    Congratulations, Lars! That's a great bang for the buck. These ATV's together with MTLB's and GTT's are the workhorses of the Russian geological survey, oil and gas companies. Taking into account that the vehicle was decommissioned by the oil company, its techniocal condition is rather good. Besides, the entire design is tough as hell, it's got no electronics and other modern stuff like that. Instead, it's field-repairable, easy to maintain, simple and reliable, of course after having been first fixed and maintained by you. Another good news is that spare parts, including the turbine, should not be a problem. I'm sure you'll get repairs done and have a new and valuable assistant in your countryside activities! And we, the subscribers, will soon have a chance to see more excellent videos. Once again, congratulations and many many thanks for your committment to the channel!

  • @karlp8484
    @karlp8484 5 лет назад +32

    Holy shemoly. I never saw this coming. It's a Russian Army tractor for towing field artillery etc and the crew thereof. Sort of a 1950s replacement for a half track. Been repurposed by the oil company, I guess. A lot of 1940s-1950s Russian vehicles have an air start system, some of the plumbing you noticed is part of that probably. Find an air cylinder somewhere to confirm this. What an adventure. At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, the tracks are not as expensive to replace as may appear. It's generally the pins that wear out and break not the links and of course, you can replace them individually. Track tensioning is going to be much more of a maintenance issue than on the mini crawler.

    • @hughbrackett343

    This is more like an AFV (Armored Fighting Vehicle) than a mere ATV! Your wife is a true angle for letting your buy this awesomely funky vehicle! Having driven and ridden in M-113’s, this vehicle of yours is pretty incredible. All it needs now is a .51 cal/12.5mm machine gun on the roof! Your ninjas could easily learn to operate crew served weapons. It’s great that you include them in your videos.

    I really, really, hope you manage to get that thing fired up, engine seems a bit small but I don't expect you will be racing it. Don't know if you intend taking it into town and if you have tarmac roads but the tracks might not treat the roads too well unless you have rubber pads.
    You would certainly get up to the Gulag camps in that.

    • @SurvivalRussia

      I'm not allowed to drive the tarmac roads on these tracks, even it will have a license plate. I should be able to reach the Gulag in this vehicle.

    Congratulations!!!
    I hope you have some friends who served in the Tank Corps in the Army. When you want to service that tank tread and wheels it's not a one person job no matter how talented you are. You will need special clamps and tools to unbutton the treads. When I was in a mechanized Armour Battalion in Germany, it took the whole crew working together to remove and replace just one link. In the winter it was heroic to watch.
    Also pulling the engine for service and overhaul was a Depot job, not a crew task. I wish you luck and have fun. Looks like a activity of some months till you get that thing roadworthy.
    Jerry
