Glad you decided to do a vid on this. What spectacular scenery to enjoy. You boys looked like yas had a ball out there. Steve looks like he was out of his comfort zone but he got through it like a champ!
Thanks for watching mate, yeah steve was a bit out of his comfort zone but was determined to get it done , a few sketchy bits but pretty good. Some spectacular scenary in there, the gopro just doesn’t do it justice
Glad you showed this one... Always a great little canyon, no matter how many times you do it. I have always appreciated the diligence of whoever keeps the ropes and logs serviceable.
Thanks Shad. Will be seeking this jaunt out. Tried finding it previously from a Tyler Thompson review, but weather wasn't in our favour, roads closed due to massive wet.
My father grew up in Lithgow in the 20s and 30s, his father having mining interests there. At weekends, my father, his brother and their mates used catch a train to one of the stations on the way to Bell, and go exploring. In due course, my father took us to the various places mentioned here, and it's great to see them again. I've recently been visiting some of the area south from the Bell's Line. An interesting walk is from the parking area at the end of the Pierce's Pass road. This takes you along a pretty easy path to Rigby Hill - I know the Rigby after whom it's named. There is one section where the path goes along a narrow ledge where you need to exercise care. As the path goes through knee. high grass, it's not one for summer. There are great views south towards Blackheath and Govett's Leap, and east down the Grose Valley
That’s awesome, my grandparents grew up in Portland, also mining background. There are so many places up there and im sure some have been forgotten about and soon to be lost with national parks slowly shutting us out. Its such a great area and we are lucky to have it here so close. Thanks for commenting and sharing 🤠👍
@@shaddonaghue The whole area from Oberon through to Mudgee and Gulgong is perhaps my favourite part of the State, rivalled only by Pearl Beach (in the days before the glitterati found it). About 15 or so years ago, my niece bought a property outside Gulgong and is carrying on the family links to the area.
Thanks mate, have a google on Barcoo campground, its a bush camp just off glow worm tunnel rd its on galah mountain rd. Its a nice spot, also close to glow worm tunnel so could use that as a base. Glow worm tunnel road has been recently upgraded so its not too bad at the moment, deep pass road has been graded as well.
What a stunning place to do a walk but Unpro didn't look too impressed lol. He had that worried look on his face a lot. Must admit though those ropes and such would be a bit worrying, Not something I have done.
Yeah its a bit out of your comfort zone if your not used to that sort of stuff. Chuck it on your list for next time. Can always walk doen to the first section and turn around if you want
Great video would love to go there got lost wasnt sure what turn off to take from glow worm tunnel road or what location to put in maps any pointers? Would help thanks
hey mate i've tried to get out here once before and got heavily bogged on some track on the way there. but i think. itook the wrong track because i only chose that way from sattellite view since i cant get a gps on it. do you have any tips on how to find it?
National Parks have upgraded the road and the signs, so should be a lot better now Glow worm tunnel rd the right into deep pass trail , try and follow that one. I use the gaia app on my phone, just the free version and it even had that canyon walk marked
@@shaddonaghue thanks mate I done it over the weekend, went to the campsite and kept going and got lost, but once we found our bearings it was absolutely amazing. Cheers buddy
Road is in great nick at the moment, just some waterbars to get over so depends on the clearance, there was a mazda cx7 in the carpark when we were there
