Very nice detailed video. Extremely helpful!!! I like the no-nonsense video!!!! I'm not here to be entertained, just here to learn. You do exactly that: You show us what to do, what to use, clear picture angles so we can see what you're doing. Please continue with more videos!
Loved this video. Down to business. No nonsense. Perfect
As always well done and concise 👍🏽
Thank you for getting straight to the point, along with specs needs to do the job.
Specs...? I must have missed that part.
JackTannehillPromoter it’s in the description
Excellent video! Thank you!
Great video, thanks a lot.
one advice sir .... if you opened the small hatch first at the bottom of the filter housing and inserted the plastic funnel provided with the new filter, your hand wouldn't be wet with used oil. It was there to facilitate controlled leak of the remaining used oil in the filter housing. I like your videos 👍
Yes I actually tried to remove it to show you folks but the whole housing loosened lol actually didn't make a mess like I expected.

Likely because someone used the ⅜ inch drive to tighten the entire oil filter cap. The cap should be 18 ft.lbs and the drainplug in the cap should only be 9 ft.lbs.
How would you loosen that small drain plug within the oil filter housing if the whole housing moves when trying to remove the drain plug?
That is pretty lame. I saw that on the maintenance guide and was like, WFT I got to go get a hose? And another O-ring. Yeah, not gonna do that thanks.
Good reminder, I tried to open small filter housing but previous owner tightened so hard I ended up loosening the whole thing like this video did it. Yes, Ur right though, that should be the correct step again stated in the filter box instruction. I have stated 2 comments, 1) just incase wear safey eye glases, 2) wear mask when ur spraying break clearner, chemical, and likely ended up inhaling *mist of break cleaner!
Great job.
Thank you 👍
Great!
Thanks first video on how this filter works I’m a Honda odyssey guy so this housing was a bit of a bummer at first … do they sell yearly filters? I don’t remember the last time I used a 5k filter.
No it's only one type of filter. Just change it every time you change the oil
That oil filter cover was on so tight it cracked my sienna filter wrench. Its almost as if the dealership didnt want you to change your own oil... hey, wait a minute!
Same!!
My drain plug and filter were glued on smh
Same here😐
the metal oil filter housings are way better than the plastic
Yes you can upgrade it if you want
Does the filter come with the o ring?
Yes
Totally new to this, how much new oil do I add?
6.4 quarts
Hello I'm need the answer. Somebody changed me the oil Toyota sienna 2020 the guy told me he can't took out the oil filter he said it's plastic and probably he broken. That's true or false.
If it's plastic it's possible someone broke it while tightening it
So the smaller o ring is not needed?
If you remove the filter drain (small plug on the filter housing) then swap it out. I don't bother with the small plug because it removes the entire filter filter housing trying to break it loose lol
how many miles between changes, im going to use mobil 1 10k oil
7500 miles is what I do
How many Quarts ???
6.4 quarts
Aren’t you suppose to drain the oil and take off the filter at the same time ? Once you take the filter off the remaining dirty oil goes in the drain pan
It doesn't matter, you can remove the filter first or last.
Did you lift the front end at all?
Yes It was on ramps
For those people reading this....it seems for various model years of Sienna they used either plastic or aluminum oil filter housings for the 3.5L v6 engine. Can folks here confirm that the 2016 model year used aluminum?.....I think 2017 - 2019 used plastic.
Some models use plastic, i hate the plastic housing.
@@MrRangerZr1 ...yes...I say that also.....trying to pin down what the 2016 model year Sienna with 3.5L v-6 uses.....I think aluminum. Furthermore....I THINK starting 2017 and beyond.... at least until 2019, it remained plastic. There have to be a lot of folks viewing your vid.....would like confirmation from someone, if possible....thanks. Factoid.....if you look up the part as a replacement part from the official Toyota website....it looks like the plastic part is no-longer-available.
I have a 2019 Sienna Limited and it came with a plastic housing. I ended up cracking the plastic and bought a aluminum
Scotty Kilmer recommends Baxter Performance’s aftermarket replacement mod for these (especially if you have the plastic housing). They let you use the standard screw-on filters instead and have a schrader valve that you can attach an air pump to that will blow the excess oil from the filter back into the engine/pan so it doesn’t make such a mess when you change the filter. There’s different versions for various makes/models including these ones for Toyota. They cost around $250-280 as of 2024 but if you change your own oil it might be worth it to make the process less of a hassle.
@@MrRangerZr1 ...doesn't sound right.....many reports of interchange. There may be different sizes threads used on different Toyotas....but for whatever model there should be a plastic and metal interchange possibility.
👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥
How much oil dude
6.4 quarts
6 quarts
I hate those paper filters ...
yup not everyone's favorite lol
I love them. ✨
@@njsongwriter They are great when they are installed from the top. I had a Volvo that had it like that. I could change the filter from the top.
It is a messy job from the bottom
I didn't know Toyota oil filter is like the European style.. I'm not a fan.
Yeah can be messy
