I used my old apple mouse which has been working fine. I sold my previous apple keyboard when I upgraded and picked up a new apple keyboard with a number pad. But there were constant Bluetooth issues with the keyboard so I use it with a lightning cable now.
I got the m1 mac mini and my transition hasn't been as smooth. Yes it is fast but I have had issues with Studio One V5. It loads my programs fast and web browsing is great. However I have had clicks and pops with small sessions (20 tracks or less ) running with medium amount of plugins and when I do basic video rendering in studio one it is slower than my Dell i7 4790 setup. As a matter of fact my Dell is faster than the m1 rendering my mix downs which is very confusing to me. I decided to go apple for the first time and so far it has been challenging. I believe Apple is on the right track but my experience with the Apple silicon has been rocky thus far. Still trying to figure out why.
That's weird, I've been using Studio One V5 for almost 2 years now on the 2020 8 GB M1 Macbook Air, no video editing only music production, and it's working like a charm, mixdown rendering is super fast and it can handle 20/30-track projects with lots of plugins pretty well! (averages at 30/40% RAM usage at most, only seen it go up to 70% and above maybe 8 times) Although I did experience issues with 3rd party plugins, I think it's mostly due to the Rosetta thing/the plugins not being M1 native yet, so we're bound to see improvements soon! I remember Oct 2020, firing up Studio One on the macbook for the first time and 3/4 of my plugins taking their sweet time loading up or just crashing lol, but then over the months 90% of them got their M1 update and it's been a sweet ride. I switched over from a then 4-year old 16 GB Gaming Lenovo PC, and I'd say comparatively the 8 GB Macbook Air wins by a good margin. Only problems I still experience from time to time are USB/MIDI devices bugs (unplugging/plugging back in makes it work again) AND very frequently the piano roll just decides to glitch out of this galaxy (copy/pasting it, deleting the original and using the pasted one solves it). Try contacting PreSonus/Apple customer service, there might be some other issue!

@@perrykeshahwalker5321 that is a bummer for sure. I think the key thing with apple products is to dive deep into their ecosystem. I believe Apple is on the right track but my experience with the Apple silicon has been rocky thus far. Still trying to figure out why.
is the Studio One V5 optimized for M1? if not, will it be in the future? It really is that simple...sounds like it's not
That's weird, I've been using Studio One V5 for almost 2 years now on the 2020 8 GB M1 Macbook Air, no video editing only music production, and it's working like a charm, mixdown rendering is super fast and it can handle 20/30-track projects with lots of plugins pretty well! (averages at 30/40% RAM usage at most, only seen it go up to 70% and above maybe 8 times)
Although I did experience issues with 3rd party plugins, I think it's mostly due to the Rosetta thing/the plugins not being M1 native yet, so we're bound to see improvements soon!
Did you ever get this issue resolved?
@@DanTremblayMusic yes to some point however I plan to go back to a Windows machine this September because I'm just used to Windows and I've never really had an issue with it I just wanted to try Mac and I did and it was great but I have to go back to Windows
@@perrykeshahwalker5321 glad you found a solution! Yeah, for sure there are always issues. Like for one, I always hold my breath every time there is an OS update that all my plugins are going to work. Lol. Anyway, happy mixing! Cheers!
I am thinking to go for a mini now.Should i go for the mini 16/500 or wait for the me version of same for music production.thanks
I think I’d probably wait at this point in time and see what’s going to be announced in the Fall. I still love my mini.
@@DanTremblayMusic I think it will go well for semi-professional music production, right?
@@rajb3388 absolutely. But you may want to hold off to see what apple announces in the next two months just in case.
@@DanTremblayMusic thanks man. Also, I think we should expect a price difference between the two chips rit
Has Bluetooth issue fixed now..?
Thank you for this video..❤️
Haven’t re-tested it to be honest. The mouse is fine, it’s the keyboard that I had all kinds of lagging issues with. I just have it connected with a lightning cable.
@@DanTremblayMusic Okay.. Thanks a lot Man..🙏
bro all vsts working ?? people are moving back to intel
I’m running everything in Rosetta in logic, no issues whatsoever.
bro tell the truth ,,,,
@@bosssales9448 bro, all is working in Rosetta mode in logic. If you want more power, look at the mac studio or new mbp. Going back to intel would be redundant.
@@perrykeshahwalker5321 that is a bummer for sure. I think the key thing with apple products is to dive deep into their ecosystem. Running native software is pretty much guaranteed to run better than non apple software. Pops and clicks are usually an indication of needing a higher buffer size, not sure if you tried that already. But you shouldn’t be hearing those with a count of only 20 tracks. Hope that helps!
I need a mac for my music production in Logic, 🥲
This is the one to get, no need to buy more expensive models.
Would you recommend the 8GB ? Best Buy only has that one
@@NitroGamingPro17 def go 16 gb. 8 is going to be pretty limiting.
