Such a brilliant way to end a series. I've never seen anyone end a show with something as graceful as a silent group reflection. You can look at them and see that they're thinking about how they became who they are and how they got to this very point in their lives and it's truly moving.
Mark Galan I agree Mark. They're thinking about the actual time they spent together as real life friends/family and it's actually ending. The director knew they would get this perfect scene
I always come back to watch this once in a while and it never fails to make me cry. as much as the final episode annoyed me, this final scene was the most perfectly written ending ever
Seriously. I don't think anyone appreciates this enough or gives it enough credit. Alot of the final series was exceptionally poor, but this last scene is an absolute masterclass in heart string pulling.
Kahzi it's a brilliant show. It is no doubt my favorite show I've ever watched. The lady who wrote this show, benji, is the same woman who writes orange is the new black.
8 years of following up with the series. Memories from the first episode to finishing this whole thing 8 years later. To actually see Silas and Shane actually grew older during the show and learnt about their lives during the show an amzing thing for a tv series. This ending brought couple of happy tears to my eyes.
best tv show ever. following them through all of their experiences I felt like Part of the family, and seeing it end brought tears to my eyes. Happy tears. Weeds will forever be the best show. EVER.
I know everyone loves orange is the new black and it's true that myself as a writer even, I can't see anything but how brilliant Jenji Johan is... but I'm sorry weeds was so much better.
@@zerobg9646 I did watched hard enough. Watched with my daughter and girlfriend. They loved it. Me, I think I was expecting too much. I liked weeds because they went on nutty adventures, they got into some crazy situations, funny characters come in and out and so forth and was always on the go. To me I got tired seeing OITNB same setting, woman in jail with the woe is me vibe, week in week out. It didn't do it for me. Sorry not a fan of the show.
At least for me, even though I liked Orange Is the New Black, I didn't really like Piper. She blamed other people, even people she loved, for all her screw-ups. Nancy didn't do that. I always liked Nancy, as imperfect as she was. She knew she'd messed up. It's hard to love a show when you really don't like the main character. Both shows had a strong group of central characters but, it was really about Nancy and she held that show up. It was a consistently better show.
I love that this was the song they played at the end of the first one, and now on the last one. Forever the best tv show, and cast. I've never seen a better show.
Idc what anyone says. The ending of weed was dope. It was like all of her luck carried her to this point almost unscaved but at the expense of everyone near her. N in the end she meets the goal of becoming rich and taking care of her family but she unknowingly sacrifices her relationships with the people she loved most. Her penalty is dealt thru loneliness and she eventually accepts it because its whats best for everyone else.... Bitter sweet and beautifully written imo
The part that just kills me is "But this day, by the way, went too fast." That perfectly describes the way it feels. I want more, but at the same time, I know this is the best thing for the series. Very moving.
That's Rilo Kiley and Jenji Kohan must be a fan. She used their music in Weeds and OITNB. "Arms Outstretched" never gets old but a lot of their music does that, captures feelings perfectly.
I literally cried at this part. I'm so sad that this is the end. I wanted to see if Andy would ever come back. if Shane went to rehab. if nancy ever found love again...
I love that all it takes to cut through the tension and self reflection in this scene is Weed, it's like a character saying the film title during the movie. Such a great ending!
My favorite TV show of all time, things I love about the show, the dark and on point humour, the predicaments, the characters find them salves in, and the personality contrasts between characters, was so colossal, it just made the scenes, so interesting to watch. For example, the scenes with San-Jay and U-Turn, Heylia and Celia, Shane and Isabelle ECT, I felt like no one could of played any of the parts better, then the actors who were casted. And Nancy was so reckless, charming and unpredictable, yeah I just loved everything about the Show.
Love this song so much because I binged this show and got attached to the characters. Now every time I listen to it it reminds me of the first bitter sweet time I finished weeds a great show !
4 years later, you can read his lips saying "this is some good shit" just don't know what Andy said back. I think the actors were actually smoking one and he made a joke.
Literally just finished the series for possibly the 10th time. This scene with Nancy, Doug, Silas, Andy and Shane gets me every time. I watch with tears rolling down my cheeks like it is the 1st time seeing it.
I heard this song on the radio today. I had completely forgotten about it and it reminded me that I watched weeds over and over about 10 times and this was my favorite track... From the end of the first episode and the end of the last it always fit. I'm so glad I heard it today, so nostalgic
This scene really hits now that my family is all grown up. My family is a pot smoking family. My mom didn’t souls sell pot, but she wasn’t afraid to bend the rules to make ends meet including selling weed time to time. My siblings are all grown one of my brothers has passed away and I feel this is where my mom is now trying to figure out who she is without all of us. When we do get together all of us the few times a year that we do. We end it the same way mom and all the siblings sitting outside smoking a blunt , and thinking about life. Enjoying the moment.
I keep getting chills reading some of these comments talking about the series and how well this ending was pulled off. I couldnt agree more. Such a bittersweet, amazing show
im over here bawling like a baby! This episode gets me every time, thinking about the memories over all of those years and ;""( i was so sad to see it end
I just watched the series all the way through for the 2nd or 3rd time and it makes me so nostalgic. I turned 20 in 2003, so it was basically ran all through my 20s and is interspersed with so many memories. It seems like a million years ago, watching the first season with my gf in my cloudy college apartment.
This ending was so amazing, I love that this was the song that played at the end of the first episode. There were so many parallels, this was just such a graceful ending.
Now I watched it again. And again it was so good. I am here to read other comments of soulbrothers/sisters. The life is like a train a come and go. I wish the best for all of you friends. 💚
What a crazy roller coaster we all got to experience through Nancy(la blanca) and her family. This ending was a tough and beautiful good bye. Wishing the whole comment section nothing but the best. ( sorry but watching this ending again got me real good😁) Love you guys. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
God damn it! I still cry when I see this scene. It was like saying goodbye forever to some best friends. And it was pretty awesome to end the series with the same song the very first episode ended with.
this song... I can't even tell you what it is really... the lyrics the vulnerability of her voice... it's just a perfect combination. I noticed this song in the first episode too.

This really is one of the best endings a series has ever gotten... Great scene of reflection and with Rilo Kiley bringing it full circle, it couldn’t be better... Hopefully Starz reboot airs soon and is good!
God I love this show. Still coming back in 2020 to rewatch this scene, giving me goosebumps writing this. So fucking symbolic, it connects to my life and it just gets me.
Andy showed up one day, not expecting to stay...years later has stayed with them through thick and thin. All amazing characters but Andy is definitely my favorite from this show.
I have such mixed feelings about the sequel series in production. The finale was depressing, but it was true to the series and all the things Nancy did over the course of 8 seasons. And the final visual metaphor Doug and Andy “the backup” Nancy “the ring leader” Shane and Silas “the future”
Just finished the show, again, years later. Still had tears rolling down my face during this scene. It's such a beautiful end with everyone reflecting on the rough journey that led them to a pretty successful life in the end.
first time I saw this episode I teared up almost instantly when i realized it was the song from the first episode. hands down one of the best ways to end a series
I'd enjoyed the the ending. It was somewhat a departure and not the conclusion I would have expected, but this scene finishes their journey perfectly. A little tidbit, this song "With Arms Outstretched" was played at the end of the 1st episode of season 1 of Weeds.
Thought this was a great way to end the show. I appreciated the realistic place that they all end up in (except for Doug. His ending was a little silly but it suited him). Silas is at peace with his family and career and doesn’t hold any grudge towards his mom….likely because as much as she might have screwed up, she also enabled him to GET to where he is in the business, by allowing him in from almost the beginning. He loves his mom but he also understands why his wife doesn’t and makes it clear he’s not going to “make her like Nancy”. I got the impression Megan would ease up on Nancy, eventually. Shane’s ending was heartbreaking but was inevitable. He was always a screwed up kid, and I don’t think it’s fair to put it ALL on Nancy. If you watched the entire series you know Shane was traumatized by watching his dad die all of the sudden right in front of him. Nancy’s mistake was not doing something about this early. Instead she ignored it, he got worse, and it all culminated with Pilar. THEN, she somehow did both the right thing and the wrong thing in response to that: she wouldn’t allow him to be punished for something that ultimately was her fault, but she also once again didn’t address the underlying problems that led to him killing someone. Finally, Shane seems to be doing well, and decides to be the “responsible” one in the family and becomes a police officer…..only for the rest of his criminal family to become wealthy while he sinks further into alcoholism. I like to think he eventually moved in with Nancy, separated himself from that loser cop, and got his life together. Shane got a raw deal. I thought Andy was too harsh on Nancy and put too much blame on her. Yes, she did string him along because she was selfish and didn’t want to do everything without him, but he also couldn’t stay away. Like he said, they were a family when he needed one. He and Nancy were both codependent on each other to an unhealthy level, so it was bittersweet to see that he finally moved on and became a father and was happy, but also couldn’t allow himself to be sucked back onto Nancy’s life. And Nancy….sheesh. You can’t sugarcoat it: she did a lot of terrible things, but I do think she genuinely cared about her family and just wanted what was best for everyone. She got the second chance at being a mom with Stevie and I like that we are shown that she got it right this time; Stevie was a perfectly normal, well adjusted teenager….nothing like his brothers. Nancy did a good job, probably with David’s help. That’s why it was heartbreaking to see she became a widow yet again. And she did so well with Stevie that he wanted to go to boarding school, and it was so sad knowing she was resisting because she didn’t want to be alone. Watching her try and get everyone to keep her from being alone was so sad but fitting. She finally accomplished what she wanted, but at a pretty high cost. But I did like that in this last scene, you can see the gears turning in her head and you just KNOW she has already come up with an idea that’s going to occupy her time and be her next big adventure….even if she’ll be doing it alone.
I'm on my 3rd time watching Weeds on netflix. I'll never get tired of it. The last clip was a real tear Jerker . Doug is the real A-hole that gets me crazy every time He's on screen. God what a scumbag. But all in all, this is one of the best shows on netflix. And I luv "Rilo Kiley's" (Jenny Lewis)music
I went 3 years with out paying for tv so we had to watch movies all the time movies get played out quick so we went on to television series breaking bad and the Simpsons were a couple in rotation but weeds was on almost every night we would watch it over and over and over again I know it by heart and whenever I’m in a funky mood or feeling Nostalgic I’ll watch it again and it make me feel like home i can’t even express to you how much I love this show the humor is perfect 👌
Suleyman Osman I think it was the prefect ending yah they didn’t get together but they finally kissed Andy finally got to lay with Nancy then in the end Nancy realizes she could have had Andy from the get go and would have ended differently. Andy finally got the courage to say no and move forward and became happy showed everyone he wasn’t just a goofball that didn’t deserve love he found his happiness
great ending, so many memories flash in my head when watching this, perfect song too, although it's so sad. i will truly miss this show, but it will always remain my favourite forever.

I totally agree! This song just does a good job at explaining an ending, beautifully

Sometimes life is just about the mistakes we make no matter how hard we try and what we become out of it
And today i finally watch the last episode . This is one of the best TV series that i have e ever watvh
Beautiful ending , just so simple and filled with feels
I thought I was the only one sad by this ending watching it now on Netflix
I'm on my 3rd time watching Weeds on netflix. I'll never get tired of it. The last clip was a real tear Jerker . Doug is the real A-hole that gets me crazy every time He's on screen. God what a scumbag. But all in all, this is one of the best shows on netflix. And I luv "Rilo Kiley's" (Jenny Lewis)music
I felt like I was over doing it but I can't get tired of it..it's still the best thing to watch on net or tv
U can tell they was sad also
I went 3 years with out paying for tv so we had to watch movies all the time movies get played out quick so we went on to television series breaking bad and the Simpsons were a couple in rotation but weeds was on almost every night we would watch it over and over and over again I know it by heart and whenever I’m in a funky mood or feeling Nostalgic I’ll watch it again and it make me feel like home i can’t even express to you how much I love this show the humor is perfect 👌
I literally cried watching this scene. It was a perfect series. Just perfect. I still am sad Nancy and Andy didnt get to be together. 😭😭😭😭😭
