Texas Teenage Virgins travels to Lubbock, Texas, deep in the heart of the Bible Belt, where - as a result of a law introduced by George W Bush when he was Governor - teenagers are expected to take purity pledges, promising to remain virgins until they get married.

The toothbrush analogy really got under my skin. Bitch I am not like a toothbrush I am like a $20 bill. No matter where that bill has been, it still has the same value. This is exactly how I was raised. I was engaged to a guy and we were together for three years and never had sex. The relationship ended up falling apart because we wanted to get married so bad mostly just so we could have sex. These teachings almost caused me to get married at 18 before I had even graduated high school and my parents were all for it. I ended up having sex a few month after we canceled the wedding with a guy I met on tinder because I was just so over the whole virginity thing and just wanted to get rid of the label. I always look back and think what my life would have been like if we had gotten married so young. I probably wouldn't be graduating college this spring and would probably be a 21 year old stay at home mom with 2 kids. This purity movement is a scam just to control young women.

My sex Ed in the mid 1980's was given by a very embarrassed science teacher. He was so red faced and hadn't a clue, us teens had more idea and when he didn't know what to say and asked us questions, we felt embarrassed ourselves so he asked us to write our questions down and put them in a tray on his desk. It was evident most of the boys saw porn mags due to their questions whereas girls asked about the act of making babies. NOTHING about prevention or contraception, it was all very awk!

Well, not everyone consents, I assure you. There is rape and some people really do feel violated even when they consent. I didn't. My first experience was great. But my sister's first was a rape and I had girlfriends who had sex with people they didn't want to because they felt pressured.
