    I don't know much about the art of church bell ringing, but this is completely mesmerising.! Very Beautiful and so very English, I do hope this art is not allowed to die out.

    Sir David Willcocks was from Cornwall. I am so glad he lived to a ripe old age. It's his music that made an Anglophile out of me in1994.

    New Year’s Eve is the saddest to of the year! I can cry easily when I hear this! Always reminds me of my childhood at St Andrew’s Backwell Bristol. And then came the clashing of the bells 🔔 for the New Year! 🔔Well done Cornwall!

      Claire ForestGreen Dixon Stedman Caters is on 9 bells with a tenor behind (so 10 in total). What is being rung here is call changes on 8 bells

      benbisley I don't notice birdsong, probably because I am hard of hearing. (I can tell that I am hearing half-muffled bells, though.) I have been crushing on half-muffled bells ever since listening to the 20th anniversary rebroadcast of princess Di's funeral.

      CornishRingofBells Did they ring them in memory of Sir David on the dates of his birth (12/30) and death (9/17)? I hope so. He was the best Cornish choir director/arranger since RVW.

    Is this supposed to be like the black notes on a piano?

    • @Steven_Rowe
      @Steven_Rowe 4 года назад +3

      Not to sue sure you would think they are vback note.
      The bells are a major scale and tuned to Eb
      The key of Eb has 3 flats in it so 4 it you played this on a piano the flat notes are the black keys
      So yo have Eb F G Ab Bb C D Eb.
      The exho effect is not an echo
      The nells are being rung half muffled so they put a leather muffle on one side of the clapper .
      This is normally done foe remembrance day.
      Dont know if your a ringer or a piano player so simply replied to give you all the information.
      Hope this helps

    Im new to half muffled bells. They sound out of tune. I dont quite understand the aesthetic..can anyone explain? Thx:)

    • @CornishRingofBells
      @CornishRingofBells  5 лет назад +3

      Blue Blaze they aren’t out of tune, far from it. Half of the clapper is covered by a leather muffle to muffle the sound of it hitting the bell, it signifies mourning etc. It’s a beautiful sound.

      @@CornishRingofBells Interesting..im new to this. Never heard of half muffled bells in my life. It's an aesthetic I'll have to get used to but intrigues me at the same time

    • @Happyheart146

      As I understand it, half muffled is for remembrance and if the vicar, father dies. HRH Prince Phillip had half muffled bells. Only the monarch themselves can have a full muffled bell (on their passing)
