I'm reading some very interesting comments on here. Many of you seem to be refuting her comment about God not requiring us to be perfect by quoting the scriptures that state "be perfect' or "be holy". I think some of you are taking her statements out of context. Of course God requires us to walk in holiness, but when he commands us to be perfect He is referring to maturity and walking in integrity. Not being flawless. God would never command His people to be something we don't have the capacity to be. Only He is perfect without flaw. Kiki was just referring to the fact that as long as our spirit bodies are encased in fleshly bodies, we will suffer some level of imperfection and God was well aware of that when He created us.

No one is judging. the bible says earnestly contend for the truth. Others have and even lost their lives for it. It is now okay for millennial Christians to adapt to every thing and fad without passing it through the scriptures. Since judgement begins in the house of God (Peter tells us this) we should judge ourselves first. Not from a condemnation perspective, but corrective perspective. Jesus Himself rebuked Peter when he seemingly felt more compassionate for Jesus than God, saying he should not go to the cross. We fool ourselves when we think we can't correct in love.

I like certain songs she's sang as well as songs from other gospel artists, but I can see that the "world" is creeping in by the nature and tone of their songs and the manner in which they switch it up subtly, think on that word subtle... who know who else is subtle. I agree with what both of you are saying, the word does say be perfect, because your Heavenly Father is perfect! However, yes, there is nobody like God, and so we won't reach perfection until we see Christ! So, she mentioned integrity...that's how we should walk. Striving for perfection. You can be covered and classy. I don't really care for the ""Preachers of..." franchise. We know they're not perfect. There's a thin line between transparency & over exposure. I don't think they have the balance yet. People always say, we like that they're real, but some of their behavior causes disdain with both church folks & the world. We need to see a distinction.

Unfortunately there is no scriptural bases her comment on how women should dress themselves, but the Bible clearly states "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel" 1 Tim 2:9. Also in 1 Peter 3:3 "Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel". Not at all. God acknowledges that we have desires of our own. That's why the word says to delight yourself in the lord and he will give you the desires of our hearts (according to His will for your life). She not worshiping fame or money but she's a christian who is also a singer. Like many singers, she wants to be able influence the world with her music & message (which happens to be JESUS). At the end of the day, I believe she hasn't done anything out of order and that she just wants to share the gospel and be a successful singer. Which is possible, because with God, ALL things are possible. Besides .. if she gets national or global awareness....while showing the banner of JESUS that would be awesome. You’re quoted Psalms 37:4 and used it, in the justification of her inequities, I can tell that 1) you don’t have understand of the verse and 2) you haven’t read the scriptures before and or after it to gain the proper context, which would have gave you the proper understanding. That’s what typical Christians do. They don’t know the Bible. You saw the word delight and you automatically think you knew the meaning of the word, therefore the meaning of the scripture. However your meaning of the scripture fails in comparison to the context in which the verse is set in. Psalms 37, we see King David is instructing his people in finding delight in the ways (the Laws, statues and commandments) of the Most High, and not be envious of the evil doers (like the female here is doing). To Commit yourself to his (Most High) ways, and avoid his anger. Let’s double check that reasoning. The first two questions any thinking individual with analytical capacity would ask the following questions: How does one take delight in the Most High? What does the word delight mean in this context? Let’s answer the second question first, and it will gives us the answer to the first question. According to Strong’s concordance we look up the meaning of the word delight ‘H6026’ to be soft, be delicate, be dainty. Let’s take and hold that meaning… And look up the following precept Act 7:51 “Ye Stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit as your ancestors did, so do you” Do you see the connection? In case you don’t. Stiff is in opposition to soft is it not? Delight in the above verse in Hebrew means to be soft, delicate. If I had to use a word today with a similar meaning it would be congenial - “which means to be agreeable, suitable, or pleasing in nature of character” In essence Psalms 37:4 verse can be stated as follows “Be congenial(agreeable) with the Most High, and he will give you the desires of our hearts”. Why is David informing his people to be agreeable with the Most High? Because their forefathers have accepted the Most High’s covenant and bound themselves and their descendants to it on Mount Sinai. Now with the proper understanding of verse 37:4, it makes sense with the next two verses. Psalms 37:5-6 “Commit thy way unto the Most High trust also in him, and he shall bring to pass (this is just another way of saying Psalms 37:4). And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday!” So the logic works, and is sound. As for her singing career? Hell, I don’t care or have a problem with her singing!!! She can sign to the cows come home. My problem with her is using the Bible to justify her reasoning, when she and a whole bunch of so-called Christians on this thread don’t know the Bible, and more than half of them don’t know what they’re talking about!

I think a lot of people have an issue with the word perfect. But ain’t no one trying to see God’s definition of perfect. HE makes is perfect through his grace. We follow his words and decrees due to obedience & love for Him. Obviously, Grace is not a pass to sin bc then we are taking advantage of his grace. But I feel like people need to stop taking Matthew 5:48 out of context. “We are to be perfect” means we should align ourselves to him. We don’t strive to be perfect by the definition of the world.

Hello, years later I see lol I come to you all in peace....everyone who says God wants us to be a "perfect being" is missing the message. Anytime the bible mentions the word "Therefore" read the verses before it to grasp a full understanding. Matthew 5:43-48 is Jesus talking about loving and treating everyone the same, be "perfect" in the sense of not creating any distinctions or barriers on WHO and HOW you love. Not to simply be "perfect" in the sense of being flawless. We are born imperfect... born in sin. No one is pure of any sin from birth to death. Also, take into account not every word we use today had the same literal meanings back then. I love you all and pray you share this insight with others.

This is what I don’t understand- God doesn’t expect us to be “perfect” when we have family members that are hurting and we know God wants us to love them like He loves us. I mean I have family members that get on my nerves of course but that doesn’t stop me from loving them. We may not even talk everyday but we are still called to love first and foremost.

Did she just say that a man doesn't want a woman that's covered? I disagree, Christian man is looking for a Christian woman that's covered period. The problem is that most "modern churches" has gotten away from the basic teachings of Gods holy word, and rather serve God how they think he should be served. Worldliness is the God in most modern churches today and that is a shame. As far as Pastors, I believe we need more men of God like Moses, Elijah, Jesus, Paul, that will take a stand for the truth and not compromise.
I agree we should be covered up. Especially in the church. people who are going to the church specificially men..do not want to deal with the same things in church that they are dealing outside, like lust . No one is judging. the bible says earnestly contend for the truth. Others have and even lost their lives for it. It is now okay for millennial Christians to adapt to every thing and fad without passing it through the scriptures. Since judgement begins in the house of God (Peter tells us this) we should judge ourselves first. Not from a condemnation perspective, but corrective perspective. Jesus Himself rebuked Peter when he seemingly felt more compassionate for Jesus than God, saying he should not go to the cross. We fool ourselves when we think we can't correct in love.

I agree with what both of you are saying, the word does say be perfect, because your Heavenly Father is perfect! However, yes, there is nobody like God, and so we won't reach perfection until we see Christ! So, she mentioned integrity...that's how we should walk. Striving for perfection. You can be covered and classy. I don't really care for the ""Preachers of..." franchise. We know they're not perfect. There's a thin line between transparency & over exposure. I don't think they have the balance yet. People always say, we like that they're real, but some of their behavior causes disdain with both church folks & the world. We need to see a distinction.

Unfortunately there is no scriptural bases her comment on how women should dress themselves, but the Bible clearly states "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel" 1 Tim 2:9. Also in 1 Peter 3:3 "Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel". Not saying you are suppose to be completely covered like in other cultures or religion sets, BUT modesty ladies. Its so bad today that you cant tell a prostitute from a "saint". Remember slips??? At the end of the day, I believe she hasn't done anything out of order and that she just wants to share the gospel and be a successful singer. You’re quoted Psalms 37:4 and used it, in the justification of her inequities, I can tell that 1) you don’t have understand of the verse and 2) you haven’t read the scriptures before and or after it to gain the proper context, which would have gave you the proper understanding.
That’s what typical Christians do. They don’t know the Bible.
You saw the word delight and you automatically think you knew the meaning of the word, therefore the meaning of the scripture. However your meaning of the scripture fails in comparison to the context in which the verse is set in.
Psalms 37, we see King David is instructing his people in finding delight in the ways (the Laws, statues and commandments) of the Most High, and not be envious of the evil doers (like the female here is doing).
To Commit yourself to his (Most High) ways, and avoid his anger. Let’s double check that reasoning.
The first two questions any thinking individual with analytical capacity would ask the following questions:
How does one take delight in the Most High?
What does the word delight mean in this context?
Let’s answer the second question first, and it will gives us the answer to the first question.
According to Strong’s concordance we look up the meaning of the word delight ‘H6026’ to be soft, be delicate, be dainty.
Let’s take and hold that meaning…
And look up the following precept Act 7:51 “Ye Stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit as your ancestors did, so do you”
Do you see the connection? In case you don’t. Stiff is in opposition to soft is it not?
Delight in the above verse in Hebrew means to be soft, delicate.
If I had to use a word today with a similar meaning it would be congenial - “which means to be agreeable, suitable, or pleasing in nature of character”
In essence Psalms 37:4 verse can be stated as follows “Be congenial(agreeable) with the Most High, and he will give you the desires of our hearts”. Why is David informing his people to be agreeable with the Most High?
Because their forefathers have accepted the Most High’s covenant and bound themselves and their descendants to it on Mount Sinai.
Now with the proper understanding of verse 37:4, it makes sense with the next two verses. Psalms 37:5-6 “Commit thy way unto the Most High trust also in him, and he shall bring to pass (this is just another way of saying Psalms 37:4). And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday!” So the logic works, and is sound.
As for her singing career? Hell, I don’t care or have a problem with her singing!!!

Hello, years later I see lol I come to you all in peace....everyone who says God wants us to be a "perfect being" is missing the message. Anytime the bible mentions the word "Therefore" read the verses before it to grasp a full understanding. Matthew 5:43-48 is Jesus talking about loving and treating everyone the same, be "perfect" in the sense of not creating any distinctions or barriers on WHO and HOW you love. Not to simply be "perfect" in the sense of being flawless. We are born imperfect... born in sin. No one is pure of any sin from birth to death. Also, take into account not every word we use today had the same literal meanings back then. I love you all and pray you share this insight with others.

This is what I don’t understand- God doesn’t expect us to be “perfect” when we have family members that are hurting and we know God wants us to love them like He loves us. I mean I have family members that get on my nerves of course but that doesn’t stop me from loving them. We may not even talk everyday but we are still called to love first and foremost.

The problem is that most "modern churches" has gotten away from the basic teachings of Gods holy word, and rather serve God how they think he should be served. As far as Pastors, I believe we need more men of God like Moses, Elijah, Jesus, Paul, that will take a stand for the truth and not compromise.
