    The rings are for more resistance from the magnets giving more of a snap into the turn placement. The more poles, more torque. Less poles is more speed. Snaps in place faster.

    Good comparison, both motors getting the job done.
    Clearly the HH Crawl master has that little bit of finesse that is a nice thing to have when building and upgrading our trucks..
    Cheers 👍

      Honestly, I can get all the finesse needed out of the 21t titan on my trx6. It’s main issue is the weak brake. That why I upgraded to a mamba x puller pro 2700kv setup.

    We must admit that Holms Hobbies is in the top of the line in really low crawling speed. Also as the Holms hobbies say they have very high quality parts in all their motors. I am new in crawling ,5 days with my first scale truck Trx 4 and i must say the rc crawling is a nice category.

    REALLY nice fair comparison of the two, the 5 slot for 20 bucks the definite winner.
    prefer ball bearings both ends but YES, just the one at the output is plenty good. it's a cap motor (not endbell replaceable brushed), the bushing there is going to outlast the motor+brushes anyway. just watched Holmes video on his magnets, on these lower end motors they're stronger and more consistent strength center to edge. he's right they'll deliver 20-25% more power+efficiency, I know it'll reflect in the run time as well.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  5 лет назад +3

      Yes I saw that magnet video too, that was awesome to see the differences between them. So with the consistency of his motors vs the magnet inconsistency of the titan, I may have have a good titan in here vs some with really bad magnets.

  • @ragsixracing

    Don't know if anyone mentioned, the titan has advanced timing, where the cm has neutral timing. Comparing the hh 21t 3 slot trailmaster to the titan in my trx6, I found the titan had more speed and torque. i noticed the difference mostly when needing 2nd gear wheel speed. The hh couldn't clear certain things that the titan could. I did not notice a difference in low speed control. Maybe due to the difference in timing, a 10 turn crawlmaster may be a good replacement to get better torque than the titan.
    I've been contemplating the 5 slots but was confused as to where to start. I think the 10 turn will be my choice.

    I was going to change out my stock esc that came in my Traxxas Defender for a HW 1080, but noticed in your video that it really didn't provide total stopping power on the hill. What causes some crawlers to stop on the hills and others keep on slowly creeping down? Or what is it that I have to buy to make this work? Thanks for all your help, and really enjoy watching your RUclips channel.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  4 года назад +7

      jburgess5 most any brushed motor will creep down a hill. All a brake is, is a resistance or dead short between the motor leads. So when the motor tries to turn it generates power reverse of its rotation so the more it tried to roll the more it resists, when the rotor is almost stopped it produces very little reverse voltage so it will creep. Holmes hobbies has an esc that senses that and will hold it. It’s the BRXL. You can get a close to stop with gearing. The other option is the Hobbywing Axe system, it actively monitors rotor position and will absolutely hold it on any hill unless gearing is way off. It also stops smoothly from any speed. Hope that helps.

Axles are locked, underdriven rear, 2-speed, SSD brass portal covers, 1800kv Revolver, BLE Pro esc set to Dithered mode AND while lithium grease in all gears. Stock titan on the trx6 sucks... it can crawl really slow and we’ll, but the drag brake and even full brake is crap. Steep easy hills can’t slow down in 2nd gear using full brakes.
    Glad I went with the puller pro cause this brushed replacement doesn’t look like a worthwhile upgrade over a stock healthy 550 titan 21t.
    I see this as a quality replacement for when you wear down the titan 550.

    Crawlmaster, it had better dragbreak in the videos. Motor turned slower and it had better control down the rocks.. or at least what I saw watching the video.

    Except that crawlmaster no longer exists and I just got a replacement for my Titan for only 18. Maybe HH didn't like so many buying a low margin motor? The 15t 5pole is just too slow for anything outside of crawling.

    The crawlmaster has zero brush timing. The Titan has I believe 12 degrees advance timing.

    The Titan is a better value getting my vote for one simple reason. The Titan comes with the wires already attached and ready to plug-in. The Crawlmaster requires I purchase a soldering iron, solder, wire(s), electrical connectors, shrink-wraps, and possibly other appurtenances. If it ain't 'Plug-n-Play'; Homie don't play.

      you can just request the motor with the wires already attached from Holmes Hobbies.

      if you don't have a soldering iron, you're not a hobbyist at all.
      there's no excuses Homie.
