Glad to hear it! Yes, on this very beach actually there was around 5 people surfing 😄 I think surfing is more common in high season. As we were there at the start of the monsoon season, the waters were rougher than usual.
Really feeling those slo-mo shots as you drive. Gives a great look at what it's like to explore Sri Lanka! Pizza, Rooms, Curries... never seen a sign like that before. Fun footage by the beach. The drone shots were stunning.
Oh, this video is about 2 years ago and your filming/ storytelling in videos has improved quite a lot in recent videos of yours. It's great to document our life using videos, right? The beat start from 1:30 is so ear-catching, hehe. So many coconuts and bananas there. Is the price reasonable? I couldn't hear when he said. The countryside looks peaceful and relaxing. I love exploring rural areas.
Yes, it's so weird to look back at old videos and see changes. When I made this I was happy with it but I've changed my style so much since then that I'm almost like "what was I thinking?!". But you're right, improving is part of the fun of it. I bet my new videos will look odd and incoherent next year, haha. I thought the prices were very good (sadly I cannot remember the figure!). But this is my first time travelling Asia so I'm not sure how they compare to other Asian countries.
Yes, the low season was actually a great time to visit. Sure, it wasn't sunny all the time but everything was so much quieter than it would normally be :)
Yep, taxis are good for going long distances as the trains don't access some places. Tuk tuks are better for shorter journeys. Most of the taxis were offered to us when we booked out Airbnbs by our hosts. It seemed easiest as they would know where the location was. We booked 1 taxi in our own by googling '[place name] taxis' and only booked it the night before. I cannot remember the price 100% but I think it equated to around £25.
I have been hearing a lot of great things about Sri Lanka so far from what I've seen it looks like a beautiful country.. The beach looked amazing and it looked like you had it all to yourself.. Amazing drone shots as well! Great vlog! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Sri Lanka is a gorgeous country. There are so many beautiful beaches. Yes, there were hardly any people on the beach which made the experience even better :)
This is an awesome video! Definitely makes me want to go to check out some beaches in Sri Lanka! p.s. lovely editing and color grading. Those slowmo shots are on point!
Don't know any other beaches in Sri Lanka, but this one was indeed very beautiful! Looked so nice with hardly anyone there. The end was the best part of the video!
Sri Lanka is on our bucket list of destinations for next year! And you guys have got us thinking maybe we should go in off season. Those drone shots of the beach were just on point 👌 and with that background music, wow just wow! EPIC!
Yes, we went just outside of peak season in late May. It wasn't super sunny but was still hot. The biggest perks were just how quiet it was, how easy it was to book accommodation as everywhere was empty and how cheap the flights were :) Only drawback of the time of year was the lack of sun really and that the water was a little too rough to swim in!
I love the idea of going in the shoulder season - having it a little quieter seems perfect. Might be worth missing out on some of the better weather to have the place to yourself!
Yes, the prices are very reasonable. AirBnBs ranged from £12-£30 per night for 2 people, often with breakfast included. That coconut was 34p. Not too bad 👌
First off, nice shades haha. Sri Lanka looks like a cool place to visit for sure, and YUM plantains! I've been missing them while living in China haha. Those bugs though..... they gave me chills from here. However, the shots of the beach really made up for that. Really beautiful
Looks like an amazing beach! We always enjoying hanging out with the local beach dogs!!! Isn't it amazing how much water there is inside a coconut!? Thanks for sharing!
Yes, it was such an awesome trip! Those coconuts are heavenly. I'm home now and bought a coconut from the local supermarket yesterday... safe to say it was not the same 😔
We love travelling off season! So much better! Do like a good fruit stall always so cheap. Beach looks lovely especially with the doggies! Great drone shots!
You've got a nice sense of editing and a great eye for capturing good images. Really enjoyed the vlog. Sri Lanka looks beautiful, too. Will have to add this to my travel list - if I ever get to travel :p
The beach was beautiful! So nice you had it all to yourself, I am guessing that would not happen during busy season! Nice that you found some cute dogs too.
I actually don't use any one thing to find music really. I either use a song that I liked from someone else's video or search through different genres on RUclips. My favourite YT mustc channels are TrapNation and CloudKid. They're not royalty free songs so I can't monetise these videos.
Haha how cute is that petrol station lol. Also I love travelling off peak - so much more chilled and relaxed. That beach house looks ace and yes to fresh coconuts and that beach! I want to be there
Coconuts are a gift from god. I could drink coconut water all day long. Wow, no one at that beach and it looks stunning ! Nice edit! What a hidden gem!
How did you like the coconut there? The beach looks pretty amazing, unspoiled & clean. The colours of water are well-captured. For how long were you there in Sri Lanka? You've captured the country really well. Great job at colour grading as well! :D
The coconut was insane 👌 that's saying something as I don't normally like coconut! The beach was incredibly clean and I loved that the beach-front was mostly natural. Sometimes beaches are just filled with hotels which sucks. I was in Sri Lanka for 10 days and I can tell you it was not enough time! I felt like we zoomed through places - you'll notice there's travelling in every video. I will be back again, I'm sure. When I do come back, I will travel slower 😅
Beaches, jungles, pizza and fresh coconuts!Aaah you gotta love Sri Lanka! I love those slow-motion shots that you add in your videos. It really blends well with your story telling, aah I wish I had a GH5 now just to get all those extra slow motion shots!!😅 Great vlog as always Ella, keep up the amazing work!
It was incredible! The beach was so quiet and what I really loved was that it was surrounded by nature. Some beaches are lined with buildings and hotels but this only had the occasional house that was hidden behind loads of palms.
Yes, I didn't notice at the time but looking back it's like my own ND filters 😄 I didn't appreciate it at the time and thought it was way too dark but I appreciate it now!
I'm always amazed by the quality of your vlog, editing and music. You always make such a great job ! The beaches look so great too, even better with the cute dogs =) Can you by the way tell me how you do the slow motion like for example @ 1:27 ? Are you filming with 100fps and divide the speed by 4 afterwards ? Or is it even slower ? You are also so steady, more than a gimbal ;-) are you making something special for that too? Thanks already for your answer, that will help me a lot !
Cute dogs make everything better 😉 My camera has several options including to film at 180 fps. When I play the footage back anywhere including in the editing software, it's already slowed down to 180 fps so no editing necessary to get it slow. I have a GH5 👌 I'm flattered you think my footage is smooth! I have no gimbal but my camera has a really rad stabilisation system - it's one of the things the GH5 is known for. Plus when you film at such a high frame rate, everything looks smoother anyway 😝
Yep that's true that with high frame rate, it is quite stabilized. I do have a camera which can film until 1000fps but then the quality is quite bad if I don't have the perfect light. I will make some try at 250fps and see what I can do with that. Thanks again for your answer and your inspiration, I really love your editings =)
Thanks so much! I was happy with that segment too. I guess it's because I actually remembered to film lots of different angles. Thanks for the the follow! I'm following you too now 🤗
Thank you! I think these are some of my best arial shots yet as I finally thought "screw it, let's just fly far and try and get good shots" but I think I need to work on panning and flying at the same time. There's always places where I wish I'd taken my drone too. Like I didn't fly it at the next beach and I regret that! Can't wait to see your Sri Lanka content :)

@@EllaMcKendrick :-) Ok, it seems you had fun! i was in sri lanka, we chose also small hotels, but they were directly at the beach at hiriketyia beach but not to expansive. It is so beautiful! I miss it....
I love Sri Lanka! My guide told me that I can use the coconut juice as a facial wash. So I did and it was surprisingly refreshing. Lovely beach!
Sounds interesting! I will have to try that sometime :)
Oh wow, that really is an incredible beach. You guys are starting to sell Sri Lanka to us! Love the way you mixed in the drone shots.
Thank you! Sri Lanka is definitely worth visiting 😁
Sri Lanka looks really awesome. The fresh coconut looks yummy! The beach looks amazing too!
You're so right about all those things!
I'm enjoying the Sri Lanka series. Have you noticed much surfing there?
Glad to hear it! Yes, on this very beach actually there was around 5 people surfing 😄 I think surfing is more common in high season. As we were there at the start of the monsoon season, the waters were rougher than usual.
Waligama and Arugambe are the best beaches for surfing in SL
Thanks!
@@LivingOverseasTV you are almost welcome :)

Yes, the low season was actually a great time to visit. Sure, it wasn't sunny all the time but everything was so much quieter than it would normally be :)
Nice vlog, that beach looks very inviting! Really wanna dip in
I totally wished I'd dipped in!
That little beach cafe is the absolute cutest spot. This looks like paradise!
Uhhh it felt like paradise too! I wanna go back!
Seems like you guys get a lot of taxis in Sri Lanka. Do you book those ahead of time and how? How much did it cost for the 1.5 hour drive?
Yep, taxis are good for going long distances as the trains don't access some places. Tuk tuks are better for shorter journeys. Most of the taxis were offered to us when we booked out Airbnbs by our hosts. It seemed easiest as they would know where the location was. That beach does look beautiful. Like the roadside coconut drink, a bit better than stopping at a 'Welcome Break' on the M4.
Just a tad better ;)
Nice video!!Liked the drone shots!!
Thank you very much!
What a great scenery!....loves the beach and coconut...Great video.
It so tropical there and those blue skys. The way they get the fruit juice was really cool.
Yep, coconuts are great :)
Geez there's a few bananas on the trailer at 2:40
Very nice beach and great drone shots! It looked so peaceful.
Tell me about it! I also love how the driver just smiled at me when I got my camera out :)

another awesome vlog of srilanka... loved how the vendoe emptied coconut in glass....keep up the good work mate...
Thank you! I know. It was so cute of them to lend us glasses for our coconut drink 😄
Wow, that beach looks beautiful! And so quiet, which makes it even better!
That's why I loved it so much. You just can't beat a quiet beach!
Wow that beach does look awesome. I'll be heading there in March with my kids. Great drone shots too. What an awesome scene
Your family will love it! It's a dream destination :) thanks for your comment!
You guys definitely traveled at the right time.. the beach is beautiful for sure. Love those drone shots it captured it all really well
Thanks a bunch!
Beautiful beach! Interesting pizza. Pepperoni and pumpkin? I’ll have to try if. Cool to see some parts didn’t have tons of rocks.
It was rather interesting. Not gonna lie, I may have given all the pumpkin to Lewis but the residue of it was still there and was okay.
One of my favourite thing travelling across South East Asia was the fruit stands on the street.. For dirt cheap too.. Nice beach!
So cheap! The coconut was 70 rupees which equates to 30p!
wow Sri Lanka looks great! good job! keep it on!
Thanks so much for watching! 🤗
I think the benefit of travelling off season is you get have a very different experience! And the beach looks amazing and clean.
Too true! I tend to always travel just out of season :)

Looks like an amazing beach! We always enjoying hanging out with the local beach dogs!!! Isn't it amazing how much water there is inside a coconut!? Thanks for sharing!
Local beach dogs are the best 😎 There's actually a lot of water inside a coconut. Perhaps around 2 full glasses I'd say.
I like your musicality with your slo-mo clips. That beach is definitely pretty!
Very nice video, thanks for sharing, makes me want to go on holiday. What drone are you using?
Thank you! For this video I used the DJI Mavic Air :)

Yep, I have a feeling it would be quite packed in the busy season. Most restaurants were closed as well.
you always choose the best music - is that a music site you use like Epidemic or Artlist or somewhere else?

Yes! Off-peak is the best of both worlds. Weather wasn't bad and not too many people.
Scenic was an understatement its was beautiful great video good shots and interesting thanks

Great car with bananas. What was on the wall in your accommodation - ants? Great drone shots and impressive video about Sri Lanka.
It was lots of ants moving a dead cricket up the wall. Just what everyone wants in their bedroom 😝
Coconuts are a gift from god. I could drink coconut water all day long. Wow, no one at that beach and it looks stunning ! Nice edit! What a hidden gem!
Definitely hidden! No way would I have found this if I wasn't staying near it. I'm glad it's so secluded though. It keeps it beautiful!

Wow amazing beach... So enjoyable destination❤️🏖️from India
Thank you for watching! Yes, it was a stunning beach!
Those are some cool looking sunglasses. So far I am not a fan of coconut water. Maybe I need to try one in Sri Lanka.
I had coconut water in Seychelles and wasn't exactly a fan but loved it in Sri Lanka. Maybe it's one of those things you get used to.
The beach looks amazing. It looks so untouched, unspoiled and very peaceful. And best of all, there's pizzas!
Pizza is life, right? 😎
Definitely!
I freaking love those shades 😍 Kinda similar to Rory krammer haha. The beach B-Roll looks amazing 😍🤤
Haha, I like big sunglasses 😎
Thanks for visiting 🇱🇰
