A special edition ro irritate!! 😂 I bet your right!! 🤣 Interesting machine! Have a good trip & be safe! 💕 Happy 4th of July!!! Haha!! You go, Brenda!!!! 🤣 Your garden is lovely!! Beautiful ariel shots! Bree still stands out! Loved the video!! 💕
It has been almost forty years since I ran that old one horse mower, but it was pretty similar as I recall. The one I ran was a John Deere, and we had it rigged for two ponies instead of a single horse. It was an open gear mower like that, and I think it dated to the 1880's. I do remember that you needed both the foot pedal and the hand lever to raise the blade. I think it had a foot pedal to put it in gear. I didn't get to run it enough to be really expert at it, but I did clip several pastures with it. I'm really sad that we won't get to see you in Lancaster. I would have liked to have seen you, and I would have liked to have seen my home town again.
Bridget from Ohio I Love watching your videos 😊 I have a single horse hay cutter, I'll have to take a look at it . Last time we used it was 48 years ago. we then parked it on a hill & planted flowers around it. my dad had a buddy who had 25 ponies and he came out and we hooked it to the bumper of the pickup truck and he mowed our little one acre patch. Mr Burke was his name he rode the mower and my dad drove the truck they wanted to see for sure if it worked. and it worked great at the time we had just put a whole new blade bar in it I used to keep it oiled when I was still living at home. it still sets on the hill and is my reminder of when I got my first horse. My dad and Mr Burke have been gone for over 40 years my mother is still alive and just turned 93. I love hearing her stories of when she was a kid. to help get money for the family she would work on the neighbor's farm with the two draft horses. and when it was time to eat she would unhitch the machinery and ride the horses back in and eat and then continue the job she was doing. she never rode a horse with a saddle until I got a nice little quarter mare and her and I and a few friends went to a big horse Park and road trails in the woods for about 5 hours. it was the only time I ever got my mom on a horse. ❤
We used Nellie, a dark bay mare to pull the lawn mower. You walk behind the mower on foot and hold the reins In your hands. In Brookline, Massachusetts, US..... It is expensive......
Brenda is a wonder .She cleaned out the pig pen (Rosey) not long ago . Milks Pansy the Jersey dairy cow . Runs in a foot race , she and Cindy paint the barn .Plus finds time to video and cook good meals.😊😊😊
@@PeterDowd-r9bIt was Baron mowing in the first half of video. However, at the end when Brenda was push mowing, she said it was Jim and Bill at the end as they were heading back to the barn!
Happy Independence Day Jim and Brenda and family. Enjoy the vacation to Lancaster County. Gonna be a hot, hot weekend as an FYI. Hope you enjoy yourselves and everyone does well.
I do some logging with my horse in Germany and I am a big fan of your channel! I was always worried that the mower is too heavy for one horse. But I can see that this is not a problem. If you have the opportunity, try a Lanz LVK 35 mower. It offers a lot more functions and was designed for working with one horse. But I don't know if they are available in the USA. Have fun at the Horse progress days.
Happy 4th of July Safe journey to Lancaster PA and have a great time. Love seeing Baron on the 1 horse mower as doing good. What a beautiful picture of the drown over the farm. Glad Lady is letting Bill be with her and June. I'm guessing the girls will come by to feed Skippy and the cats. Stay safe and enjoy your trip 🙏❤️❤️
Happy Fourth and safe journey. Sounds like a fun event. I've been following and supporting the Lancaster legal case of an Amish farmer, which will set precedent for all independent farmers and food freedom. I'm hoping you find advocates for the cause there, as well as good times and new friends!
PG here, Happy 4th of July! Thank you for all your teaching and training. For sharing the Way God created the earth. Man and his Horse! Baron is such a muscular strong specimen of God's Creation! (A Horse). This video really shows off his strength and greatness as a horse. I am awe struck at Baron's majesty. Job 39:19-24 New King James Version (NKJV) “Have you given the horse strength? Have you clothed his neck with thunder? Can you frighten him like a locust? His majestic snorting strikes terror.
Thank you for giving us the link to the Horse Progress Days in Lancaster, PA. I would love to attended. Maybe next year. I hope Brenda puts the events on RUclips.
Nice Video! Love the ending! Have a great time and be safe! AND be sure to have the girls check in here so we know they're doing a good job!! I'm sure they will!
Enjoyed this video. You made me laugh. Special edition to annoy you…😂 You and your family are awesome, really like your channel and your daughters’ channel.
Nice work Jim setting up the one horse open sickle mower. Ah ha, I can appreciate your frustration but your doing what you can, I think your right your no.9 is your muscle memory and this one a different animal and not designed as well maybe. Thanks for showing us and explaining,, it is really sharp! I am falling behind on videos again, I need to check in with Abby's progress.. Boy you guys kicked some booty greeting ready for your trip, nice job and look forward to the next! Thank you and please continue to be safe and I the same. Blessings to All. Appreciate All you do. Praise God.
Hey Jim and Brenda, Happy independence Day July 04 2024. Have a great and safe trip to Lancaster PA. Baron did a great job on the single horse mower. That was smart of you to strap the hand and foot lever together to raise and lower the mower. cutters.
I can't wait for your trip video..I lov that drone footage.I tell ya what ,that Bree is some pretty horse. lov ya'll blessings and safety on your trip..enjoy each other. lov from south alabama.
My dad converted a McCormick horse drawn mower so it could be pulled by a Farmall H. He said the H traveled the speed as a team of horse We used it for years
Jim, for all that Brenda does for you and the farm, you should buy her a lawn mower that is self propelled! She seemed to be exerting a lot of effort pushing that mower around! Just ask yourself, "would I push that mower?"
@@boscodog4358 How about "preserve and protect" a good woman! Jim rides around in a skid steer picking up sticks with the hydraulics! He should get out of the cab an do some manual labor to keep himself healthy!
If you think about how Baron stepped into the gap, it is testimony to training and perhaps the breed of horse as to how well he has done. Those horse flies look very large, maybe you need an airforce to help sort them out !
Covetting that little mowing machine.. admittedly I'm not having to operate it . But just look at it go, just sings along and topples the weeds like dominoes
I have no personal experience with your Mc Cormack Deering #4 one horse mower . So I asked google .Here goes .yes it was designed to automatically kick out of gear if you use the lift peddle (right ) side .You look to be missing a second wood handle lift to lift cutter bar ( rotted off) .Have that rod put back on to the drive clutch ( right side ). With new wooden lift handle ,bar stays engaged but can be lifted to get over low rocks and stumps .see clear as mud.😊😊😊
Always so much work to do before going on a trip. Though having a farm with horses, cattle, chickens, and pigs, there's so much more you have to do. William will see to it that Pansy is milked and cared for. While Abby and Trudy will see that the horses, pig, and chicks are tended to! I just wonder if Lady has finally decided it's ok for Bill to stay with her and little June!? Have a safe and fun week at Horse Progress Days, Jim and Brenda! Remember to stay hydrated as you will be outside in the heat much of the days.🥰🙏 Happy 4th of July to everyone!🇺🇸
I love Lancaster we flew to Toronto Ontario Camada Rented a car and drove through Niagara Falls Ca to Niiagara Falls USA , down through Gasport and continued on to Strasbourg Pa , to Lancaster on to NY,, but left NY city very quick to come back to PA for two weeks, we did this trip twice and about to do it again, enjoy, cannot wait to see the videos of this trip for you guys,,, love your videos gets me motivated, Brenda you are an energizer, and JIm you are so infomative,,, love all the animals they are blessed . I am sure they will be well taken care of ,,, long winded,, here God Bless and stay safe
Jim Regarding your mower ,I believe your missing the spring and connection for the lift handle. Disregard my previous comments .Did you get the cell phone pictures of my neighbours old lawn art horse mower . Hope this helps .😊😊😊
Love your paid for machinery Jim . Our horse mower was rusting in the fe nce line . Could Brian your mill wright fabricate your mower to operate with foot peddles .Left ( Haw) to engage sickle and right foot ( Gee) to lift and lower sickle bar .Love to see a farmer working for himself and not the machine compa ies . Love your tie stalls and watering system for your horse .😊😊😊
Upon second thought .Do not take old mower to Brian . May need a new wood handle to raise cutter bar .So right side from the back foot peddle then steel leaver to engage clutch with that rod that was removed . Then a new wood handle to raise cutter bar .New wheel bar handle from TSC might work .😊😊😊
