Yes the aluminum can be painted any colour you like. Just be sure to get paint that is intended for metal surfaces and clean the metal with Acetone before applying.
Nice idea. Thanks for the DIY and love Echo. Chipmunks are our garage door problem and I will do this too. Chipmunks are amazingly clever at getting in to the house.
So I used flashing 6 inch cut which has been working but I noticed the other day they have chewed a hole right above the 6 inches they found the weakness! Nuts huh??
I left about a 1/8" gap to avoid it catching and that has worked fine for me, but if your garage door has a lot of play in it then a slight outward bend is a great idea
Been trying to figure out how the mice are getting in for years. Your solution looks better than my caulk-in-the corners attempt. I sure hope this does it for me.... Can they not get under the rubber in the middle? Is it only the corners? I guess I will find out...
The most common area for rodents to nibble are the corners (probably because they can hide there). It’s been 2 years since I had a single mouse in my garage after doing this, so I think you’ll find it works.
I'll have to try this out. I've been having the same issue where the mice chew their way in through the wood and rubber seal. Damn vermin freeloaders know winter's coming and and want in.
Well a simple fix, but have to say, the shiny metal does not blend into the color of the garage door....but I guess if the fix is for critters, the aesthetics is not a big deal....
when they enter garage then very asy them to enter whole house I ffound big nest in my bed room cclosed draver with babie maises .Mose chew corner of the garage doors .
I’m going to give you a chance to not look like a jack ass. Am I responding to a question you asked? No! Jackass it’s been 4 weeks and she nor anyone else liked or responded to your post. In fact someone else also said it’s aluminum in other posts besides the guy stating this in the video. Obviously the lady needed a little more information than your dumb ass could comprehend.
@@Charles-lq7kj wow dude, didn’t think you would have such a shit attitude. but iron would be stupid to use and if you don’t get why i have nothing further to add.
We have two and they are great mousers INSIDE... But we don't let them in the garage because otherwise they might get outside the house. So looking for a solution like this.

Very appealing and looks great.
THANK YOU for having this realistic DIY video. Totally used it! Mahalo
Good idea! Would be nice to prime & paint to match the house and garage door color.
Thanks for the tip - we have same problem - didn't think of a simple fix like this. I'll give it a try.
would the mice chew around the bracket that you put in? just curious. Thank you for making this video
Aluminum. You want to use aluminum because it won’t rust and it’s much easier to drill or put screws through.
Great idea, but I would also suggest that they be bent away from Garage door, so that it wont catch
No the mice will not chew around the bracket. I installed it in November and it is now almost August and I have had ZERO mice in my garage or house.
Thank you. I got all the fixings today a d the angle . Super excited to put it on tomorrow.
Glad it helped
Great video going to try this for our garage thank you for posting!
Great suggestions Ray! Thank you
great looking dog. Thanks for the tip. I have the same problem. Had toads sneaking in through that chewed area this week. 😄
Ok so you took care of the corner but What about the rubber sealing at the bottom of the garage door?
Better to get a garage door sweep from xcluder. But if that's too expensive this would work i think to some degree
Hi! Great video. I’m assuming you did not attach the flashing to the garage door. Attachment to the side only? Please let me know. Thanks!
Red Squirrels eat straight through any plastic or rubber trims as well.
Thanks so much! I'm definitely going to do this. 👍🏾
I installed these in November and have not had a single mouse (it's now June).
@@fixinwithford3484 Aweseome! I'm at Lowes now. Thanks so much! 😊
Masonary heater?
Very nice idea thanks much for sharing one should do this i definitely will though Brilliant idea
Awesome idea. Thank you.
Perfect video. Thanks, buddy!

Tried this today with aluminum flashing. Hopefully it keeps them out!
Can you paint it white?
Thanks buddy! great idea.
We had that problem. Thank you.
Glad it helped :)
Thank you for posting this helpful video!!:)
You’re welcome

How wide is the aluminum angle?
did it work?
I will be doing this this spring.
Will 1/16th thickness work?
What are the dimensions? 1.5", 2", or some other width? Has anyone tried this with 1/16" thick aluminum angle iron?
By the way, 18 months with zero mice now.
That should also stop spiders, bugs, etc.
Love this idea

what is the metal called that you are using?
1/8th aluminum
It’s called Angle 📐 Iron
@@Charles-lq7kj i din’t realize it came already angled 😂

Ty for this!!
I use poison often along with traps so I dont think a dog or cat would be advised to kill mice at my property while patrolling it.
Thanks bud...
I read it as moose and I was confused lol
Believe me, I’m from moose country. There is NOTHING that will moose-proof your garage … 😀

Thanks I will try this I have an infestation of does things....
Looks great from an airplane!
incredibly handsome
It’s easier to get 2 CATS

Now I can't open my garage.
Did you bolt the aluminum to the door itself by accident?
Not the point. Did it keep the mice out or not?
Constructive criticism, that is so ugly though
Constructive criticism:
Why din’t you construct the mice a home? 😤
But can you open the garage?
