| Jiangmen, China, June 13, 2019 - Michelle Bartsch-Hackley and Kelsey Robinson found their best form to help the USA finish week four with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-21) win over China at the Jiangmen Sports Center Gym on Thursday.
The result means both teams end week four with two wins and a defeat.
Bartsch-Hackley and Robinson both hit 20 points apiece, while Andrea Drews took her 2019 VNL points total to 133 with 13 points. China’s Zhu Ting led China’s scoring with 13, a total that takes her 2019 tally to 104 points.
Victory is the 2018 VNL gold medallists second in a row after they started the week with defeat to Turkey. It also means that Olympic champions China were unable to take their unbeaten run to 10 consecutive matches.

I watched kelsey robinson from not being in action most of the time, she is just at the bench cheering her team mates and used as substitution if someone needs rest but now she has became a star. She is one of USA'S best spikers and diggers. She is killing it🥰🥰🥰🥰

Tess Mangahas yeah! I also prefer Carlini as the setter of Team USA! She has improved a lot!
Simone Lee of Penn State is also in the team, but i haven't seen her play much but I saw her there on the sidelines.
@@jomzleoncio she is 6"2 other other two are 5"11 but they to are great setter's. Handcock had the best jump serve but Karch stopped it. She serves over seas all three and did very well.

Drew is not newbies, she has played for national team since 2016.However she is always the shadow of Murphy, so she never been chosen for a big competition.Now , Murphy is about to leave the team, people will recognize Drew ability more
@@thaijulian8698 Drews was not yet in the 2016 US Olympic Women's Volleyball Roster. She was included in the USNT year 2017 & I consider "newbies" to any player who hasn't experienced playing at the Olympics. Wishing for their first gold at 2020 Tokyo :)

This belting of China is no accident, which makes this rejuvenation of team USA very dangerous for Tokyo. The attributes of low, fast pace setting by Carlini (Igor Novara) really caught China off guard. Drews, Robinson and Bartsch (combined over 55% spiking eff) highlighted how a change of system can be soo effective against a less mobile and tall Chinese team. The whole Chinese team only manage THREE blocks for the entire match.
This is by far the most sensible comment ive read to date.

Serbia, Italy, the United States and China are like same level. Whoever wins depends on the state. Turkey need more games to prove itself
My English is poor,I hope I can say clear.Besides Zhu Ting, other spiker maybe not that good,but usually coach langping use two or three spiker to complete a position.According to different teams using different formations, we can use tactics to make up for ability.
The Chinese team doesn't always win, but they always give me confidence that they can win every team

China always relayed on zhu ting in open spiking. while their middles is good but too slow they can't keep up with the americans i hope they will focus more in the upcoming games.

Comparing to 2018, the team USA has definitely improved significantly: much better defense and much powerful spikes. Looking forward to watching next match with China in the 2019 World Cup.
They got rid of Murphy, Carli and Gibby hence they are better. They just need to add in Akinradewo and Wong-Orantes and they are ready for 2021.

This game was the turning point for team USA in 2019. We are now contenders for a medal in 2021. It clearly was not China's day but make no mistake....they are the best team in the world right now. Serbia and Italy are not far behind. I think USA now has all the players in the gym to compete for gold in Tokyo. Unfortunately the "USA-fast" system has more flaws and pitfalls than it does benefits. I mean...we have one of the most physical teams on the planet. Every single player is above 6'1" other than our "true" liberos. Unfortunately the Libero in this video (Mary Lake) appears to have retired from volleyball and is pursuing her masters degree so she will likely not be seen in the gym anymore. She had such potential and will be missed. Unfortunately we do have a libero problem in the gym. Picking up tips and correct defensive positioning are key areas of opportunity. Carlini, Ogbogu, Drews, Bartsch-Hackley and Robinson will be starters moving forward. With the return of a (post-pregnancy) Akinradewo and a healthy Rachael Adams, the second middle blocker starting spot gets quite competitive. All in all the new faces on team USA are a welcome sight. With even more young talent like Jordyn Poulter, Jordan Thompson, Mikaela Foecke, Kathryn Plummer, Morgan Hentz, Dana Rettke and Brionne Butler joinging the ranks in the coming season(s)....roster decisions for Karch and Co. are going to become quite a burden. in 2022 the team will look very different as more of the veterans retire post-Tokyo. The USA's future looks very bright!

USA was clearly experimenting. Poulter was starter and they clearly should have had Wong Orantes as main libero. And no Akinradewo, Hill benched, no Adams.
@Eddie C Serbia is B team without Boskovic, Maja Ognjenović,Brankica Mihajlović, Milena Rašić..even their main coach. USA beat Brazil but lost China 3-0 while Brazil lost 2-3, USA won Japan and Russia 3-2, IMO,they are not strong, however I think the main problem is they are using Poulter as setter, just like the way they used to do with lloyd

Carlini is no fluke. She's done great service for Igor Gorgonzala Novara. Her settings for Drews is so similar to how she set for Egonu. Some of the spikes by Drews was well behind the 3m lines - an Egonu trademark.

BUT WINER IS WONDERFUL......
China has three players catching strong cold few days before the match as read from the media including the main setter, blocker and libro, and the libro was the only one the coach can use as the other one had injury in previous match. If you look at the facial expression of the Chinese players, you don't see them viewing it so seriously. They chit chatted and smiled in those matches. If coach did want to win she would have put the recent strong spiker LYY in the match, but she didn't . I guess that's both the tactics and is not the true level of CN team

@@brianlam1546 volleyball is anyones game esp. In the top tier teams - serbia, china, usa, and italy. Its a matter of came to play and how they embrace that winning mentality. You can see that no one cant guarantee one team can win over the over.
