Every country and every human has issues, but the secret is all becomes ok after a short time.. also positive people keep becoming more and more positive and successful. (Something main stream education and news does not like us to know) Life is great. Visit Sri Lanka or any country you like in the world. All is well. As a solo, seasoned traveler. I found Sri Lanka to be unsafe. I experienced racism, inflated prices, overcharging, pick pocketing three times, attempted bag snatching once, harrassment, one man touched me up (first time anywhere), intimidation from bus conductors. One night someone followed me home and tried to break into my room. If you ask a Sri Lankan they will deny any problems exist because the culture can be disingenuous. Put simply as a Whiteman or Sunai as they call us, I was a target for the bad people and there are many bad people in Sri Lanka who want to take advantage of you. Never again. It's worse than India. I've felt safer in Colombia.
Don't retire there it is not OK to be kidnapped by TukTuk men and violently forced to buy semiprecious jewels at life threatening value .. this place is not safe for retires .. forget about it

Your video makes me want to go! I do encourage westerners visiting developing countries to be humble as well. Yes, it can help people that you're spending your money there, but in many ways it's the least you can do, so just please be humble about it and don't get a saviour complex lol. I'm only saying this because I've seen the way many middle and upper class westerners talk about travel. Also, tourism economies can have many benefits but can also have many harmful effect for locals -- -just look at Hawaii. So be kind, do your research and know that people aren't there just to serve you because you have more money than them.

The worst thing about sri lanka is when a foreigner come they just thriple the price if a food is -rs.750 for foreigner is -rs.3000/2500
