When I first saw the interior of this car I immediately thought 'wow!' it's simple and clean and looks how a car should be. One of the things which puts me off some cars and even some models of the Mercedes is that they tend to overdo it with the interior and it can look a bit too flash. I think with this car they have the balance right between making it look classy, but at the same time still keeping a simple car look to it. Lexus also seem to do this well in their cars too.
I literally picked up a 2018 GLE 350 today as a courtesy car and his interview is actually spot on. The interior is supposed to be luxurious - no chance! The switch gear is cheap and not ergonomic at all with many buttons being badly placed, it's got a stupid squared off steering wheel, the binnacles are not clear with the wrong speeds being emphasised (i.e. 40, 60, 80mph) and the seats feel rubbery and you sit on them rather than in them. There's no keyless entry, no auto high beam, no auto or remote folding mirrors (you have to have the ignition on and fold them before opening the door - yeah that's clever) and the ride is very fidgety and unsettled, especially at higher speeds. Lots of turbo lag, tiny wing mirrors, very artificial steering with little feel and it aggressively tries to return to centre all the time and a £63k price tag lol. Let's not forget the left stalk being both the indicators, lights, front wipers, rear wipers, washers etc It is very quiet though, the glass is thick. The right stalk being the transmission selector isn't really my thing but it's not terrible either. Just a little odd. I really don't get all the hype for German cars. I had a BMW 330D and it feels like a toy car when you get, with tiny switch gear and you feel very enclosed along with the tiny windscreen. The steering was very artificial on that also. I much prefer cars where you can actually feel the road and know when it's reaching the limits rather than relying on the car and end up going beyond the point of no return.
I really do think it looks dated, indeed. It's the same Volvo has in their not yet fully updated cars like the V40: the panel under the dashboard screen really is getting quite ridiculous with the number buttons and all. It's very much subpar in comparison to for instance the Q7 and even Mercedes' own C, E and S class. Compare the interior designs; the time difference basically is 10 years (except the digital screen).
As a car trimmer easly can say that the guy doesn’t know what artificial leather mean. It is plastic that breaks when the sun is so strong and the cold weather work as well. Welcome to car upholstery world. And we can help with it - no problem !!! ✌️

Moreover, many consider the Discovery not to be among those. Personally, i prefer a Land Rover. If a Land Rover for some reason cant be in my hands, i take a Mercedes.
I don't get how the interior looks "dated" ? It's got an infotainment system that he rated highly and regardless of build quality that has nothing to do with how modern it looks. To me it looks like any other Mercedes interior

Take a look at the interior of the smaller GLC, that looks much more modern. The build quality is still very good. Every car gets old and there's nothing wrong with it, the M-Class was extremely good when it was new. But it's time for a new generation.

I think the design looks good; sporty but not vulgar. The interior doesn't look space-age, but it's a damn sight nicer than most cars.

Nowadays if you don't have big screens inside, people think its dated. But it is the opposite. Screens in a car are hideous. You can't change my mind.

I have a 2017 GLE 350 designo, it's brilliant, solid smooth and decent mpg, miles better than the range rover sport
