I paid $15 to attend one of his seminars in 1982 or ‘83. He was about to turn 40 and was planning a comeback. We were all college students with severs pretty athletic black belts among us. None of us could touch him. He was very nice, would not hurt anyone, but he got me to do a couple of drills with him and it was scary.
I talked to Joe over the phone in 1991,we talked a good 10-12 minutes about the exhibition bout with him & Bill Wallace, the fight with Tyson/Holyfield( upcoming),& training.didnt mention Brure Lee at all, maybe he was glad of that.best phone c9nversation i had with a legend back then.was shocked& saddened to hear about his passing.this was a great piece.
Amazing Joe at 200 lbs Joe can mimicked Bruce movements . Long time Joe Lewis fan , thanks for showing his videos and looking forward for more Joe’s videos , Mike Stone and the Great SKIPPER Mullins Just found this channel today and got to SUBSCRIBE 👍
They did spar. After Joe hurt herb jackson one night as Bruce’s school in Chinatown after they had dinner. Bruce got pissed, put on some gloves, told Joe to stay a little longer and tagged him a few times at the school. In and out. Joe couldn’t touch him according to herb and another person who was there. I forget the name. This is all on john Little’s new book “wrath of the dragon: the real fights of Bruce Lee”
Wow ...never saw this before. This puts to rest a lot of crap written about Bruce Lee. Joe Lewis was a heavy weight fighter and I don't think he would waste his time with merely an "actor" that couldn't hold his own. Joe has a rye sense of humour if you pick up on it which I don't think most people do. Funny guy!!!
Everything sounded great until he said they never actually sparred. Believe what you want I'd never buy that bs. Any one who's done even a little study on Bruce knows he was all about sparring. He used to say a martial artists that doesn't spar is like a swimmer training on land without getting into the water. And I know exactly why he and Chuck will never admit they sparred him. Jim Kelly said it best "he was untouchable". These men have an ego problem. Period
Well, obviously, it's written all over his body and expression. He was not like water. But he did said that Bruce caught him, he said with a smile in his face that he got caught by a couple of JKD punches. But he never really down play Bruce,.
Man, thank god Joe Lewis was here to honor and give praise to Bruce Lee. I'm so glad i found these videos. Is he still alive , i would love to have him on a podcast.
Gives respect to Bruce then says JKD has inconsistencies and Bruce started copying his stance. Denies sparring Bruce but in later years says he was popped a few times by Bruce. I still like parts of the video but I personally believe Joe used Bruce lees name for more profits.
JKD wasn't complete,as Bruce was always researching and updating his personal style. Dan Inosanto said he was getting updates monthly and sometimes more.
@@heartfanjim01not by the 70’s. Tell me, what do you think is “incomplete” about JKD? It’s not about adding. It’s not about going from style to style. It’s about going from distance to target. Bruce went beyond styles.
This fight has point stop based karate written all over it, both guys very robotic and NOT fluid moving at all, stood still waiting for eachother to make a move. other than dance around the ring kickboxing is the same flowing temperament as boxing. this so obviously was the first ever kickboxing match. it lacked what we call today fundamental kickboxing skills.
I'm glad that Joe recognized, and paid Lee the credit DUE him.
He sometimes did and sometimes didn’t. And he knew this video would sell well.
Motivated by $$. He talked so poorly of Bruce Lee after he died, it was very disappointing. Same with Chuck Norris and Bob Wall.
Those who say Bruce Lee was just an actor should see this video to believe that Bruce was for real,Bruce Lee was the master...
Glad to hear you say a nice thing about the deceased instead of insult
A true legend mr Joe Lewis
Rip to Bruce Lee And Joe Lewis

JL died many years ago.
Right out of the bat..what cought my ears was when Joe said...we were not ALLOWED to work together...makes me wondering WHY? hmm
Bruce was living in Hong Kong, and the others were probably busy.
@@heartfanjim01 Allowed is a different thing than we could not work ..but not allowed means they are kinda denied to do that basicly
Rip both
