Always a pleasure to watch Mike! So refreshing to see trains running at realistic speeds , and on beautifully laid track. Thanks for the ride! Cheers, Gregg.
What an awesome layout!!! I grew up along the Rock Island tracks in Morris Illinois in the 50s 60s and 70s during the heyday of the Rock! Got many rides in those same engines! You brought back some really great memories 👍👍👏 ! Thank you so much for the great video and God bless you and hope you have a wonderful Christmas 👏🙏
Very cool Mike. I just love the cut you modelled starting at 13:50, especially the wagon bridge spanning it. It looks so natural. Anyone familiar with Iowa and farm country would recognize the lay of the land immediately. So well done! Thanks for another great video!
Thank you for commenting about the cut and wooden wagon bridge. It’s nice to know that there are those who recognize and appreciate specific scenes that are modeled. I always value your comments. Merry Christmas! Mike
I appreciate your comments and glad you like the passenger train. Thanks for noticing some of the little details like the red markers on the rear passenger car. Mike
Nice video! I am also modeling the Rock Island running through from Danville, AR to Booneville, AR in the late 50's to mid 60's. You scenic talent is VERY nice, I'm still learning.
Always enjoy watching trains run on your railroad Mike. Beautiful scenery, trains going somewhere and your description of what it taking place is great. Have a good and Safe Christmas.
Another great video! You always give a good story about each trip, and the trains look prototypical and run so smoothly. Have a great holiday and enjoy your layout!
Must say that I really enjoy your videos of your Rock Island railroad. Your narration makes it really interesting and enjoyable. It is a real pleasure to watch. “Thank You “.
Mike, I enjoyed following train #67 around your layout and observing the meets with other trains. It is so cool to see the trains knocking down the signals as they pass. I hope the storms in your area did not affect you. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. -Tom
Hi Tom - We lucked out with the recent storms and most of the damage was northeast of us a few miles. Thanks so much for watching and for your comments. Merry Christmas! Mike
Another fantastic video Mike! Nothing gets me more motivated to run my layout than one of your videos. By the way, CVision just posted a video of the Rock Island in the 1960s. It’s like watching your layout in real life.
Another winner, I always see something new while watching your videos. the level of detail is so very well done that the scenes seamlessly flow together as they should. What percentage of the motive power and rolling stock would you say your have custom painted and decaled? Keep up the great work and if you don't post again before Christmas, I would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas holiday.
Thanks for watching, David. I'd guess that I've custom painted about 20% of my motive power and probably less than 5% of my rolling stock. I appreciate your comments and Merry Christmas! Mike
Amazing session! I wish we could see the actual meet with the passenger train though… Is the buckeye siding essentially is inside a helix or a hidden track?
The Rock Island used standard cabooses on locals. Transfer cabooses and standard cabooses were used on transfer runs in major terminals. Thanks much for watching the video and for your comments. Mike
I do occasionally have formal operating sessions with about 10 people who operate trains. Up to this point, there is only one of my videos with others operating trains (February 2018 Operating Session) and the rest are just me operating. Thank you very much for watching the video and I appreciate your comments. Mike
Always a pleasure to watch Mike! So refreshing to see trains running at realistic speeds , and on beautifully laid track.
Thanks for the ride!

this man knows what he wants. careful on the Iowa terminal track. its tricky
Thanks for watching and, you are correct, the Iowa Terminal track is a bit tricky ☺. Mike
Awesome
Thank you very much! Mike
Ole buckeye sidetrack.

Thank you! Mike
😊
Amazing session! I wish we could see the actual meet with the passenger train though… Is the buckeye siding essentially is inside a helix or a hidden track?
Yes, the Buckeye Siding is in the helix; therefore, it's mostly hidden. Thanks so much for watching and for your comments. Mike
Nice op session Mike!! Loved seeing
those F units!! Did the Rock ever use
a transfer Caboose on locals, or just
regular road Cabooses??
The Rock Island used standard cabooses on locals. Transfer cabooses and standard cabooses were used on transfer runs in major terminals. Thanks much for watching the video and for your comments. Mike
Nice video. Do you have a have other people operating trains during your op session.
I do occasionally have formal operating sessions with about 10 people who operate trains. At Clear Lake Jct., what does the "30" stand for on the speed diagram?
Hi Todd - the "30" indicates 30 MPH for the reduced speed over the crossing diamond at Clear Lake Jct. Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas! Mike
That DW&P car looks out of place. CN family plug doors had yellow doors in the 1960s.
Good catch and thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'll see what I can do to add a yellow door to the car. Thanks for watching the video. Mike
Superb modeling sir. I thoroughly enjoyed your video.
Thank you very much! Mike
