| Hong Kong, China, June 6, 2019 - China overcame a slow start to defeat Italy under the applause of the home crowd in Hong Kong.
China team head coach Lang Ping said: "It was a wonderful match. In the first two sets, we did not perform well in the first pass and blocking. However, starting from the third set, we had better reception. Italy is a strong team, we will go back and reflect in order to improve ourselves. Lastly, I would like to thank the fans from Hong Kong for their encouragement and support."
China captain Zhu Ting said: "I am very thankful to my team and the fans. We are happy with the victory and we will work hard to improve."
Italy head coach Davide Mazzanti said: "Congratulations to China. It was an amazing match. I feel upset for Italy but our team have already had good performances. At this moment, Team China is better than Team Italy. However, I am happy and satisfied with our team's match tonight. It is a good start for this season."
Italy captain Cristina Chirichella said: "We did lose a few critical points in the match today. We will perform better next time."

I had never watched volleyball match before, when i was 14 years old, one day i was watching women volleyball match with my family (china vs USA ) and. China won, it was my first time to watched it, i fell in love with volleyball since that day and i have been loving china team since 2015 till now, they are such a powerful team

true!! very humble playere indeed!! especially Zhu T. i never saw her look down at a player after landing a ball. she always just make sure that the ball lands at the floor then turn around and celebrate. no attitude or whatsoever thats why a lot of people from different nation loves these girls!

I'm 100% positive what helped China to get back was the fightning spirit. They were more than warriors in the battle ground. Zhu Ting was phenomenal as ever. However, what made the differece was the heart of the champion. 2020 Tokyo, China is favored to win the trophy. Italy is highly likely to be the biggest threat for Team China.

It was Yuan Xinyue (#1)'s plays that kept China in the game. She executed the slide attacks very well and stuff block 2 of Egonu 's spikes. None of this is shown in the highlight video.

It is so inspirational to review this match in current pandemic. So proud of Chinese team! Just don't understand why Egonu challenged last ball which was out of bound. It was sheer waste of time.
They challenged for block touch, but for some reason it passed as an out of bounds
