Thanks for this video! I'm rebuilding the 2150 carb on my grandpas 76 F100. She was running STRONG but sat for 6 years and now the carb is nasty and gunked up.
Old Ford mechanic here , great video , one thing you missed on your top cover at the back is your choke pull off diaphragm has three screws retaining it to your cover, you can start engine and see if it draws the arm down , if not replace the diaphragm, that's what cracks the choke open on cold starts, you did a great job.
Thanks! It was the first time I've rebuilt a carb on my own, so the video was a little self-serving to make sure I knew how to put everything back together. The truck is my baby. My grandpa bought it new when I was young. He sold it to my dad, who gave it to me when I graduated college. The old girl has been with me almost my whole life!
So glad i happened to bounce into Ur 2 bbl carb rebuild. I almost bounced right on over from watching the video becuz i don't even own a 2 bbl let alone be needing to rebuild it, luckily i was making a spot of tea at the time & just the video go on it's merry way. By the time the teapot began whistling U'd done captured my full undivided attention. I've watched countless DIY Tutorials on U-Tube on a full array of different topics & i've simply got to give U my KUDOS for being 1 of the best video instructors that i've yet to watch. Fact is IMHO Ur next tutorial ought to be on instructing ppl on how to properly teach over the streaming video Spectrum as it is a totally different environment from teaching in a classroom, (considering the world's current dilemma i'm certain a good many public educators would ardently agree that it's a whole new ballgame). Your attention to detail is A+, way way to many Tutorials skip over what they believe/think is unimportant, unnecessary or everyone already should know, in the meantime in a real life classroom a dozen arms shot up wanting to ask a question & yet another dozen eyeballs began to glaze over. Staying on Topic, again i gotta score U an A+. So many tutorials are so bent on being entertaining that i forget what the heck the video was supposedly suppose to be about. If i wanted to be entertained i'd of made a Google searched for an old Carol Burnett Variety Show. Same thing goes for yacking about next week's hunting trip to Alaska, what 's for supper or meeting Uncle Vinny who just happened to drop by while the video recorder was running. Ugh Anticipating questions & possible concerns that Ur viewers might have and answering them i gotta A+ U again on that as well. It was an all around excellent authorial. Perfect pitch with dry humor. Example of that would be when U were running into the obvious errs committed by whomever had performed the previous rebuild U didn't make a single negative comment or body slam, but everyone could distinctly hear U uttering the word "Dumbass" under Ur breath. LoL Speaking of Dumbass. Ur total omission of any curse words throughout the entire video is duly noted & highly appreciated. While i, myself, are thick skinned enough to not be offended by the occassional "F-Bomb" or "S-Storm" i never know who or what age group they might belong to may be standing over my left shoulder & also be watching. Enuff said, i just wanted to let U know exactly why it was that i pushed the "Subscribe" Button. Have a Great Day mon.
Thanks for this man. Pulled a 2150 from the scrap yard. She's all apart and soaking now. Ordered a kit from Mikes. Never did this stuff before. It's awesome. Will end up getting an offy intake for my 300ci and upgrading to this over the single brl carter on there.
Excellent video. A few tips to add. As pointed in other comment, it's a 2100, not a 2150. The hose attached to the cap of the carb should be longer and links to the electric choke.
Although mine is a 79, i noticed a couple things the previous owner lost...or forgot to put back in the carb when they messed with it. Thanks, very detailed video :-)
Thank you for this. So much great information and I was able to do my full rebuild with just this information. My carb was flooding my motor and I figured out it was a simple fix of my float missing the long spring I’m still glad I was able to learn to do a full rebuild
Your carb was so clean compared to mine. I found stipped wire in my float bowl, and sandy dirty grime everwhere. I think it got dragged behind another truck, then reinstalled.
super helpful! Thank you ive never rebuilt a carb and i just bought a 1973 grand torino that is in desperate need of a rebuild due to the leaking diaphragm on the accelerator
I really appreciate that you made it this video, also I will like to make a question, I hope that someone can give me an answer. I have a 78 ford thunderbird, for around 6 or 7 months I'm trying to fix it the carburator but looks like nobody knows what's going on three guys check already and they doesn't do any good on, after the car runs 15 or 20 minutes the engine wants to shut off by self, but if I push the accelerator the car stays on, if I release the pedal the engine stops . I hope someone can give me a help, thank you very much.
Over 20 years ago i tried rebuildig the 2150 in my '74 Maverick....It came out ok, and ran well, except when I floored it, I got a big plume of black smoke out the tailpipe like an squid
The left screw really made it spit some fuel 3 turns out on start up lol watch the exaust spit some fuel and the 2 1/2 not XD gas mpg going to suck like i like to say you do one side you do the same to the other.
Great video! Does anybody know where the electric anti stall dashpod is spliced into the harness the original way? On my 69 Cougar it is hooked up to the starter solenoid, but does not look original... Thanks for any hint!
Hello, i recently chatted on a youtube video with you. I have been wrenching on my truck that i resurrected from the middle of a woods..i am about to finally get it on the road but the carb has been giving me trouble...the power valve kept leaking..i finally may have that solved but now i see a small stream of gas squirt out from what appears to be a brass pin located above the right idle mixture adjustment behind the accelerator pump. whenever i rev the engine, it streams out from the side of the "pin" and it runs very rich.
I just acquired a 1973 F100 and will probably tackle a rebuild. Just starting watching. Curious what led to a rebuild? Issues you were having? My truck takes forever to start. Also lags when accelerating. Will also die if not completely warmed up...Also any suggestions on proper re-assembly as far as order of parts, screws, etc
I had left some ethanol gas in the fuel system over the winter and it pretty much wrecked all of the rubber seals in the carb. I always stay away from ethanol in my older vehicles but got caught in a situation where I didn't have a choice and I ended up paying the price.
Needs petroleum jelly on some bolt up gaskets you can tear them especially the power valve so like a oil gasket on a filter it needs a little tlc. Also so on i like to do a float adjustment to spec and most farmers do the idle screws by ear so its a do it yourself thing with a vac gauge, most important for vac readings have the engines timing to spec and then you can take vacuum and divide by 2 thats ur power valve in inchs of spec step up one for if its 12 inchs vac at idle do a 6.5" power valve that will help make it not run rich at idle for 2150s they say 2.1\2 start there its by spec you start a 1.1\2 turns on some models i have a 2150 most important the power valve clses only at idle the most vacuum which enriches idle from mixture screws
I have the same carb, I have an issue with it running rich. I replaced the power valve, turned in idle screws and am still having an issue. Do you have any advice? Float level, jets etc?
Michael Canacari an aftermarket electric fuel pump will push fuel past the float valve. May need a fuel regulator with return line if running a fuel pump other than the original to cut the fuel pressure down.
That is incorrect. Look at ANY Ford factory exploded view of that carb. Also, I have personally rebuilt many factory sealed carbs over the years and they all come assembled that way.
@@yiddishlion2037 Fords fault XD i didn't seem to understand either though i dont think its going to blast psi either way. They had better carbs in 60s i looked up back awhile ago, Though motorcraft carbs work well.
I noticed you didn't keep track of which needle went into which jet - is it possible that 2 1/2 turns on the wrong needle might not result in the same fuel flow as that of the needle originally in that jet?
Phoebe Ann Sharp It’s possible, but they were pretty close to the same rotation. After the rebuild, one may need to “tweak” the adjustment on the needles if the warm idle is too rich or too lean, but it worked out great for me! Maybe just a little lucky.
Great video; thanks. My rebuild kit included a replacement spacer that goes between the manifold and the carb. The old one, p/n EOAE-98589-BA, is about 9/16" thick, but the new one is only 1/4". Is this going to work OK, other than a possible stud-length issue?
I have read that a smaller spacer can cause more transfer of heat into the carb which causes the fuel in the carb to boil. This can make hot starts difficult because of flooding.
Quick question. I have a 1973 F100 and at about 18 seconds in, The second arm you take off, what is that for? That arm just dangles on mine and is not connected to anything and im a little confused at to what i should be hooking up there. Nothing coming off the cab that looks like i should go there like yours.
Thanks for this video! I'm rebuilding the 2150 carb on my grandpas 76 F100. She was running STRONG but sat for 6 years and now the carb is nasty and gunked up.
best video on the 2150 carb I found great job
Nicely done. Very helpful as I prepare tackling rebuilding my 1975 Cougar 2150 for the first time in the cars life.

Best Carb rebuild video ever!!! Great Job!!!
For someone who is not a mechanic, that was excellent, and you have a lovely truck there too
Thanks! It was the first time I've rebuilt a carb on my own, so the video was a little self-serving to make sure I knew how to put everything back together. The truck is my baby. Good rebuilt carb great work you have the most patient work good mechanics all have there patience
Thanks for the helping hand!!! Rebuilt mine got my ole ‘78 ford
Very cool that you got Ron Swanson to narrate!
Thanks for the Video, I love your Truck, It's awesome.
Excellent and thorough rebuild video. Thank you.

Great video, I watched it very carefully. I’m gonna refer to it as I rebuild my 84 Bronco ii carburetor! Thanks! Did you soak the choke assembly too?
Nice. Rebuilding same carb on old wagoneer.
At 3:55, that lever your taking off the choke plate, is it keyed or splined so it can only go back on one way?
Great video! Does anybody know where the electric anti stall dashpod is spliced into the harness the original way? On my 69 Cougar it is hooked up to the starter solenoid, but does not look original... Thanks for any hint!

What all tools did you use
has el video en español. aquí en sur américa usamos mucho esos carburadores en nuestros vehículos.

Cherry chapstick has been the best thing to use for years for serious gearheads.
Clean the carb exterior before removal to help keep insides clean

Why ford use a 2 barrel carb on a truck instead of a 4 barrel carb
Why are you worried about "breaking" those vacuum line sections that someone stuck a screw in to make a plug with? Just buy some plugs/caps
Awesome about to do the same carburetor, where did you get the gasket kit?
Got it at Napa Auto Parts. Pretty standard part. Most auto stores will have them. Set me back about $20.
You left one part on the carburetor
Where did you get the rebuild kit? Any chance you have the part number
I just went to Napa auto parts and told them it was for a 2150 carb. I bought the Napa-branded version as it was a couple dollars cheaper.
Hi there, are those two brass jets the same size .. cheers
Yes they are identical.
Thanks my friend
Great video if it’s on mute.

At 32 min 44 sec you put the gasket on incorrect its suppose to be below the back metal cup metal to metal leaks under the housing under enuff psi
That is incorrect. Look at ANY Ford factory exploded view of that carb. Also, I have personally rebuilt many factory sealed carbs over the years and they all come assembled that way.
