solo Q is becoming increasingly harder in general. For extra modes what is worse, the top 100 players of that mode will just create new accounts and smurf on lower ranks because they can't get games in their ranks - I know this for a fact since I've spoken to some of these people. So as soon as you reach champ 3 and up in rumble you will be playing often against "new" accounts that are incredibly good at the game, on top of that you'll be matched against high skill stacked teams that partied up and if you have johnny mcwhiff on your random team with his D2 rank in standard you're going to struggle hard to get to GC.
Yeah its pretty difficult, people want to play and at the top in any extra rank you are queuing for aaaaaaaaaaaages. When I got top 100 in rumble the queue time was literally about 7 minutes, and when I got top 100 in dropshot I was queuing for 17 minutes which is insane! So I understand it from both sides, but it makes it so hard for players who are naturally in the ranks you have mentioned because they don't have a chance. Skill wise there isn't a massive difference between high and low SSL in rumble, so I feel they should just allow queuing with GC3 also to speed the process up and to prevent alt accounts.
As someone who solo queued to RNG Champ in season 8, I have to agree - it takes much longer now. The q times get quite long, and not only are you gambling with your teammates, you also gamble with getting non-standard maps.
