Y'alls faces during this whole song were priceless, this is what voiceplay does, make you scrape your jaw up off the ground from the sheer shock of how amazing and creative they are 💜
@@weaintraisedrightpodcast thank you all so much for a great reaction to Voice Play. Miracle Of Sound messaged Voice Play and said it was one of the most creative covers they heard. They said great job lads. I give this 10 alehorns out of 10.
@@weaintraisedrightpodcast would you please put these three from Voice Play on your list. 1. The Dragonborn Comes Skyrim from the video game. 2. Halo, the theme song from the Halo video game. The composer of the music said it was amazing & the best he ever heard. At the end of this song Scott Porter who was one of the founding members of Voice Plays gives a tribute to one of the fallen collaborators of the group. As with all Voice Play videos always wait until the credits roll before stopping any of their videos or you may miss something. 3. Your reactions were so much fun to watch!! J None was a permanent member of Voiceplay from 2018 to 2021, he was recruited by the US Navy and is singing with them for 5 years. You have not reacted to anything with him before, Anthony Gargiula was featured in Seven Nation Army. Miracle of Sound commented, gave them a rating 10 raised alehorns out of 10! Voiceplay refers to that as rap, it was written by a friend of theirs, named in their comments. Their arrangements are done by either Layne (beatboxer) or Geoff (bass) they trade off month to month. When Layne arranges, you will find Geoff further in the basement, like this one. I am enjoying your journey down the Voiceplay rabbit hole. Geoff started doing solo work during the pandemic. You just reacted to Home Free's cover of Man of Constant Sorrow, Geoff did a cover of it in April. You will really enjoy it, including an original bridge that he wrote.
As I told a couple of other reactors: It is like they got together in the back of a bar or somewhere and said, "We can start off with a chant, move it up to a type of hard ballad, then Elli can let loose his inner rock god, and what the heck, let's throw in some rap! We have everything else in there, why not? Hey, Geoff, the people want subharmonics? Let's give it to them! BOO-YA!"
Someone commented on another channel that the rap fit with what Vikings would do. They said it was called flyting which is sort of a taunting poem that they would hurl at their adversaries.
Valhalla Calling Me..........Geoff. ''I'm calling Valhalla guys'', just wait....😉😂, and some guys upon hearing Geoff be like, ''am I sure my balls dropped???????'' hahahaha
Hey, y'all, Me again from the insanely long info dump on your first VoicePlay reaction video. First, good job in Eli's name! People battle with that one a lot, so it really makes me happy when people actually put in the effort to call him by his actual name. Second, I'm so glad I subscribed to your channel. Your reaction was truly priceless. Third: I thought the rap interlude was particularly fitting because not only was it delivered with *perfection* on J's part, but also it was so perfectly on-vibe for the ancient Norse art of Flyting. Because of *course* the Norse had rap battles. How could they not. (One of my favourite myths involves a Flyting match between Freya and Loki. *chef's kiss* Premium Norse Drama. And the old Norse *lived* for their drama!) Fourth, yeah, they will *always* do something you didn't expect, have a take on it you didn't think was possible, or simply blow a cover out of the water. Most of their work, a lot of fans would call a re-invention or reimagining of the song. Only a few are closer to traditional covers with only a little liberty taken. But every single note of it will be good! Even the songs of theirs I don't particularly care for (their discography has so many entries in it, everyone is bound to have a few they don't super love, after all), I can acknowledge are beautifully constructed pieces of music. Fifth... uh, I really like lists. So you can probably expect them when I comment! Sixth, I can't wait to watch you watch more, and good *lord* am I looking forward to your Nothing Else Matters reaction!
This was a fun reaction to watch! Loved your expressions! And yeah, it made me ready to head off to war! 😂 VoicePlay really has a way of turning a song sideways and doing their own thing with it while still, somehow, keeping the integrity of the original intact. They blow our minds on a regular basis. ❤
Loved your reaction guys. I'm there for anything VoicePlay/Geoff related, just subscribed and looking forward to more reactions. One thing you'll never be with VP/Geoff is bored, they constantly change things up and surprise you. People said "You can't A Cappella rock". VP - "We did"! "You can't A Cappella metal". VP - "We did that too"! "You absolutely can't have rap in A Cappella". VP - "Guess what we just did"! Just one reason why I love listening to these guys so much apart from their wonderful voices! 🙂👍
I know what you guys mean, that one low note literally feels like it rumbles your whole being when you hear it. This whole song just resonates in a way that just gets you pumped. You know what I mean?
Recent ones by J None (in the navy right now) Nothing Else Matters, this one, a few shorts or minis. Others you might enjoy: Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, Halo theme, My Mother Told Me, the post-apocalyptic trilogy: Warriors (Imagine Dragons), Dream On (Aerosmith), Seven Nation Army (White Stripes), I Can't Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt), Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush/Stranger Things), In the Hall of the Mountain King (Edvard Grieg 1875), Carry On My Wayward Son (Kansas), Friends on the Other Side (J None came back from the Navy for the lead), Queen in 5 Minutes and tons more.
👍👍Y’all got Eli’s name right, just FYI. Another reactor pointed out that Eli was hitting Whitney Houston notes. Literally. He was up on the “I Will Always Love You” range. And…Eli also created all the backgrounds you saw in Unreal Engine. I found the rap much easier to follow with closed captions on. ‘cause J was firing that off at warp speed. He had a very amusing (to me) moment of panic when he realized he was going to have to lip sync that to record the video. Also lol at the comments about raiding a village. Yeah, every time I hear it I start looking for a sword. I’ve seen them live. You think Geoff rocks you in headphones?! Try hearing him blasting through those ten foot tall speakers venues have. He did a slide at one point that rumbled right down my spine. Y’all may be interested in their cover of Aerosmith’s Dream On, or Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters. The later has J again, and the first features a kid wii was just on one of those singing competition shows. I think it was America’s Got Talent but I’m not sure. At any rate, he’s damn good too. Hoist the Colors (from one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) is slower, but has much of the same vibe as this one. And you get to hear Geoff slide up into Eli’s range. It’s impressive AF.
I wish the music audio was a bit better, but just watching your guy's reactions throughout the entire video was phenomenal! I had so much fun watching you guys. Got a new subscriber! :)
Voiceplay struck again. They they keep improving even when you don't think they can surpass themselves. You also have to respect the dedication they have, J None's plane was three hours late and the rest were all dressed up in their furs during a Florida heatwave and no Air-conditioning 🥵🥵🥵 This song is also the sequel to My Mother Told Me totally recommend you watch that one. If you to see a lighter/funnier side try Boy Bonds in 5 Minutes
Great reactions guys. Voiceplay released.... In The Air Tonight.... Friday. Geoff released .... I'm See Fire... 2 Fridays ago. Both are absolutely awesome.

(Voice)Played again! Those rap lyrics were written by them, and they did that in Golden Hour and Geoff's solo of Man of Constant Sorrow. My answer to which song is my favorite of theirs is--the next one. Their next release is even more intricate if you can believe it and it should be out soon. It's better than the pop icon's version that actually sang it, and he's one of my all time favorites. Try Carry On My Wayward Son or Warriors.
Hi Guys! Loving your reactions to VP and Geoff! As others have said, this was a 'sequel' to 'My Mother Told Me' - same costumes and makeup, with Cesar wearing the same cloak as Jose Rosario Jr. (the guest singer in MMTM), the previous one was done with green screen, as they were all in different locations (due to when it was made..!), Eli did the backgrounds in Unreal Engine again, but this time they rented a VR studio with huge LED screen walls, so we saw what they did, and how they were able to move the backgounds - although the studio AC was out, so in all that fur, in 90 degree heat (Florida!) - this was epic! 😁
I can’t remember which reactor did a comparison maybe Jennifer Glazhoffer on Eli’s super high rock tenor verse the closest she got was Whitney Houston from I will always love you! Super high and super powerful
love to see you guys react to some of Geoff's solo stuff. Try Blackbird if you want to see his range... (he doesn't consider himself a bass singer.) Try 16 tons if you just want something fun :)
@MiracleofSound, aka Gavin Dunn, composed this-he’s the pinned comment for this video-gave it ten out of ten alehorns. Gotta love creativity. Point of note: Vikings and Scots actually used to engage in competitions where they’d verbally abuse each other in poetic ways-it was called “flyting.” So it totally DID belong in a way. So glad you appreciated Eli’s gritty tenor-that man is a solid rock god. There’s always a lot of attention on Geoff because he’s so extraordinary, but all these guys are amazing. Please, you guys, check out Tomi P’s Jericho-he’s also an a capella artist, so everything you hear, he does with his voice (tho there’s some magic done in post).
