I own a fully loaded 2018 Mercedes GLE 400, which I bought Certified Pre-Owned with 29,000 km. I had to drive all the way to Sudbury, Ontario, to get it during the COVID pandemic. It’s been a phenomenal car overall! I follow the maintenance schedule promptly. Now at 90,000 km, both rear air springs have developed very fine leaks, which I had replaced at a Mercedes dealership for $700 each. At 40,000 km, the sensor switch that controls the Distronic system malfunctioned, and Mercedes replaced it under warranty; the switch is located in the steering column. Occasionally, I feel the ride is a bit harsh even in Comfort mode. This might be due to the front suspension sensors. I’m also very happy that it has physical climate controls-they’re easy to use and don’t distract from driving. Otherwise, I’ve had no issues.
Great purchase. Yes overall these are solid SUVs as they are based on the older platform, which is a good thing for reliability. Sounds like it’s been a solid runner for you.
Yes, I’m happy with my Mercedes, and I tend to keep my cars for about 10 years. Living in the Great White North, rust can be a big issue, but regular maintenance helps keep things running smoothly. Before this, I had a 2011 Ford Explorer V8, which reached 500,000 km with only a water pump issue. Before that, I drove a brand-new Lexus RX 330. The RX felt more like a dressed-up Toyota, whereas now, after driving a Mercedes, I really appreciate the difference that German engineering makes in terms of drivability. I can take those turns at high speed with confidence-it’s a whole new level of control!
I also have a GLE43 with 43k miles. Nice to know that yours made it to 200k with regular maintenance! What major items have you replaced and at what miles?
Bahahhahahahahhaha. Gle350 4matic? So you daily drive a 4 cylinder mercedes suv? Wow man I hope you have no problems, driving that in itself is just ehh
I bought a 2014 ML 350 earlier this year with almost 150K for $12K because it was a MB that Car Wizard recommended. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought a used MB. What I like about mine is it is non-turbo, no air suspension, and for a 2014 was in excellent exterior and interior shape. I really lucked out because whoever ordered this initially added a lot of options that normally don't come with a 350, I particularly enjoy using the adaptive cruise/distronic plus. I didn't like how the driver side window and steering wheel buttons were worn out showing the white plastic, so I replaced all those myself. Just did a Service B and the tech was surprised how good of a condition it was in. Drives awesome, no squeaks or creaks, comfortable, and fast enough for me.
I had a 2015 GLE550 for about 4 months. It was a CPO with 60k miles. After $12k in repairs covered by extended CPO warranty, I gave it back to the dealership. Both front axles were shot, rear shocks were done and had to be replaced, the oil pump quit, heated steering was not working and the rear lights were filling with water after every single rain. These cars are not well made, unfortunately.
@@ExoticCarPlayplace stay away from any German product that is assembled elsewhere, including USA. Not sure why but they cannot seem to get it right. And premium car quality is no longer what it used to bec those days are long gone.. between the big 3, my pick is audi. Runs with minimal problems first 10 years at least before it detonates..
If the shocks and axels were done for, it's the former owner's abusive treatment that caused the issues, not the manufacturer. Also, water in the rear lights sounds like it was a in an accident or the light were replaced by an aftermarket set and wasn't reported.
@@cooperalp wow, sorry to hear man, I have a 2012 Mercedes Benz ml550 with the b8 biturbo m278 engine, 140,000 miles and still runs like a top, I wonder if the car didn’t have the proper maintence maybe? Driven hard? I mean you could’ve just bought a lemon on accident, and didn’t know.
Thinking about buying one today. Trying to do my research. I hope it isnt a money pit like some Bmws.. Im looking for a sturdy and stylish vehicle thats reliable
@ExoticCarPlayplace the 2014 cls550 i was looking at had a bad carfax report. Too many accidents in the history. So I'm not gonna go with that one although it looks great

I have a 2017 GLE350, have had a year and it hasn’t missed a beat. Whilst it’s now starting to show its age, it’s solid and reliable.
Nice. Yes it’s from the older and durable platform
My 17 GLE43 has 200k and still going strong. Zero issues. Just do regular maintenance and replace wear and tear items. The W166 is a solid vehicle!
I agree they are pretty sturdy especially being a close cousin to the old ML
Agreed
W166 absolutely solid vehicle

@@gravitygabri3l good question - let us hear the response.
My daily driver is the GLE 350 4Matic from this generation. As of when I wrote this comment, no major problems. Great car.
That’s good to hear. I know the old school nature of the electrics and chassis makes it a bit more durable than the. Rand new models.

@@ahmedxkhan I said this gen from the video (W166), which is 6 cylinder. The 4 cylinder 350s are from the next gen (V167).
Rocking a 2012 ml550, gotta m278 engine, 140k miles, and so far running great, cars just sooo ahead of its time it’s unreal.

Congrats. They are a nice ride.
The best looking suv in its era and year. I have the same chassis but ML it is also the best looking suv as well
Yes they look rugged and elegant at the same time
Are you sure its n/a engine? I have exactly same GLE400 (2016 my) and its biturbo engine.
Turbo engines
Jup, ML/GLE 400 is not N/A. Some research needed before making videos.

Wow that really sounds like quite the run of issues. I found much of the vehicle to be a bit fragile
