So charismatic, sincere, and perfect comedic timing. Nathan Fillion should have been the biggest leading man in Hollywood since the late 90s, love everything he’s done and wish there was more!
Imagine if he got picked for uncharted and it was actually a good movie. It’d end up being like a new Indiana jones for a whole new generation.
I’m still baffled as to why he wasn’t a huge movie star. Firefly had proper nerd cred and he showed he could carry a leading man role in Serenity too, he should have had some big movie roles in the 2000s.
I absolutely loved him in 'Castle', his charisma and humor was contagious and he loved doing that series!
He is such a treasure to the entertainment industry.
@@hyperdeath84 If I remember correctly, Nathan had....well in this interview he sums it up: He's an "emotional guy". Some people didn't appreciate his angrier emotions toward the end of Castle. Also you have to remember that Joss Whedon was a giant ass while filming some of his movies/series which is why he kinda disappeared for a while until the backlash settled down. Some of that might have rubbed off on Nathan, there is just no way to know for sure.
As for why Nathan never leapt into films...good question. He had a taste of it when they filmed Serenity but decided to stick with Castle. Scheduling around that series may have made him pass on some choice roles. Or the answer could be simply: he liked how filming TV was done vs. movies. It's a steady paycheck, the sets are not too different from episode to episode and season to season, and that makes things comfortable. You can tell he's getting older now so he may not have as many opportunities coming his way....or he's got enough money that he doesn't need to work any more than he has to.
There's alot of missed opportunities with early 2000's actors. Good thing they age well. It's not too late.
He would’ve been awesome as Nathan Drake in Uncharted….. but I guess they wanted someone younger
I love Tom Holland but it’s such a stupid idea to cast a “young Nathan Drake” when studio should know damn well audience want prime Nathan, throughout four games did we get much flashback of Nate becoming Nathan Drake? No because we don’t need that shit it’s pointless af, the only flashback that’s needed is the opening of Uncharted 4 that’s all we need for what makes Nathan Drake the legend himself
Tom Holland was a awful idea and having Marky Mark too..Nathan Fillion deserved to be Drake..he just fits the character perfect
@@hays0939 Agreed. I really like both actors in other movies but holy shit it was like an SNL skit on casting to choose both of them for that movie. Nathan Fillion & either Harrison Ford or Liam Neesan as Sully would have worked much better IMO
At least Fillion got to be Drake in the fan film, which was rad. Which is more than I can say for the atrocity that came out in theatres.
They could have casted him made two or so movies and then make a prequel
An underrated talent. He always comes in with great energy and makes it fun. I have thoroughly enjoyed everything he had been in. Seems like a really good person as well.
Enjoyed him in Buffy vampire slayer as that powerful evil priest for the first
dude is in so much! been acting for a minute.
Dudes backs hurt because he carried halo 5 all on him self
This guy is hugely underated as an actor. Even saying that my favorite role hes played was Gary... the guy just plays a head and still steals the show. Give him more roles please.
Nathan has been killing it since playing Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly (if you haven’t seen this series or watched SERENITY, the film that Joss made after FOX stupidly canceled Firefly, you NEED to watch them). He’s a great actor.
Two Guys and a Girl and a Pizza Place.
All my children as Joey Buchanan
Slither....one of the most underated horror com films. Gun fought for Fallion on that film and Im so glad he got to have his friend as the lead and Fellion should had been a bigger star. Glad he is still a humble man
He was great in Saving Private Ryan too.
Firefly and Serenity is some of the best sci fi ever
James Gunn just love casting his friends, it said a lot about the guy that a lot of his co-worker are still in contact with him after all these years and want to appear in his movie even if it's just a small role like a voice acting.
Adam Sandler does the same thing. I was surprised to see the same people from Suicide Squad like nathan, daniela, and pete davidson and It's great to see that.
Closed shop
I mean theres tons of other directors who do the exact same thing
It’s also pretty telling just how many coworkers were loyal to him during the 2018 Twitter fiasco; he inspires a lot of loyalty among those around him.
he shafted him tho.. wonderman would have been a much better role
I love Nathan Fillion! Castle was one of my favorite shows, and now I love watching The Rookie! I still won’t go see this movie, but I appreciate how much he loves it!
I love Firefly, I wish that TV series could have longer run.
That would be shiny.
I will watch the old episodes (in the correct order) from time to time and I get excited when I see them pop into each other's projects like Alan Tudyk as a crime scene cleaner in Nathan's series, The Rookie. Honestly, I will specifically watch shows they are in ie Alan in Resident Alien.
surprised they never brought it back for how massive the fan base ended up
Never really watched the show, but after reading that CBS wanted a "western in space" when they ordered "Star Trek", I thought that a show like Firefly is probably what they had in mind.
Nathan plays the octopus in Resident Alien
Absolutely loved his character in Guardians 3. He stole the show for the time he was on screen. Glad he got to be a part of the MCU.
Nathan Fillion makes my top 10 favorite actors list.
Nathan drake is such talented actor love him on the rookie it cool to see him crossover in the MCU.
Tom Holland is already in the MCU!
@@tehRaptorsNo no, the real Nathan Drake.

@@tehRaptors The real Nathan Drake.
I love how much of a passionate nerd he is.. it makes me happy
One of my favorite actors. He’s just so humble.
I am so glad Hollywood never went to his head
I really hope they put Nathan fillion in the mcu proper, he's too good not to be a big character in it. could definitely see him in like a mentor role for a younger hero or doing like a voice of a non-human character. I mean I'd love for him to be a leading man, but he's not getting any younger and I think he did a good job doing the mentor thing in castle.
Honestly, he should be Wonder Man in the MCU… he’s been on posters, and voiced him in M.O.D.O.K. I can see him in the role…
I kept trying to figure out why this character seemed so familiar! I've heard Nathan's voice work in things before, but I haven't watched any of his live action stuff so I was having trouble putting the face to the voice.
He did a great job, loved the "I've got one of those guys" gag.
He is a dubble actor.. He is now in the MCU but years he was the voice of DC green lantern...and he was on TV with The Rookie and Castle...
Watch Slither, Guns and Fallion's film. Great movie...even stars Micheal Rooker, also a close friend
...and watch Firefly and Serenity
He was also the voice actor of cayde form destiny 2
@@fyuira9585 Actually he only voiced Cayde in D1. Bungie had scheduling issues getting celebrity voice actors for D2, so Cayde's voiced by Nolan North now.
Nathan is my hero. I live vicariously through him. He's done absolutely everything I've EVER wanted to do and played every character I've dreamed of playing. From #Firefly to #TheRookie to the #MCU... He's the ultimate broad spectrum actor.
Nathan Fillion is the Man 🤙🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 from The Rookie to Suicide Squad to now In Guardians of the Galaxy 🌌
You forget the most important role. Firefly! By far his best character. The Rookie is network TV goop
Check out Castle! He is absolutely great in Castle!
Check him out as private Ryan in "Saving Private Ryan".
@@extra4323 eh.. That is Matt Damon as Private Ryan. Nathan Fillion is Minesota Ryan. Nathan is a Private in the movie yes. But he is not Private Ryan
@@Dimage666 How is a person from Minnesota who is a private not considered Private Ryan in your opinion? Why did they call him private Ryan in the movie? I never said he was the main character. I don't think you really thought this out before commenting.
What he said about films making him feel is so right imo. It's what im looking for in my entertainment and GotG made me care.
I was happy to see his name in the credits and to see it was a reasonably sizeable role.
Nathan is such a lovely soul.
I hope gunn gives him a big DC role. Hopefully Plastic man.
A bunch of people have wanted him to play Hal Jordan for a long time, mostly because he’s a fan of the character and has voiced him in animated form multiple times before. However, most people have kind of accepted that he’d probably be too old to play that part, especially since Gunn is probably going for a younger cast to grow as the characters throughout the movies.
he needs a bigger role, this man is a national treasure
The shape he got himself into for the Rookie post Castle cannot be understated. He looks great and de-aged about 15yrs.
Cayde-6…. Destiny’s Hunter Vanguard…. He is underrated for the amount of characters he has brought to life..
Loved following Nathan over the years.. from Buffy to Firefly on.. great actor
I appreciate that he says he didn't enjoy the comics, because I don't either and i love these movies. That's one of the things that makes them so great, and you never hear actors say that
He was referring to the Guardians of the Galaxy comics and the second set was updated was done better. Documentary about Marvel that you must watch. Doc explains everything regarding Guardians of the Galaxy and the concept, where it begins and where it ended up.
As well as documenting the Marvel Universe from beginning to end it's about eight episodes.
Awesome you interviewed Captain Hammer!
Now I want to make fan fiction about a crossover between Firefly and Guardians of the Galaxy!
🎶 Draaaax! The man they call Draaaax! 🎶
The fact that Sony didn't cast him as Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie is absolutely criminal
Need a new Firefly show!
Nathan Fillion was great in this! Also love him in The Rookie
I appreciate all 2nd tier (not my call) sci-fi like Farscape, Firefly, etc. but not a fan boy per se. But Fillion's cameo is so frickin delightful. He not only could be a great Nathan Drake, but possibly a great Quill as well.
Nice shout out for the wee book inn!
The suit reminded me of the Tardigrades that were featured in the Ant-man sequel.
I don’t want to give away spoilers but I will say this: I’ve seen every Guardians film including this 3rd. & I give this 3rd 5/5 stars & 10/10 stars. Even though it was probably the only Guardians film that had the least humor in it, it was the most serious, heart-warming, & best written. I knew right from the get-go when the 1st trailer dropped that it would be sad from the flashback of Rocket when he was a baby & I knew the storyline would revolve around him. He’s my favorite character in the group. The 1st thing I said when the screen blacked out of the end...I said in a whisper “That was beautiful.”
This movie was almost all jokes aside from Rocket's backstory.
@@userunknown1578 All the jokes had an importance to the story and were executed so much better than phase 4 and any jokes in P4. This is definitely one of my, if not my favourite MCU film
@@ShadeKill I'm not saying the jokes were bad, I am saying there was still a ton of humor. This was easily one of the best MCU films ever made... And certainly #1 for taking the audience on an emotional roller coaster.
@@userunknown1578 Ah, I see
@ShadeKill CA: Winter Soldier & Guardians of the Galaxy r the best
Now knowing he’s Canadian, it would be neat for Nathan Fillion to play Vindicator/Guardian if they ever do an Alpha Flight movie
He is always a joy to watch.
Love this guy. Great actor. Very underrated.
I was a big fan of Firefly. So anytime I see Nathan Fillion on screen, I'm happy.
I loved his character in Guardians!!
Love to see this interview.
We love Nathan!
Welcome back Cayde-6, we’ve missed you.
Everyone is talking about Uncharted and Firefly but guys that's Hal Jordan the GOAT Green Lantern.
OMG the Wee Book Inn on Whyte Ave in Edmonton is the best!! I love that Nathan went there a ton and loves it.
I hear there's a writers strike. A perfect time for more Captain Hammer.
you also had a family with firefly and serenity and now this you are a great actor and true to your fans and we love you. BTW I've been you fan since 2 guys and a pizza place with your other buddy RR
"What procedure, bro?!"

i'm still waiting for live-action halo show/movie/short-film where Nathon plays as Buck again
Shout out from Edmonton 🇨🇦
His brother was my principal as a kid. Nice guys both of them
Awesome actor and voice actor/person. For the gamers in the room, wish he’d come back and voice Cayde in Destiny 2 video game. Was a better game when he and his character were in it. Made it funny.
He’s back ☺️☺️☺️
I didn’t know he voiced a character in the first guardians of the galaxy movie that’s so cool, I love Nathan Fillion so much
Have you seen Slither?
@@OMGtheykilledKenny42 no but I looked it up and I’m definitely going to now such a good cast and director!!!
really good interview. I wish I could have been more shallow when I was in hollywood and burbank. I just had so many old dudes hitting on me I got grossed out. Hoping for a real art cinema revolution this year. I mean, yeah, You guys know how to do it and ya got the money. Lets start again at making American films worth watching.
I was really surprised to see him looking more fit. He really fits and should play as Nathan Drake more and more.
He would've been a brilliant Simon Williams/Wonder Man
The armor looks like a weaponized Fatsuit, which is weird as hell but absolutely fits in with the Guardian's strangeness. It's just disappointed that it's a character we probably won't see ever again, Carja isn't exactly a major Marvel recurring villain.
They all look like flesh colored Michelin Men..
I wish I still hade the comics I owned in the early 60’s.
I didn't know this handsome, funny, talented man was Canadian... but now that I say it out loud, it's pretty obvious.
I recently thought how Alan Tudyk was in "Dodgeball", and then wondered how it would have been with Nathan in the lead role.
Dude that's Cayde-6 from Destiny! Never knew it was him, so cool.
I thought he sounded familiar and had to look it up. I’m shocked
He was a hilarious addition! 💓😆
Wee Book Inn on Whyte Ave shout out! Love that store.
I was really astonished when I saw the one and only Richard Castle working as a security guard in a big meatball/planet reasearch centre somewhere on the other side of the universe.
hell yeah, they need to give Fillian a bigger role in the MCU
i think he didnt watch GoTG 2 cause i know he wouldve said its Yondu' burial scene playing Cat Stevens "Father and Son" when asked what his favorite song in GoTG accross the trilogy.
I will always remember this man for his fantastic role as buck from halo
Ahh loved him can’t wait hear him again in destiny after couple years of not being there
I too cried 4 times if not more !
I'm glad he was able to get into the MCU! I look forward to his next character also; I'd like him to be Wonder-man.
That could help Vision personality become more human.
His buddy is gone I doubt any idiot a Disney will be offering him a mcu job. you'll see him in some DC movies I'm sure of it.
I'm not gay, but Nathan Fillion is Nathan Fillion
I could imagine a good Uncharted movie directed by James Gunn with Nathan Fillion playing Nathan Drake. Uncharted 4 style. I don't give up. :D
I know man... unbelievable they didn't cast him. He even did a fan film of Uncharted that perfectly captured the essence of the games.
Nathan is in the GG3... I might watch it now.
he looks like the host on best ever food review show channel
They are both great
A+ actor and person
I'd love to see Nathan Fillion and Zachary Levi on screen together.
I am sure James can find a way for that to happen with Shazam.
He needs a major role in the dc universe so many great characters he could knock out the park.
A CCR man after my own heart♥
Guy Gardner🔥🔥
It’s nice that we’re starting to see some crossover with actors from the MCU and DCEU (DCU? They need to settle on an official name), and that’s mostly because of James Gunn. Sure Ryan Reynolds (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Green Lantern, Deadpool 1 & 2) and Alice Braga (The New Mutants, The Suicide Squad) were in Marvel and DC movies long before, but they weren’t a part of the MCU and DCEU. But now we have Nathan Fillion (GotG 1 & 3, The Suicide Squad), Idris Elba (Thor 1-3, Avengers: Infinity War, The Suicide Squad), Michael Rooker (GotG 1 & 2, The Suicide Squad, GotG Holiday Special), Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad, GotG 3), Jennifer Holland (The Suicide Squad, GotG 3), Sean Gunn (GotG 1-3, The Suicide Squad, GotG Holiday Special), Sylvester Stallone (GotG 2 & 3, The Suicide Squad), Taika Waititi (Thor 3 & 4, Avengers: Infinity War, The Suicide Squad), and Flula Borg (The Suicide Squad, GotG Holiday Special). Technically, John Cena (The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker) and Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn And The Movie With The Stupidly-Long Name, The Suicide Squad) are also in the MCU, cuz their pictures are shown in the map scene in the GotG Holiday Special.
There’s prolly more that I’ve missed, but my point is that it’s nice to see some crossover from competing companies, instead of what we used to see before, where it seemed like if you were in one universe, then you wouldn’t be casted in the other.
What would have been awesome would be to have Fillian and Ejiofor in the same unit in Guardians.
