more important to wear what feels and looks good on you personally if you don’t do that you never really develop your own style .
I agree. In addition, the biggest factor for me is that millions are suffering (myself included) with high cost of living including home energy costs, petrol, food costs that are skyrocketing. I don't think I care much about being in style as much as I'm concerned about being warm this winter.
I’ve got the first jumper and was worried I needed a smaller size but am pleased that it’s being worn slightly large as I find this more comfortable. I also wear straight leg jeans as I’ve never got on with jeggins Yippee, I’m on trend at 81!
What would be more useful would be to show how to style things that are 'considered' unfashionable - because it's totally possible. There are no bad clothes, just bad styling.
I think all these things are relative. I can’t imagine putting on some of these outfits on a Saturday to get groceries and do all sorts of errands. As far as cardigans they are a go to for me in the spring and fall as my workplace temperature can fluctuate during the day. I have a job that requires a lot of movement and cardigans are so much more comfortable than a blazer or a lady jacket.
I like those collared sweaters but I don't have any in my wardrobe and I'm trying to wear what I already have. I do have lots of V-neck sweaters and button down cardigans. When are those coming back? I'll put it on my calendar. Fortunately I work in a place where style never seems to enter the door so I will be OK. No one will notice even if I do wear a collared sweater. Maybe Costco will pick up on some of these trends and I will throw them in the cart with the bacon and Rotisserie chicken.
I watched your video this morning and decided styling not ditching is what's required, so wore my short green cashmere crew neck cardigan French style as a sweater with a ribbed vest under, jeans and boots. Tomorrow I'll wear my V neck jumper under a linen shirt.
love your videos but re; skinny jeans, they are the best for knee boots. I have too hard of a time even trying to tuck straight leg jeans into my boots.
Now that I am 60 I have more motivation to wear the current styles. I also have more time to plan my shopping than when I was younger. I watched your video, looked around at the shops, purchased some items. I then reviewed your video again and may return to the store to purchase some other items. I am generally a lot happier with the purchases that I make and feel better prepared to dress for my day. My adult daughters even comment that I am looking good. Thank you for your videos, I enjoy watching them.
I feel that my previous comment was too negative! I honestly love your videos, and I want to see what’s trending, so please know I appreciate the time and efforts you put into your content. At this time in my life, (I’m retired, and mostly caretaking for mom and grandchildren), so stylish outfits are not as important! Your variety of topics and outfits are always great! I’m constantly give you thumbs up! Thanks for what you share!
I love your videos to help us keep up to date. I think we all have to decide what we feel most comfortable with. I will keep all my sweaters and cardigan. They coming in and out of style
Cardigans, whether crew-neck or V-neck, are classics but we can style them in a contemporary way. Ditto the pullovers. And although “lady jackets” (or Chanel-style jackets) are on trend, they are not always flattering since the lower hem cuts across the waist - often an area we don’t want to emphasize. Also, anything that is too tight or clingy is never flattering or chic no matter how trendy they may or may not be. I want people to remember that I looked classy and confident, and not what I wore.
I agree with your comment. Classic never dies. You can wear classic clothing but slightly change how they are styled. So tired of all bloggers advices "wear that, but not that"
I’ve taken my nice “frumpy granny” slim cardigans and found a new style! It is so fun and cute. I simply button it as a blouse (wearing a nude cami underneath), leaving a few buttons undone at bottom. Then, I gently pull the bottom of one side over to the opposite side and do a loose French type tuck into waistband of skirt or trousers. I then cross and tuck the other side over and do the same. I leave the back untucked so that it drapes in a pretty curve. It is a new way to update what I already own. My classic cameo pink cashmere cardigan with pearl buttons is beautiful and trendy enough paired with my grey flannel pencil skirt and pumps.
I love these videos. Just this year I’ve cleaned the whole closet and updated my basics, like the v neck sweater-example . It was weird initially but I feel,so much more together and confident. I might be an old lady, but I can be a stylish old lady! 🎉 also a trip to the Chanel counter every milestone birthday
To many fashion statement s become gluteny for me personally only buying and replacing what I need wearing all my clothes up never parting with my classics but enjoyed ideas thanks x
Early 50s here. I just today bought another vneck sweater, but don't wear them tightly. I usually wear them with a collared shirt, chunky necklace or scarf and more form fitting pants. It's very flattering on my frame. Best to all! Thank you for your great ideas and insight!
Thanks for sharing! I have a video coming out today showing more sweaters and how I will be trying to wear them this winter. Hope you can catch it later today.
Who has the budget these days to spend on cheaply made clothes that are actually ugly and do not make real women look better? We should not be brainwashed into falling for “new” fashion. Every fashion comes and goes around. Simply keep timeless pieces and don’t fall for every “new” trend.
Just wondering if you could advise - I am 60. I have a couple linen shirt dresses - what's the right length ? My legs are still decent above the knee but I thought these are longer maybe. They are sleeveless. I am short - 5 feet even. Love your channel. Thank you - Trisha
Love the channel. Just an aside, don`t you think the "sleeve epaulettes" on that lady-jacket have been fastened the wrong way? The straps usually go round the outside of your wrists, not inside. Just being picky. Lol.
I was not crazy about her jacket. I did not care for the buttons or the epaulettes on the shoulders and the sleeves. It seems like the ones on the sleeves would catch on things. Cheryl
How pleased I was to watch this....I'm a lady of the same age and I have already ticked all those boxes....the side striped trousers good old M & S....so hurrah I am totally up to date......what jacket/cardigan would you wear with these trousers....love your straight talking....regards Jane North Wales 😀 😊
It's funny, because I just watched several channels where they said upmarket joggers, think banana republic, are very in style! Sometimes it's confusing to receive conflicting information!? I love all of the other recommendations you spoke about! Cheers!
I don’t think items are on trend because they are more up market or expensive and the cheap version isn’t. Shape is the trend not the Price or outlet. I think we are over the lockdown jogger shapeless item. Also what’s in and out on yt might not be in or out in your town so take it all with a pinch of salt and overlay your social circle to the info.
I am with so many others here - wear what makes you happy. Style isn't about trends, it's about you being you. Personally, I really dislike how those square jackets, like the one you are wearing. To me, they scream old person regardless of the age of the person wearing it. But they 'on trend'. I don't have one and never will. I also dislike the 'oversize' loose look. It always looks to me like the person doesn't know their size. But if someone loves that look - by golly - wear it!
Really interesting thank you. In my efforts to improve my own style I’m noticing a lot more what others are wearing out and about and there are some really stylish people out there!
Honestly, I try to avoid buying trendy clothes unless it's something I really like and can't find in other years. That's because I don't want something that's going to be outdated in a year or two. In fact, I have mixed feelings about styles I like becoming trendy. On the one hand, I can finally buy them, but on the other hand, it's now pegged with the year it became trendy. Sigh.
I agree, but I would be satisfied if things I spend money on would stay in style for a year at least! I bought joggers from banana republic at another Influencers' recommendation and now apparently they are out, and that only lasted couple months!! Lol
I would wear them still because most likely in your town and community the chances are people don't know whats in and out so wear them and style them with a collared pullover maybe.
There are so many women at age 55 and more looking outdated. I don't want to match. I want to show that I'm participating to the modern life. But of course I don't want to look "trying hard" and I don't jump on every trend, just a few. Every year I buy a few pieces for an update of my wardrobe.
Thank you for all the US links! I love the side stripe trouser and lady jackets. I'm still keeping my V-neck sweaters because they are very flattering on me. Collars look horrible on me, so that's a skip for me. Loved the video!
Just wondering what to wear with the sequined vest top. I was thinking black, either a skirt or trousers. NowI have seen a cream faux leather skirt but is that too young for the over fifties?
Those round neck cardigans look great layered like a lace trimmed vest underneath and a cool scarf. I think there are too many rules and we should be updating the look not chucking things out!
As far as cardigans are concerned, I’ve noticed that they’re being worn slightly tucked in or completely tucked in. They are a little looser but tucked in looks up to date. So maybe a way to still wear a cardi just a tad updated?
Everybody is an expert. We wear what. We like and what. Looks good. Not what the fashion industry w ants us to. Wear . They are. In. It for. The. Mon ey. A lot of trash is being created by those designers
The great social media fashion dilemma. Yes real world v social media. Like you I see no relation between the updates I bring you and my town. I wonder how the info i glean and tell you is first devised. Should I say this? Yes because there’s one thing being aware of updates and another positively deciding it doesn’t apply in your town.
Partly the appearance is how ive pushed the sleeves up but the trim is outside and under instead of outside top which is not usual. The website shows the trim around the outside. As mine is promotional it might be a second. It won't stop me wearing it 😅
The white sleeveless knit top/pants look is in the Zeitgeist, as are a number of looks as Meghan wore them to great acclaim (loads of fashion magazines/bloggers) recently, but also your excellent channel obvs.
Nice to see trends but with the price of fuel I’d rather wear something that was going to keep me warm, that we short jacket would look awful on an apple shape.
I don't see the leather looking pants listed here. The ones you have on in the very beginning. Can I have the link please and can you tell me how tall you are?
I do love your channel, and your insights and guidance, but I'm not on board with the collared v-neck jumper. You said "it's going to be around for a couple of years" - I want more than 2 years out of my clothes, and I think it will look very dated when it's no longer on trend. Plus it's limited in what you can wear with it, compared to a conventional v-neck, collared shirts underneath, jacket on top, I think it even restricts what necklaces can be worn. Looking at them on sites like Lilysilk, the collared jumpers look cheaper than the conventional ones. They're a no thanks from me.
Trends generally last 2 years but some are just staples. Im getting collared jumpers now whilst there's choice but intend to wear for years as i don't think it will date. Its classic in its way.
Women probably learn to obey, not express an opinion or have self-confidence thanks to fashion: it's always full of imperatives without explanation: you must wear this, you must not wear that, everybody this season will wear this etc... Frankly, it's enough to want to start a revolution!
I disagree with you on “Lady Jackets”. What makes them on-trend is that the YOUNG have borrowed them from older ladies and hence have made them cool BECAUSE of their youth. Much like “mom jeans”, moms shouldn’t be wearing them as they are uncool on them (besides being out of style now).
Modern Fashion? I'm so relieved that gone are the days of wearing your skirt 2 inches below Your knees... Then 2 inches above your knees the next year All lengths acceptable! Actually ...WEAR WHAT YOU WANT!
I agree with you that the first so called "classic" sweater is no longer a good look. However, I personally never buy a collared V neck as I do not like the look. Rosie 👩🦳 74 🇨🇦
The jacket you’re wearing has been a Talbots staple for decades. Nothing will age you faster than the “upscale stores for women of a certain age.” I’m 70 and wear my wide leg jeans with 3 inch heel boots. If you’re comfortable in your own skin, you can wear more stylish clothes than that sleeveless sweater vest.
I am 84 years old and have seen many fads/trends come and go. Wear what you like, wear what you feel comfortable in, wear what looks good on you and wear what you can afford. Have no concern about what someone else thinks. Cheryl
I agree. The lady jacket will be dated so fast and so will the pants with the slit in the front. Plus, personally I don't think there very attractive.
Very well put!
Kindness, Teresa
So absolutely spot on.
I agree wholeheartedly! Long live hair dye as i look so washed out with dull ‘see-through’ grey hair🤣

If your v-neck sweater shows your bulging upper arms and/or stomach, it’s too small. Not necessarily outdated.
A looser fit is more modern rather than the tight fit that I am refering to. A collar is not necessary, just a looser V neck fit.

Nice to see trends but with the price of fuel I’d rather wear something that was going to keep me warm, that we short jacket would look awful on an apple shape.
Darn, I actually want one of those "nothing" jackets to wear in the office, but I can't find one anywhere!
Yes perfect for the office as they are unstructured so you can work and look smart. If I come across one I'll let you know
I wear mixture keeping cardigans but I wear them up lol have jacket s tapered
I don't see the leather looking pants listed here. The ones you have on in the very beginning.
Can I have the link please and can you tell me how tall you are?
I’m 5ft 2 . I’ll look for the trousers
Thank you! They are very cute

I am barely getting by these days, certainly can't afford new clothes just to be stylish. I have always worn what I loved.
Those leather pants look great on you
Thank you
I am sorry but v-neck with a collar looks very old lady style to me. Just do the v-neck oversized, no collar needed.
Straight cut jean fine not buying any at the moment
Hi Anna Louise I know what you mean about jumpers tight all over yeah a bit looser is better like the video
I wear dance pants blouse cardi round waist Voila
Don't buy into trends if they are not flattering, just ride out the storm
I dont like shapeless jumpers....i prefer Princess of wales looks.
I don't like shapeless either. Skimming is what i look for.
Women probably learn to obey, not express an opinion or have self-confidence thanks to fashion: it's always full of imperatives without explanation: you must wear this, you must not wear that, everybody this season will wear this etc... Frankly, it's enough to want to start a revolution!
Skinnys still in like them still wide trousers only look good with heels sorry to say
And skinny jeans are perfect to wear with knee high boots!
I disagree with you on “Lady Jackets”. What makes them on-trend is that the YOUNG have borrowed them from older ladies and hence have made them cool BECAUSE of their youth. Much like “mom jeans”, moms shouldn’t be wearing them as they are uncool on them (besides being out of style now).
joggers are running shoes not pants - you mean track pants
Modern Fashion?
I'm so relieved that gone are the days of wearing your skirt 2 inches below
Your knees...
Then 2 inches above your knees the next year
All lengths acceptable!
Actually ...WEAR WHAT YOU WANT!
There are many influencers showing fashion joggers. I for one do not care for those wide leg track pants. They look like PJs imo.
Fashion joggers are great . The lockdown lazy dressing ones we are over 😀
No thanks to the wide leg pants.
Well..those wide pants...no.
I always think- stay away from escalators!
Oh, no. I just lost 40 pounds and weigh what I did at 30. Don't tell me it's time to hide my body now.
Im in the same boat but no I'm not hiding my body. Showing the waist is a good strategy for us
Sorry really do not like your white lady jacket - boxy and unflattering !😢
While I agree with some of the things you’re saying, I do think you’re way too consumed with what’s trendy
cardigans? Yuck
