  • Today I do a review of my own Car- A 2009 SsangYong Rexton 2, RX270 XDi.
Sorry for all the camera movement. I had just bought a flimsy new phone holder and had no idea it would bounce around so much, and also rattle !

Hello Daz , I have a 2020 REXTON ULTIMATE in England that I tow my caravan with and we absolutely love it fantastic tow car and it’s been no trouble touring Europe. Trevor 👍

Gidday Trevor. Yes, I love my SsangYongs. In fact I've never had a bad one. Heard the new Rexton's are great too. Might buy a new 2022 Musso later this year. Cheers, Daz.

I have a 2006 Rx 320 Rexton. I reckon these cars are good built. Really durable materials used .The benz inline six has quiet a fan following coz of its simplicity and reliability.

Yes. It was such a good car. The cabin silence is was brilliant. No road noise on our rough roads . No fatigue . The best car I ever owned. I have newer cars but to get the cabin silence of Rexton I will have to spend 150 k upwards.

Nice chat about Ssanyong. Ive had a Korando 2012 and felt I was taking a bit of a risk but it was such good value I took a punt. Been a great family motor for me and my 3 kids

Yes, the Korando’s are a well kept secret as well. Very capable and reliable vehicles. I also have a 1999 old style Korando that I won’t sell. Quite rare now and people often ask me about it. Tough as nails.

Hi. Has the 2007 2.7 XDi Rexton. It does not go into 4x4. My ABS light is on due to the left rear speed sensor not being picked up. Would that be the reason why the 4x4 is not engaging?
Also would you perhaps know what OBD2 device will work on this model. I have tried the Konwei and a cheap cellphone Bluetooth...(Don't want to spend too much) no luck. A auto electrical guy could assist, but I would like to use my own.
    If you can help.
And I also got it for cheap, but it is just my go to vehicle and I would love to make it work properly. I also have got a part supplier in South Korea, if anyone is interested.
Also, Seicane sells a nice android radio with cellphone, internet etc. But the steering volume/ radio buttons does not work with it. Bit of an annoyance, but the Android is good.
Am from South Africa, No agents here for SsangYong.
    Thanks!

Hi. It doesn't really mention it in the books, but these vehicles need to be put into 4WD LOW at least every month. Otherwise the 4WD Actuator will start to sieze up. What I do is operate the 4WD LOW switch while stopped, wait about 10 seconds and take the vehicle for a short drive at low speeds. Maybe 30km/h for 500 metres. Try also reversing a little bit and turning around a roundabout or doing a U-turn. It will help the system even more if the ground is a bit uneven and this causes the 4 wheels to turn at slightly different speeds to each other. Do this regularly. Also check the electrical connection to Actuator underneath and maybe clean it. I use a Foxwell NT630 Plus OBD2 Scan Tool I bought on ebay for about $170 AUD. It has specific data sets for many brands, including SsangYong and will let you reset the Airbags and ABS. Good luck.

Fix your speed sensor ,you say you want to maintain it but your driving around with flashing abs light ,I bet thats the cause of the 4wd not engaging
