There's a clear difference when using the Vintage mode and the recording sounds a little brighter and fuller. The compressor is a great addition but it adds a little change and somehow muffles the instruments.
It's the best when compared to the scarlett air mode and ssl 4k button: the air mode boost with a tiny amount of distortion but no body as with the 4k gives body and boost but with distortion...the vintage mode give a shimmer on top that don't introduce audible distortion more like a HD sound

People don't realize the amazing times we live in - try living just 20 years ago where quality audio products were out of reach. When my father was in his 20s, he had to build all of his own record equipment except for the tape machine but that set him back a lot. This is a huge step in the right direction for high end companies to get into the entry level game. Trust me. It took me a decade of working in studios to have enough money to comfortably buy a Urei 1176.
100%. Same with the internet and computers. It's widespread to criticize them, but it's infrequent to appreciate the amazing opportunities these technologies have given us. We are blessed to live in the times when we see technological breakthroughs that often and fast
The SSL is way better. I recommend everybody to watch Julian Krause reviews. They are very technical and surprisingly the best interfaces are not the ones you'd expect. He makes tons of measurements and has a chart of interfaces. Motu M2 are great quality, Audient are super underrated. You can spare a lot kf cash making the right choices
Bought the volt 176 for 185 euro with essential bundle plus the included plugins! It's a bang for the buck! It gave a new life to my studio monitors it feel that i can trust them now and do better mixes when it comes to sound levels and flavor and spatial separation! Just what i needed without braking the bank! Perfect for a home production studio!
Dude UA is the best company hands down for interfaces... It's hard for me to go back & forth from my Apollo Solo to the Arturia Audiofuse Studio (and the Audiofuse Studio is amazing btw). I know this is my vibe!
I use the Komplete Audio MK 6. It has the option to record two XLR mics and 4 line in sources, and 2 headphones can plugin. With gain dials and phantom power. It got a very affordable price. Not sure if I should replace it with Universal Audio.
it's finally here!!! You're distracting me from finishing a track for a contest where today is the deadline but once I got the notification I couldn't resist. I only wanted to hear your opinion after I heard the announcement of the volt line!
because the 610 is the real thing and the one the Volt is a joke. You could go halfway buying an Apollo Twin that has an awesome emulation of the 610 with the Unison mode
These don't sound anywhere close to a 610, they just have some saturation added, you can do that with a free plugin, it's just marketing. Buy the real deal and you won't regret it
I’m an UA Apollo Twin X guy, but the Unison pre-amp plugins only work on a Mac and I’m looking for an audio interface for my iPad. The volt might do the trick as my mobile rig.
I have the older Audient iD14, which has served me very well for the past 3-4 years. Time to upgrade and the timing of this is great. Definitely considering Volt 76 series.
I immediately ordered the 476 the moment I saw it. I'll never go back. 🙂 I use a Focusrite for my drums. Between the two I'm super happy with my set up.
Great video! I'm now considering either the volt interfaces or arturia minifuse. Will you be comparing the two down the line? if not, what would you recommend?
I loved the video you recently released about the Arturia Minifuse interfaces. The video really sold me on the Arturia Minifuse 2. Do you have any opinion on these interfaces vs. the Arturia Minifuse interfaces?
I found out about this audio interface just the other day and immediately bought the 176 as an upgrade to my little Focusrite Solo. I have a zillion plugins I don’t need the ones you pay extra for in the DSP interfaces. Great video!
I got myself a Komplete Audio a few months ago otherwise VOLT or minifuse would be my choice. Also, great to hear that you will be featured on VOLT tutorial!
Thank you so much, Sanjay for this session on UA Volt. I had such a bad experience with Audient ID-44 that I am just looking for an interface with a quality build. I am not ready to spend thousands on Apollo and I know that because of their built-in DSP it certainly makes sense to spend that amount. I am using Waves, Valhalla, Baby Audio, and iZotope plugins so I just need a quality interface. UA's name has its own value and I am expecting it to stand by these budget interfaces too. Love every episode of your channel and looking forward to getting my Volt-476 in hopefully next month when they are released in the market.
Thank you for the kind words, Naweed. I hope you'll enjoy the Volt when you get it. Also, I'm a big fan of Valhalla plugins. UA plugins are excellent, but if your computer has enough power, you'll be fine with other plugins.
What was the problem with the ID44? Have you looked into iD4/iD14 MKII? I have just got the iD4 MKII and it's excellent in every way. Curious how does it compare to the VOLT, though...
Hi @@gkiss2030, there is line interference noise coming out through the monitor out. I tested my monitor Eris XT 8 with Motu M2 (my backup interface) and runs perfectly. ID44's driver had issues earlier before they released 4.2.1. The first few months I was very happy with Audient. A lot of users of Audient have opened the casing and sprayed anti-static on them which they claimed resolved the issue. I am looking for a clean, warm-sounding interface and hoping UA Volt will provide it.
@@NaweedQadirdotcom Interesting ! and globaly, in terms on sound quality (dynamics, level, conversion) you prefer the Motu M series or the Audient iD44 (even if the real opponent (iD14Mkii is different from the iD44) ? Thank you !
I love the concept of the Volt, i just wish they made a larger version. For instance if they did what Focusrite does with the Scarlett series ranging from Solo-18i20 then i would definitely buy a Volt. Im currently using a Presonus Studio 192 and looking to buy a Motu 8pre to expand my Studio 192 via ADAT to 16 channels and also have a backup interface incase my Studio 192 goes down, but if UA made a Volt version with 8 preamps and ADAT in/out then i would be sold instantly. But i think UA still did a fantastic job with the Volt and they are going to sell a TON of them.
@@HamHavoc lol i know that, im talking about in the Volt series since they are supposed to be in an affordable price range. Its obvious that Volt was made to compete with the more budget friendly interfaces like the Scarlett Series, Motu M series, Audient D series, etc, and tap into that market. The Apollo Series are their flag ship models, but way to expensive for a working class guy like myself. It would have been nice for them to make a 8 channel Volt that was more affordable than the Apollo. But they didnt, so thats that. Still think the Volt Series was a good step forward for UA into that side of the market, and they did a good job designing them
@@orryfishburne5326 I would love something like that too but I just don't see them making something like that because it would cut into the apollo interface's. It would be cool to get something like that tho.
I know companies can't fit everything into a preamp, either for budgetary reasons or another (saving some features for ver. II). Unfortunately, I think they overlooked loopback (especially since live streaming and podcasting is listed as a use for this preamp). Also, a mix knob for recording is a must. Other than that, the look and features are very good for the price.
You know...there never seems to be a product that does it all, right? Its like companies have to remove a feature just so you have to buy something else
@@SanjayC yeah but the motu is cheaper and has all that. I hear ya though... Cameras are especially like this lol. I just want indefinite HD recording, that can be used as a webcam, with good stabilization, low light performance, and a decently wide lense... That's all! :p like you need to spend a grand or more to get all that, but I digress...
I’d love to see a comparison between the “76” Volt models and the Apollo series... Let’s say, plug-ins aside, is it worth the extra $$ for an Apollo, even for the solo?? Are the drivers/ conversion, etc. that much better?
The Apollos have one of the best A/D converters in them, and they also have DSP chips so if you take music seriously and want to make it in a professional environment with good tools then yes, it's worth it imo.
DSP is a thing of the past. With the new Mac CPU’s you have more than enough power for plugins. The motu has/had best in class conversion, who knows how they compare. Yet doesn’t have a 610 or 76 emulation, then again we don’t know how good they emulate.

Hi Sanjay, great video as always - this video saves me needing to do one, thanks 😜 The 76 compression is very subtle on vocals to the point I thought it sounded more like automation. It was nicely obviously on the guitars though. Love the Vintage sound. And if you ever need drums for a video - let’s collaborate 🙂🤘
Sanjay! How do you not have 2 mil subs? I've been watching your videos now for the past week 3 or 4 at a time and there hasn't been ONE that I haven't liked
The problem with the 1176 compressor 3 settings is not enough. The 1176 is know for its all in buttons. And super squashing drums so it’s no where near what a 1176 can actually do. 3 settings won’t do it but here’s the thing.what they did is good for beginners that don’t know how to properly use a compressor by using 3 dummy settings so you don’t ruin the signal going in. So these settings are super safe to use and should give you a more even sound on the way in without over doing it. I like the fact it works with iPad. I wish they did one thing. Added a reverb DsP would have took it to another level. Even just for monitoring and not recording in but with the added plugins that come with it you can do some reverb monitoring at least. Hey great video. You have a really great channel and very professional at what you do. Wow! I heard the 1176 on the first 10 secs of your beginning vocal. It's the modern in your face vocal sound thats hot right now. Great entry price for real pro gear results - no short cuts. I got the apollos and this impresses me at this price point. A LA2A added to this would be game over! Tho -will get a 76 for mobile recordings for sure. Thanks for the review SanjayC!
Hello Mr Sanjay c, I really appreciate your devotion to given us review video of equipment best for are studios. Without you such opportunity wouldn't have been possible.... what I need from you now is for you to review the arturia mini fuse and the volt interface.tanks
Great video! I just need an honest opinion here. I am super confused between SSL 2+ and Volt 276. I like the fact that SSL hosts 2 headphone outputs, a monitor mix knob and the included vocalstrip plugin. Whereas the UAD hosts the onboard 76 compressor which is really handy. Which one do you prefer, and why?
Revelator io24 has built in hpf, Gate/expander,compressor, EQ and limiter these ua ones sound great but need to know the Premamp and headphone amp specs before pre ordering.
What do you think of the Vintage mode? How about that compressor? Did you hear the difference?
Yes, it's pretty nice and subtle, but on a side note, they could've also included loopback for utility apart from such a nice compressor feature.
There's a clear difference when using the Vintage mode and the recording sounds a little brighter and fuller. The compressor is a great addition but it adds a little change and somehow muffles the instruments.
Awesome man
Nice sound especially in that price range. It's sounds pretty similar to the 4K-function on Solid State Logic's SSL2(+) series if not a tad better.

Nobody was waiting for it. Everyone has an Apollo Twin already 😄
When does that song come out? I really like the snippet I've heard
that's an excellent presentation, congrats
Love this guy !!! Great Content
Focus on the great talent the universe gave you as an artist. You have a great voice and your compositions are pleasing to everyone. Gear your efforts to let the world enjoy that talent versus serving fellow producers. Magic happens when you leave your comfort zone.
Nice demo song.
I've been using the Edirol/Roland UA-25EX, which also features an on board compressor and has great buildquality. I love this litlle device!
have that too, built like a tank!
Bro is Killin that beat tho 🔥
Great Video... 🔥Song also!!! 👍🏿👍🏿 Looking forward to the Tutorial Video...
Thanks so much! Tutorial video is going to be great
@@SanjayC It's taking forever for them to release it.... Can I just buy the 476 from you... 😀
Universal Audio Volt vs Arturia MiniFuse ??
Hello Mr Sanjay c, I really appreciate your devotion to given us review video of equipment best for are studios. Without you such opportunity wouldn't have been possible.... what I need from you now is for you to review the arturia mini fuse and the volt interface.tanks
I'm planning for that in an upcoming video.
Sanjay pls give us a comparison between these and ID4 mkii please
Since you have tried it all, what’s your favorite interface ?
Hey, what about headphones impedance? What do you advice?
Vintage On ✅
You got a nice voice bro. Transparent compression very much subtle
Congratulations for this video!
I'm currently using a Saffire Pro 14 firewire interface. the Volt 4|76 is looking like a good upgrade path!
But are they better than the SSL 2 / Scarlett 2i2 / Audient iD14 Mk.ii etc?
Scarlett isn’t close to those leagues. Much lower quality, I own one
i use the glue for compression :)
What intrigued me was the compressor inside the interface.
First time i saw a company doing that
Yeah, I can't believe they did it!
Revelator io24 has built in hpf, Gate/expander,compressor, EQ and limiter these ua ones sound great but need to know the Premamp and headphone amp specs before pre ordering.
I had an "Aardvark" bundled with Sonar back in early 2000's which came with a compressor on each of it's four inputs.
Dope song bro. Can't wait to buy one
