6 Amazing TOE Riffs

- In this video I demonstrate 6 amazing riffs by the Japanese Math Rock band Toe I've chosen riffs from some of my favourite and some of their most popular songs. Moreover, I also used this as a little ear training workout and as an opportunity to try and analyze their music in a more significant way for myself. I'm sure that their arrangements of these ideas are different, but my goal was to aim to get the pitches right. That's one of the cool things about guitar - you can play the same stuff in a lot of different ways. Also, something I aimed to do was transcribe as much as possible for standard tuning! Pretty nice from a pick up and play perspective.

hahah yea! i'm surprised that their aren't that many toe covers kicking around. will definitely have to talk about some of these
@@TrevorWongMusic My prediction is toe's song are so hard to copy, so not many people be able to learn to cover them (those who can became a band and also make math-rock lol).
Small tip: playing Goodbye would be much easier with a capo on the 2nd fret. The band plays it this way too in the live video too
And in the first riff they add a couple note repetitions here and there later on. Can't believe I've listened to Toe enough to hear to that immediately, yet here we are
Thanks for sharing, will come in handy for sure! But I kinda spoiled myself with this video, should have transcribed all of it myself and now when I already saw how to play it that will be easier. Train your ears lads and you'll be able to transcribe as good as Trevor does. Eventually. Hopefully.
Toe did an incredible song for the show Sonny Boy (which is how I found out about them), 100% recommend watching

Kodoku No Hatsumei was my intro to the band and the first listen was still fairly recent, so it was nice to hear in an iconic riffs video! The harmonies and drumming are awesome

it would be cool to see but in the mean time Covet’s Acoustic album, TTNG’s Animals Acoustic, and various Delta Sleep songs are good as far as listening to produced songs.

Hey Trevor, I was wondering if you would be able to show how you are able to transcribe these riffs to play them yourself. I just finished Sonny boy and noticed that the final track in the anime was done by toe and I’ve been wanting to play so desperately but can’t find much on how to do it
