    Welcome to another piano tutorial from Merriam's Online Academy. In today's tutorial, we will be learning how to play “Musette in D Major" by Johann Sebastian Bach. This piece can be found in the Royal Conservatory Celebration Series Piano Repertoire Grade 3. It features some impressive jumps and upbeat character. Some of the main challenges of this piece include:
    1. Sixteenth note rhythms
    2. Making large jumps on the keyboard
    3. Articulation and dynamics

    About Hilary McLaughlin:

    Hilary McLaughlin is a classically-trained pianist and teacher in the Greater Toronto Area. She has won awards for her performances in numerous festivals, competitions, and showcases. Hilary has performed both as a soloist and chamber musician in Canada and Great Britain. In 2017, Hilary made her professional debut as a soloist with the York Chamber Ensemble and has since performed with them on numerous occasions. She accompanies choirs regularly, and plays as a guest soloist in various venues throughout the year.
    Hilary received her ARCT in Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music and her Master’s of Piano Pedagogy and Performance from the University of Toronto. She has spoken at several conferences on her research and has been published by the CFMTA and the Clavier Companion magazine. Hilary’s students have successfully completed RCM exams, entered undergraduate music programs, and won festival competitions. Her teaching focuses on the production of beautiful tone quality through physical technique. In addition, she trains her students to listen critically to their playing and to make musical decisions artistically and independently. Hilary has a passion for teaching and endeavours to inspire her students with an appreciation for music, giving them skills with which to enjoy and explore the many facets of the musical world.
