The more tape i watch, the more i love Penix Jr.
The only question is his health. He’s got the highest ceiling in the class imo. When he comes into the league:
1. He’ll have a top 3 arm talent
2. He’ll have top 5 athleticism
3. Best sack avoidance rate of any prospect ever (it’s a ratio of pressures to sacks) which gives credence that he may have as good of pocket presence as Tom Brady.
So imagine if you have a qb with the awareness and smarts as Brady, the arm of Josh Allen, and the mobility of Tyrod Taylor. That’s what you’ll get with Penix.
@@Selling-McCarthyismif health is someone’s biggest question then I’m automatically out. Especially at the QB position.
.........
@@PurplePurgatory17 so would’ve you been out on Brady after he got his knee wrecked in 2008? Or even an unproven Brees who had a degenerative throwing shoulder in 2005?
@@Selling-McCarthyism Brady won 3 Super Bowls at that point and Brees was already an established NFL starter……
My take is you either start our rookie right away, or sit him for the entire year. The worst position is we are 3-6 and they want to bring in a rookie to save the season.
I would take Penix at 11. My feeling is they will move up for Maye or JJ
Who cares what the fans think. i care about what KAM and KOC are thinking.
Says the fan exclaiming what he thinks. 👌🏻
Daniels is the only qb worth moving up for. Stay at 11 otherwise
Agreed, maybe a little trade up for penix but not a lot
This draft will make or break the Vikings for the next 5 years...
That's a big much. We have a young team and a ton of cap space next year. If it fails, maybe 2 years at the very most
Oh okay arm chair GM! GTFOFH with that nonsense!
Where so lucky to have purple daily really are the best i watched other teams not even close draft jj mccarthy hes a winner forget all other stuff
If the Vikings watch draft day with Kevin Costner before the draft they can see how it's done to get there guys they want and drafting 2 in the first it is a good movie too I was picturing kewse has Costner n making deals with the teams n still getting 2 picks work that magic like Costner did u want him get him by any means necessary(watch the movie to find out what that means in the end he gets his guys n keeps his picks all of them!
Lol I don't think it quite goes like that, but yes, the guilty pleasure film draft day is great !
Happy Draft Week
Whatever qb they draft is not going to start, he'll sit behind Sam this season unless there's an inj
Unless there’s an injury? Have you looked at Darnolds two stops where he was the starter? Dumpster fire!
Anyone that truly cannot make it to the draft party and are willing to sell VIP tickets I am very interested.
Skol! Love from Cali! Hope you can make it. I was a day to late! I’ll be watching far from home 🟡🟣🦅🇺🇸✝️
1. Maye
2. Penix
3. McCarthy
4. Nix
This is assuming Daniels and Williams are off the board.
Agreed 👍
Switch maye and mccarthy and you got a deal
Penix deep ball and accuracy are intriguing??
McCarthy is going to be the best qb in this draft.
Explain why MR Speilman?
Ahhh no
Pats #3 for#11, #23, '25 1st and change. Drake Maye. Darnold lights it up for 1 year while Maye learns. Drake Maye year 2 will be our Allen/Herbert
Penix at 11 please and thank you 🙏
I predict that in 2 years Penix will be considered the best QB in this draft.
OMG, 4th best record in the NFC!? They need to drug test these guys before they let them on the air.
4th best in the North maybe.
@@drbenway4youre an idiot if you think we will be worse than chicago or GB.

Ceiling:
1. Penix
2. Maye
3. Williams
4. McCarthy
5. Daniels
6. Nix
Floors:
1. Williams
2. Daniels
3. Penix
4. McCarthy

6. Maye
Draft based on ceiling rather than floor. We have the infrastructure to develop a guy a year or two.
Jayden Daniels ceiling is Lamar Jackson. Dudes a phenomenal athlete and is a more refined passer than Lamar was coming out of college. I like Penix, but there's just too many red flags with his health and a little with his tape. Caleb Williams looks like a smaller Mahomes, he just needs the coaching to get him there. McCarthy is a total question mark. Dude barely has any tape to actually evaluate. Maye needs a lot of time and some great coaching to reach his potential and Nix is just meh across the board.
@@brandondillman5841 Penix has 6 years of tape and yes the red flag is the health. However, these are ceilings (as in what they can be). I do agree with the Daniels comp, I’d even argue he’s closer to Vick given the arm talent. Penix has that high of a ceiling because he’ll come into the league with a top 3 arm and those that have a stronger arm than him are a little less mobile. He chooses to stay in the pocket, not that he can’t run but that’s his choice. It’s a smart choice because he has the best sack avoidance rate to ever enter the nfl (it’s a stat that considers pressures that lead to sacks). It’s even crazier to think considering the offenses he ran had long developing plays. You can’t coach that arm talent and awareness. And anytime he chooses to flash the wheels, you can see the elusiveness. He just doesn’t because he’s good at avoiding the sacks.
@@brandondillman5841 Maye you pretty much know about. Williams is too chaotic and has a bit too many bad habits to break. McCarthy is a safe option with little film (most pro ready). Nix just don’t even 🤣
@@brandondillman5841 if I were to do a wholistic review of who I want the Vikings to get it would be in this order:
1. Daniels
2. Maye
3. Williams
4. McCarthy
5. Penix
6. Pratt
7. Travis
8. Rattler
9. Milton
10. Leary
11. Nix
12. Hartman
13. Tagovailoa
@@brandondillman5841 Mahomes was what?! A 10th overall pick, Caleb is obviously 10x better than Mahomes. He's the bonafide #1 pick. I don't care, its about where you are drafted. Highest drafted player is always better, if not, then why have scouts at all?!!
Facts as time goes on I have faith in koc in any of these qbs this year. 5 days Lfg!!! 🟣🟡
This is the part where I speak out about the fencing and people call me idiot, keyboard warrior, etc.
I’ve been going to races for sixty four years, was a photographer and wrote articles for a couple decades.
I invoke my experience as a catapult crew member on the flight deck of a carrier in cases like this. I’ve seen a half dozen people killed by big badass machines and don’t want to see it as part of my entertainment. We understand there will be freak accidents but let’s not make it easy. My father was a WWII veteran and big car fan. He told me a story about seeing a guy flip and get impaled by those pointed stakes that used to line some tracks. Fortunately things like that have been eliminated as hazards.
My take on this draft: You can't have your cake and eat it too. If the Vikings want a QB--and it's obvious that they do--they will almost certainly need to trade away draft capital to get where they need to take one of "their" guys.
QB's are almost surely going #1, 2, 3 (My sense is that NE is either trading the pick or taking a QB.), then AZ is taking MHJ. After that, SD might be the last potential trade partner. NYG are a risk of taking QB, Titans and Falcons sound like they want to keep their picks (and they are close enough that DEN/OAK have enough draft capital to go after these picks). CHI would love to trade with DEN/OAK to block us out of the QB carousel, and NYJ are a non-zero risk of taking a QB. Stick at #11 and there is a significant chance that all of the QBs they love are gone.
So, people can cry and say, "But Trey Lance was a bust!!!" or "2/3 of first round QBs are busts!!! or "It's all a crapshoot!!!" But, that doesn't mean you don't take a shot. Kwesi and KOC don't have 5 years to just keep picking QBs in the later rounds until...
A. They get lucky and find the next Brock Purdy, Russel Wilson, Dak Prescott...
B. The team is bad enough to have a top 5 pick--in a year when there are 2 or 3 top QB prospects.
So, the best case scenario is that they can move up to #3 and have a choice between 2-3 guys they like. If it takes #11, 23, and 2025 1st, so be it.
One more comment: This is the year to do it. Any one of the top 4 QBs has a higher ceiling than any QB the Vikings have drafted since Daunte Culpepper. Williams, Daniels, Maye, McCarthy are all excellent prospects. We have to hope the Vikings have a good process and develop the QB properly once he's in the room. Can't wait for Thursday.
I predict in classic Viking fashion the Vikings piss down there leg like they always do!
I don't know if you call it pissing down their leg. Vikings fans need to get a grip on reality, Kwesi has a walk away price, he talks about it and has shown it. I believe it's Penix or Nix! If it is Nix or Penix, that 23rd pick, can be a DT, or Cornerback, dare I say WR!
If they indeed, like more than one guy, like Kwesi said earlier, and the Patroits are open for business, and if Daniels and Maye are on that Vikings like list, why do we not have a trade yet. If it's Daniels or Maye and you trade to 3rd pick, it's over you can't miss, to get a guy you like! So I wonder if their guy is not at the top. My money is on Penix!
If this group of Quarterbacks are so god dam good why would New England move off one of them when they don’t have one?
I think Jayden Daniels is worth trading the farm for, but we all know that’s not realistic. My second choice would be Penix at 11. IMO, neither JJ or Drake Maye is worth to trade up for
I am not saying this will happen but I can see a world where Giant trade back with us before they jump ahead. That trade would not involve the 2025 first. They have a lot of holes to fill and have a QB under contract. All I know is this town isn't seeing the same tape and videos on Bo Nix as I am. This is one of those times that I couldn't disagree with Tyler and Thor more. The way they bring him up every chance they get tells me they're not even sure if they are right about Nix. 🤣
QB at 11 hopeful
Cooper DeJean 23
Cooper is a bustttttt
Drake is gonna thrive in Minnesota he gonna sit an have time to develop his game y’all act like they gonna just throw him in
Man, this guy is really saying 11-5 ?? Lol
Let's trade up for Maye if he goes 2 take Daniel's.. otherwise take phinx and a dt with the picks we have
Roman bellic?
Don't make the mistake I did and date a packers fan lmao. However he's listening to purple daily so there's that and isn't a die hard
I'm not a fan of getting on the quarterback carousel because it's huge potential waste of draft Capitol and at minimum 3 years your team holds its breath to see if we won the lottery or got a dud. Due to the way the legislative set up with the cap I'd run my team like the Ravens and use a rpo qb from the sec. Boring, but very simple draft style would hit on more picks and spend cap dollars on the trenches.
Go vikes!
As a Lions fan I hope the Vikings take JJ
The Vikings will pick Drake Maye 5th overall, trading with the chargers. Patriots pick JJ McCarthy 3rd.
Drake Maye is probably 1st choice by most. I like Penix Jr. He is a leader and can sling it. Penix at 23. Byron Murphy at 11.
Agreed. With Jayden almost certainly going #2, Maye is the guy to take a chance on. He has all the physical tools to be really good. He just needs to sit for a while and get coached up.
If we aren't getting the next Mahomes, then I don't want a QB at all. We are rebuilding, we have the chance to do this right now. There is NO time limit on this. If it takes 5 years, then fine, but after this, we better have the best QB in the NFL.
Penix gone by 23. Maybe even before 11 if the Raiders move ahead of us. They’re currently talking to the bears.
@@668771 some of these guys have a ceiling higher than Mahomes. Keyword, ceiling. When I mean that, I’m saying the stuff that can be coached and barring health.
Daniels, Penix, and Maye.
Yup
Down graded at every position except RB, and he's 30
In my 53 years and 25 or so following the draft, this one has so much blah blah blah blah, can’t wait to talk about what we did instead of what people think we should do!
They are going to piss down their leg in Viking fashion
JJ looks to be a derek Carr comprable in my estimation. Not good enough to spend 2 #1's
History is not on the Vikings side if they try and move up to select a QB in the top 5 of this year's draft.
History is hard to go against.
The Vikings are not going to be the 1st team this century and the last couple of years of the last century to successfully trade up and select a QB in the top 5 and that player turns out to be a franchise making player.
I posted this before. These are the last 10 QBs selected in the top 5 of their draft where the team who drafted them had to trade up into the top 5 to make them their selection.
Just about every team has regretted trading up to get what they thought would be their QB of the present and future.
Bryce Young - got his coach fired during the middle of his 1st season-jury is still out if Young turns out to be any good
Trey Lance - SF wasted a number of picks to move up and select him and ended up trading him to Dallas for next to nothing last year
Sam Darnold - multiple teams have given up on him and now he's the gap filler for Minny
Mitchell Trubisky - played on multiple teams and never was a starter after his stint at Chicago who selected him #2 overall
Jared Goff - only guy on this list that has had some team success; got his 1st team to the Super Bowl with the Rams and did get to the NFC Championship this past year with the Lions, but has been off and on most of his career and was the reason why the Rams traded him away to the Lions for Stafford who won the Super Bowl with the Rams
Carson Wentz - #2 overall and had a good 2016 1st half of the season, but has been dreadful since
RG III - rookie of the year, but done after that
Mark Sanchez - got his team to 2 AFC Championship games, but was mostly dismal
Michael Vick - fantastic and exciting player, but never played up to the hype of being the #1 overall pick while the Chargers got L. Tomlinson and Drew Brees in return for the trade allowing Atlanta to move up to #1 overall. Vick never won many games or helped his team win many playoff games
Ryan Leaf - biggest bust of them all on this list-#2 overall, selected after Manning in 1998
Are the Vikings going to make history and get a QB in the top 5 who becomes one of the best they have ever had let alone one of the best currently in the league. History says they will not.
If this brain trust is as smart and wise as some claim, then they better hope they don't trade up to the top 5 and select a QB. They should hope the team stands pat and wait for the player to drop to them and or maneuver around and get more picks and still get a QB that will develop in the long-term.
For teams who tend to wait, you actually come out better in the draft.
An example. Although Baltimore didn't win the Super Bowl in the last few years, they have consistently built a team that is amongst the top teams just about every year. They usually wait for players to drop to them in the draft instead of trading up and losing a slew picks to make a move.
Recent years they just sat there and got Kyle Hamilton and Tyler Linderbaum in 2022 and just sat there last year and got Zay Flowers and Trenton Simpson. All 4 are major players for their team and will typically stick with them for years. They got Lamar Jackson with the #32 overall pick in 2018 after trading from the 2nd round for the last pick of the 1st round. They rarely go all out and trade up and lose so much in the process.
You build a team through the draft with good players who will play together as a team consistently year after year. You usually go with players who are rated high on the overall board than going with a player at a position of need. You don't reach for players.
Getting guys who only stick around for 1 or 2 years is not a way to build a consistent winning team. You lose continuity and it's hard to get used to new teammates every year or every other year and expect to play better as a team.
Excellent analysis. I hope KOC and KAM are aware of this.
I don't think mobility in a QB is that important to KOC. Just look how he ran plays that limited Dobbs run plays after Dobbs was killing it.
If you played ball ever in your life youd see that dobbs always had permission to take off. But hes a terrible qb and defenses just went after him and he couldnt escape, ie; the chicago game
@@laserchiefwankoo204 Very possible, but it just looked like KOC's play calling changed after the second game that Dobbs played. Along with KOC's unwillingness to switch up the RB. I just wonder if KOC gets to set in his ways sometimes.
Daniels is the most well rounded for our offense? 😅😂😅😂 I guess this guy hasn't watched the Vikings play these last two years.
Sam Darnold will take this team right back to where Case Kenum left off before the Cousins night mare began write that down .
This is lazy ill admit but please don't draft Drake Maye, please please PLEASE
Whatever qb after Williams you think could be the guy, you give up the next two years worth of picks to have “ YOUR GUY” in to make a run in the next decade and a half. Nike… jus fu**ing do it, because if your right we could be contenders for a decade, if your wrong your down for 2-3 years at best. Look at San Fran! They shot their shot on Trey lance, missed and they were back in the sb 2 years later, and I believe we have the infrastructure now to survive a bad pick this year at worst case scenario. Just do it, my dad’s got 10-15 if he’s lucky…Fuc* I’ve got ten to fifteen if I’m lucky..ya know?
With O’Connell as the coach you honestly believe that shit? The guy can’t call plays he can’t manage the clock and when he was pressed into the heat he couldn’t even adjust the offense to the strengths of his starting quarterback.
Not impressed with any of the QBs. Go defense at #11 and #23 and with Darnold at QB.
I’m hearing Vikings might trade both draft picks for Herbert lol
Where did they find these 2 homers? I get it, a Viking's show for the fans, but how about some objectivity? The Vikings will be lucky to win 9 games at best and arguably have the worst roster in the the NFC north.
Jimmy S ounds like Judd's son. Time for a paternity test 😮
I wouldn't go as far as saying they have the worst roster tho. I mean that would he the exact opposite of a homer lol. How do you have the worst roster with JJ, CD, Oneill, Addison with a stellar rookie year. Defense needs improvement but it went from bottom of the league to mid pack last year with no additions. I don't think they go 11-6 but certainly not worst in the NFC. Anything is possible but that goes either way
Disagree
JJ is the choice, all we’re hearing is he’s a winner where ever he’s been. Daniels is susceptible to injury with his play style, Maye struggles mightily under pressure, Nix and Penix are lower tier. Correct pick is JJ.
JJ is good with a balanced team in terms of run and pass. KOC is runs a more pass happy offense. Pick Maye, Daniels, Penix, or Nix. Cheers!
