Like you said, she needs to rest/relax in her new environment , eat well , and meet her herd members . She'll have playmates & lots of room to be frisky. And JR will have 2 eating machines (until Souix foals & makes it 3!) Thank you Emori for the update!

@@nogames8982 Horses need shoes in some places. In the Rocky Mountains, for instance, if you are riding a lot, they need shoes to protect their feet from too much wear, which can make them foot sore.
Imaging tearing your fingernail below the nail bed. That's similar to a horse having their feet worn down too much. Now when I tear my fingernail below my nail bed, I can bandage it up and quit using it for a while. A horse cannot do that. They are a prey animal so even sleep standing up in the wild. But in the winter time I would take mine off, and just trim them every 6-8 weeks. Then in the spring, if I was going to be riding one or more of them a lot, I would put shoes on those horses and just trim the others.

Their horses that are ridden and worked do need shoes because their roads are very rocky. JR mentioned that when Oliver was getting his first shoes. I dont think the brood mares or Bob have them because they're on the grassy areas of their homestead for the most part.

JR mentioned the breeder is the one who told him how tall her sire and dam were, so my guess is there are farriers who specialize in working with the draft horse breeds. This was a big fancy sale of Clydesdale horses only.
It might be the norm with the breed when they are selling as show stock, but I think you're right about the stress on the foals/young stock's joints and legs when dealing with this type of shoe at such an early age. But maybe they only do it during show season and leave them barefoot the rest of the year.

What a beautiful girl! She is a fine looking horse.
A business associate of mine has Clydesdale horses and Arabians. He has one Clydesdale named Big Jake who is 26 years old 20 hands high and tops off 2,350 pounds. He is massive in size.
Every morning when I drive down the road to the office past him, he runs over to the fence near where I park my pickup regardless of where he is in the pasture.. He expects his daily treat of a few sugar cubes, or carrots or apples or water Mellon. If I forget the treats, he pouts. I have spoiled him. He is also very protective of the other Clydesdales. Jake loves to get baths and be brushed.
I suspect this girl will grow to about 1600-1700 pounds and about 16 hands high. She seems well natured and very happy. Y'all are lucky you got her.

One of the greatest joys in life is seeing someone a bit in the rough and their devine potential. Encouraging good children into great children and so gos the progress of a rough horse and bring out brilliance in one of God's most beautiful creatures. I don't care what anyone says you are good people and God's creatures you serve know it. Thanks for sharing your joys and sorrows. What a great journey.

JR, what's going on here? I love to watch all your Missouri Fox Trotters - birthing, individual stories, watching Bob, training, at the river, competition's, etc. I watch everything on your channel and love your horses and family. Then there is Oliver - our love affair with him moves to another level. He is a special horse with a special story. But now there is Nattie! We all seem to be atleast as twitterpated with her as with Oliver?? So maybe it isn't just Oliver who is so special and grabbed our hearts but the breed of Clydesdales?? Don't to get me wrong - Oliver is a very special horse and I love him as much as the next person. Whatever is going on it has brought your channel to a new dimension and I so look forward to the future! Thank you!

I really enjoyed that video but I especially loved seeing her run in the field. I don't think I've ever seen any Clydesdale, let alone a young one like her, openly running like that and it was beautiful to see. Right, it's called GALLOPING. Great word.

Bless you folks for getting those shoes off your baby girl. When I first got my Quarterhorse years ago, some a-hole had quicked him and put shoes on him. The Vet came out and took the shoes off and my boy and I walked down to a creek every day and I let him stand in the cold water. People who do things to animals for "show" nauseate me.
