just watch the old avengers press conference and you will clearly see how many diet questions scarlet Johansson gets while her costars sitting right next to her are asked questions about their characters and emotions and such. in one press conference, she even called it out in a funny way. I felt like the show was almost referencing what used to happen to scarlet
These men get asked the same too. They just don't find offence in the whole "preparing your body for the role " talk. Weight and body is just a little too sensitive issue for women that even if men get asked the same questions, people would only complain about women getting asked that
@@wiseguychampia6647 Because it doesn't fit the lighthearted tone of the show, and we didn't need to spend an entire episode on that and Bruce agonizing about having to give her a blood transfusion. Instead it was simply, "here's how she got her powers, let's get on with the show.". Is it cheap from a storytelling perspective? Yes, a bit. Does that matter? No, not really.
@@lucidiously well the Writers didn't want an Origin story and was pretty much forced to and could've used what was already in the comics? So it kind of does matter if you want a compelling backstory but they rushed it.
@@wiseguychampia6647 because it wouldn't fit with the MCU version of Hulk. Bruce is incredibly careful with his blood as it is toxic. A single drop of blood nearly killed the Stan Lee cameo, a few drops of blood turned Samuel Sterns into The Leader and a jar of it turned Blonsky into Abomination. Sterns also says that he gave Bruce's blood to multiple test subjects and they all died. Bruce wants to destroy all the samples that Sterns has. Now, with all that in mind, do you really think he would give his cousin a potentially lethal dose of blood on purpose? If it was a mob hit, it would make more sense for Bruce to hulk out and carry Jen to a hospital than give her a transfusion.
"They ask dudes that too." yes that is true BUT i remember Scarlet johansson's marvel interviews in the past. The underwear question, remember? Chris evans on the other hand, with his american ass moments😅, wasnt asked about his underwear nor hemsworth if the underwear helps in anyway to his costume. In the infinity war press interview, the moment the floor was open for questions to scarlett, the question was only about her fashion. That was the first question for her. It was a big presscon. All of marvel stars were there and the question they had for scarlett was her fashion...for the movie😅 so that part was reallly somewhat true in real life.
yeah agreed, like sometimes the men would be asked those questions but they would also get deeper questions about their character or whatever whereas the women would solely get questions about fashion and their diets
Yeah, that was probably a nod to that interview (and Scarlet Johansson's reaction to that question). That was an interview promoting a movie, with actors, to which appearance is an important part of the job. Not saying the question was not sexist, it was. I'm just skeptical a general news anchor would ask this kind of question to a lawyer in a crime-related news. Then, again, it's a comedy, so it's allowed to be over the top.
Why would anyone ask chris hemsworth or evans about their fitness routine? Hemsworth posts literally everything online and evans is a stick figure compared to hemsworth xD Meanwhile, ScarJo plays a VERY agile spy that needs to be at the top, performance-wise. Doubt anyone was quite as fit as ScarJo was :P no clue about "underwear" question, never heard of that in my life xD
I think the B-Plot was more about demonstrating that Pug is also a good lawyer. I mean, he also works at the superhuman law division, he and She-Hulk will obviously become friends/develop some sort of relationship.
It also gave us more insight to how crimes are in a world with super powers. I absolutely loved the B-plot. Marvel has always been about just living in the world. This show really delivers on that.
The B plot was there to develop all of these side characters in the show. Its a fun lawyer show after all, we will probably see new court cases almost every week that have nothing to do with main plot(abomination/wrecking crew)
"the mafia hit gone wrong" is an easter egg from the comic, because that is how she got her power... because Bruce did a blood transfer after that happened
This is Practical Torture Show at this point ~ I can't even see myself seeing u guys react without being drunk or on sleeping pills.. even then ~ Playing destiny 2 would be more enjoyable
4:44 "He reminds me of the English comedian...the one with the long hair..." Russell Brand!! YES!! Now I know where Tim Roth got this new character persona from - he turned Blonsky into Russell Brand! lol he's into all that Hare Krishna/spiritual self-improvement stuff too, as a way of coping with past addiction, so it's actually quite a brilliant take
At the end of the scene she hulk is fighting against the wrecking crew, bulldozer, thunderball, piledriver, and there leader wrecker they are hulk villains, they also fought against spider-man, Thor, and the avengers, well
@@tonyroid1 The Wrecking Crew's quality tends to vary all over the place. At one time they put the early Defenders (Sub-Mariner, Doc Strange & Nighthawk) on the ropes. Another time, Capt. America and Iron Fist fought them to a standstill. The Crew got their powers via Loki--but the actual Enchantment of their weapons came from Karnilla, Queen of the Norns (who I dont think has actually appeared in MCU??).
@@dphalanx7465 ..yea, like many characters they go up and down. And Wrecker gave his crew their powers. Yes an enchantment from the Enchantress ment for Loki, reason why Loki hates Wrecker.
The actress was actually asked the diet regime question in an interview. I'm curious if that scene was already in the series or added later. Either way it was pretty meta.
To be fair, it makes more sense to ask this to an actress who has to appear fit on screen, to a LAWYER who's here to talk about her job and not her body. But yeah, nice mise en abyme, I agree ^^
@@LyziShadow if you watch earlier interviews of MCU you'll see all the other actors like Chris Evans or Robert Downey Jr were asked what their views or feeling about the characters they're playing while Scarlett Johansson was asked about her diet plans.so it's not that far fetched thing
This show is a legal comedy, so each episode is gonna have B plots like this. That’s what a legal comedy is. It’s just random cases and court scenes. Plus the main storyline.
The B plot did two things: it gave Pug more development, and it fleshed out the world more (showed a little more of the process of the Superhuman Law Division, and showed a bit of just how much New Asgard is affecting the world in the MCU). Jen may be the star of the show, but she's not the *only* character and she doesn't represent the entire world around her.
I was worry about the show because they would get the lawyer stuff wrong but this episode was actually cool actually being in a courtroom and doing a trial was refreshing. Can’t wait till she-hulk teams up with Matt Murdock 🔥🔥
16:29 Jaby, they're right. Women DO get silly (some might say even sexist) interview questions more than men. Gerard Butler might have gotten questions regarding 300 as it was such an extreme regime (Christian Bale is another one who might get asked this), but women get these questions for literally every film they do. There is a famous example from the MCU cast where they ask every Avenger a solid question and when they come to Scarlett Johansson they ask about her diet to get into the catsuit (she'd done multiple films in that suit up until this point btw). And Robert Downey Jr. even calls the interviewer out on it (link here: ruclips.net/video/wBbSNnGmPfw/видео.html - they ask the question at the 3:29 mark). In another interview (link here: ruclips.net/video/T9sEkdJrIRM/видео.html ), the interviewer even mentions the frequency of these kinds of questions from the outset. So, no. It's not that they notice it more. Women do get these questions far more than men. Because they assume people only care about what they wear, how they look, how they maintain their looks and whether they're single/dating, rather than their skills as an artist. And no, no one asked what Camile Vasquez's fitness regime was (probably too busy focusing on Amber Heard). But the Press did constantly keep asking her if she was sleeping with Depp, which IMO is even more demeaning. When was the last time you heard of a high-profile male lawyer being asked if he was sleeping with his client?
*The Press* asked Camille Vasquez *constantly* if she was sleeping with Depp? Are you sure you're not exaggerating a tiny bit? Sure, I've seen a lot of RUclips comments or tweets, from Amber Heard supporters, throwing around this kind of disgusting insinuations, but I've never seen an actual journalist from the Press ask that to her. In my recollection, she was asked how she thought it was going, if she saw the meme with the lama, if she was closer to make it to partner, how she felt when she said this or that during trial, or, the closest question that I can remember to what you're saying, how did her boyfriend react to the public saying she and Depp look like a cute couple together. That doesn't mean that never happened, just because I never saw it, maybe you have a link to a clip where she's asked exactly that by the Press, but if it really happened *constantly*, I'm pretty sure I would have seen it at least once at the time. I have no doubt Camille Vasquez suffered some kind of sexism at what point or another, but that doesn't mean it's ok to exaggerate. I do agree with you asking a woman if she sleeps with her client is far more demeaning than asking her about her fitness regime, though.
first, I’m totally with jaby on the russel brand thing. 100%. As far as women getting asked ridiculous questions about their fashion, diet, etc, I think maybe the problem is they didn’t go far enough. I remember Scarlet Johansson getting completely fed up with people asking her about her diet and what kind of underwear she wore under her costume. It’s a real thing and in my experience as a viewer happens way more often and in more dismissive ways to women than men.
That was my favorite of the 3 episodes so far. It was hilarious, moved the story along and had a fight scene. I don't need anything else from this kind of show.
Theory: Wong was not affected by Strange's spell hence he knows Peter is Spider-Man and also he is the sorcer supreme, I am pretty sure he knows everyone.
Bloody hell, it's a comedy lawyer show and as with most comedies, it exaggerates some things but is also a reflection of society through the lens of said comedy. This is my favourite episode out of the three, this is what the show is going to be. The first two episodes seemed to be establishing the character and what she does/how she got there, now we're into the meat and potatoes. Yes there are obvious exaggerations (although not too much exaggeration is needed these days) about male toxicity and I find it funny how a lot of people are being so sensitive about it, like it hits home a bit too closely for comfort.
I think people have gotten used to a quality of product that the MCU has totally gotten away from and now we feel forced to watch this lazily written nothing of a show to keep up with the larger universe..its a comedy..but its not that funny..it has awful CGI with no plot....the show knows its bad which is why it included two scenes calling itself out for its faults....and if Disney cared about female characters they would have took the time to write and develop this character and show better instead of trying to make some obvious statements all the while contradicting themselves
@@the19kings makes sense but to me but that again is offensive...if you wanna do a show about social commentary then do a good show with enough time to really make good points...not this super obvious bare minimum pandering with lackluster comedy...kind of seems lazy and reductive.. they're calling out how women get screwed in a show where Disney is actually screwing the women in this show with bare minumum effort and investment compared to the other shows
@@ChrisSmith-tu9bu they're willing to accept whatever is given because of the branding of the MCU. They don't want to miss out, so they accept crap. I don't even watch the show anymore, I'll just watch reactions and reviews.
I loved how balanced the show was. The A/B plots really allowed for everyone to be in it. Developing 5 - 6 characters, allowing them to show not tell, while at the same time keeping Jen at the center of her own show and all of that in just 30 minutes is really impressive! The only thing is Nikki needs more screentime, Ginger Gonzaga is amazing at the role.
Those dudes are the Wrecking Crew, a band of Marvel villains with construction worker tools. I think the elf returns in the denouement. Notably, I remember the Wrecking Crew working for the Power Broker.
They're also such a classic Marvel mainstay. They show up throughout Marvel comics, not really tied to any one character. They're most famously associated with Thor but you aren't shocked to see them. They just show up, are the wrecking crew and then go back to prison until they're needed next. And man I wish more shows were introducing a steady stream of classic Marvel villains like She-Hulk has so far.
It's infuriating how they made a group of older strong men of absolute muscle into some boys with shiny weapons that couldn't even land a single hit on she hulk 🤦♂️.
@@myenimtown please, you know, it's Marvel, these characters are brought on as jokes and they're going to stay that way. Well , if they do change them, i think they're all going to get gamma radiation and become ultra buff like in the comics
Jaby gets a bit too defensive with "it happens to guys too" part. Nobody is denying it happens to guys. But look at so many old group junkets with the Avengers cast. Nobody is asking Iron Man about his outfits, Scarlett Johansson got asked about her wardrobe and other superficial stuff many, many times lol
Wasn't she complaining about it...BTW THEY DID A WHOLE EPISODE ABOUT CAPTAIN AMERICAS BUTT LMFAO...this show is COMPLETELY OBJECTIFYING Captain America while trying to make a statement about objectification...so freaking dumb
Yeah because men wear a suit to these premiers and stuff , while women wear designer stuff . They do it to get noticed. Men get asked but they just don't take offense in it ig
Well, gonna cry? The show is literally only about how she is woman and has to face the world as a woman, whereas it could be much more than that, I know it's not apt to compare it to better call saul, but in that they handled a female lawyer character (kim's character) in a much better way, then what they are doing here, they are just showing an unnuanced version of the world.
The B plot was to establish that Superpowered beings need to have their powers restricted when they are on trial and when they are in jail probably hinting at the same control collars they used in deadpool 2
I love how my dude says "Picture Picture," because it reminds me of my "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood" days (I'm 54, so I'm from that show's first audience.) Thanks for these! I think you three are a great team!
I just had a thought: since the Wrecking Crew clearly were trying to take She-Hulk's blood and it failed miserably, imagine that when they try again (since they totally will), the one they work for will give them a new device, with the needle being made of adamantium. I'm just spitballing the idea. But since they already dropped a Wolverine Easter egg, the MCU is dropping hints of mutants in Multiverse of Madness and Ms. Marvel, and that adamantium is one of the few things that can pierce the Hulk's skin (just look up Hulk vs. Wolverine), I'd say it's possible to introduce a bit of adamantium in this show.
That's a good theory! It would make since because Wolverine back when he was introduced in the comics, he was Hulk's biggest threats, besides Abomination! Hope that's the case
I used to have a friend who was just like Dennis they are hard to come back but those type of idiots really exist. His narcissism and delusional was of thinking was some of the funniest shit I've ever seen in my life.
Do they? When I see Dennis, it reminds me of the "over the top racist character" Bill Burr's talking about in his White Guilt skit (ruclips.net/video/rjJlE2BxQfA/видео.html). I've already heard someone say characters like this hurt more than they help the cause, because they're so over the top even the real racist/sexist people think "well, at least I'm not THAT bad". So I'm quite surprised you knew one who was that bad. Dennis feels almost like a cartoon character!
@@LyziShadow Well if people are stupid enough to belive their ignorant behavior is on because a character on a TV show is worse then they need help cause they are morons. Instead of censoring a character why not try showing the idiots that the character isn't a real person, it's fictional, make believe. If they can't understand that then they are a lost cause.
So far, I think the series has a lot going on at once which (IMO) realistically portrays the various aspects to life that women must deal with in our society. As for being asked about their bodies, women have been asked about them for decades whereas men only recently with the trend of actors in superhero/comic book movies. There's an interview from 1975 with Helen Mirren in which she was asked about her breasts being a distraction from the seriousness of her work.
The four dudes are The Wrecking Crew. Thunderball, Pile-driver, Bulldozer and The Wrecker. The guy with the crowbar. They are mid level baddies so Shulkie destroying them is fine. Pug is from the comics. He's being built as a decent guy, one of Shulks best friends.
I think this was the strongest She-Hulk episode, I'm surprised Jaby didn't enjoy it as much. All the social critiques are "on the nose" but at the same time it's realistic imo. And the bit about online harassment people (specially women & minorities) face? That was so on point. Literally the internet has been buzzing about She-Hulk for the past couple of weeks and there's been countless of non-sensical comments, posts and videos about the show with people attacking something that just isn't there. I like how this episode kinda parodied reality and it turned out to be almost what's happening in the real world. And if this was a "feminist man-hating show" I'd love it tbh, even if it's not. After how bad women were portrayed in Phase 1 and 2? Come on. Let's balance the scales. Oh and Jaby, having interviews where they only ask you about fitness or diets does NOT happen as often to men. There's even compilations of the female cast of Marvel (or maybe just Scarlett Johansson) answering to sexist questions.
I don't think it's a "man-hating show", because there are positive male characters like Bruce, Pug, and Jen's father. I do agree that *sometimes* the feminist talking points are a bit "on the nose" to the point of being annoying. Doesn't mean those issues don't exist though. Just wish it was brought up in a less heavy handed way.
Also I'm curious about what you mean about "how bad women were portrayed in Phase 1 and 2". What did you find so bad, could you explain? I do remember Black Widow specifically being badly written, sure. As in, she was nothing more than a sex symbol with no personality whatsoever (the way she talked or looked around was almost robotic) in her first couple of appearances. (And I have nothing against a character being a sex symbol, especially when it fits the character, like with a Femme Fatale style spy, I have something against characters who are NOTHING ELSE than that.) She started to get interesting by The Winter Soldier. Which also causes problem, because the way she's relaxed and cracks jokes from then on until the Black Widow movie, she feels like a completely different character. But what was wrong with Pepper Potts? Agent Carter? Jane Foster? Loki and Thor's mother Freya? Maria Hill? They seemed fine to me (though some more interesting than others). What makes you feel they were portrayed so badly it warrants a "feminist man-hating show" to balance the scales?
@@LyziShadow I was mainly referring to Black Widow, yes. I don't remember the first two Thor movies (love 3 and 4, but the first two kinda... bored me). Same for the Iron Man movies. Pepper was kinda like a side character and the only thing Tony cared about was objectifying the hot women around them. Agent Carter is iconic, but many people didn't like her, and still don't. Which kinda tells you the state of female characters then and now. The other characters, I don't remember them having enough scenes to make an impact. I mean didn't Maria Hill have more screen-time in Agents of SHIELD? XD And I put "man-hating show" between quotes because that's the reaction some people have had about it.
@@LyziShadow exactly, there's enough men on She-Hulk being portrayed in a good way to put all those bad comments to rest. But they'll still complain about the show because #notallmen or whatever. Btw I *love* Pug. Specially in this last episode.
@@JordiVanderwaal Well, they WERE side characters, though. So it's ok for them to be treated as such. Agent Coulson, Rhodey, the Swedish professor, all of them were side characters, and I don't feel like these male side characters treated as side characters is somehow an insult to all the male gender. Sure, it would have been better to have more female MAIN characters, but the fact that all main characters in Phase 1 and 2 were male doesn't translate to me as "women being badly portrayed". So, I still disagree, but thank you for helping me better understand your point of view.
The way I’ve been seeing men portrayed in the show is exactly how men speak in the comment section of these alpha male podcasts. It’s clearly directed at those type of dude I definitely don’t feel like they need to baby the rest of the male audience as if they don’t have any type of strong male figures in the MCU. I can understand why they would bring these characteristics to the forefront to show the mentality of how most of these guys think that are in positions of power and influence and how it hinders a lot of women in the workplace
@@synical13 They don't need to watch it, they'll watch one scene somewhere and grumble about it lol. It's just self aware and honestly hilarious that they went, "yeah that's what the toxic betas are saying, ha! screw them!" And we cheer with them. I dont want to convince them that they're wrong about how they treat women... they have to EARN my attention, otherwise they can just move out of the way because we're gonna get our equality whether they want to or not. And "echo chamber" is just a buzzword for "social agreement". Yeah, of course it's nice to talk to people who are like minded. It'd be a terrible existence to live in a bubble with people who think incorrectly or are prejudiced all around. It's just like calling an anime club where all the anime loving people go to an "anime echo chamber"... yeah... they all have the same interests. That's how clubs and organizations have always been. Every group, organization and etc who've protested or created movements are "Echo chambers". And it's never exactly the same by the way. Even when in a group of like minded individuals you can learn and perfect and sometimes even find internalized phobias or preconceptions and work through them. But yeah, I'm not gonna go talk to the "mothers of america" group about gay rights and have them call me a sin and say I'm going to hell every day... why would I put myself through that? Nope. I'm gonna go hang out with the "diversity club" where I know I'm welcome.
I agree w Jaby about Roth channeling Russell Brand - Achara's comparison w Bruce's "Zen" reflects the screenwriters' conception, whereas Jaby's point about Brand is more about the actor's conception - what Roth is actually doing onscreen to deliver the writers' idea - Roth may not be consciously "doing Brand" - it may just be because Roth and Brand have a similar dialect, and how Roth's humor here plays off the "music" of that dialect, though I think Jaby also hinted at some aspect of Roth's body language - also, Roth's hilarious mix of mock piety and almost condescending insouciance, esp during the hearing, that reminds me a lot of Brand's comic persona
I think the reason for the B plot is to show that the Inhibitors are being introduced. Not only that but that the government now is going to use that to control people with mutant and or superhuman abilities and this could lead to a rise of the Sentinels like an X-Men
it was soo good Jaby tends to Over think things and forget to have fun sometimes..he was laughing a lot bu he seems to forget that this show is a Comedy..its not meant to be taken too seriously.
B-plot might definitely set up Pug to defend one of the good characters from the show or even she-hulk herself considering how even the tiniest of her actions in the show can create stories and really be used against her as she is a public figure and she did help in releasing the abomination who will be a main character in the thunderbolts... the media in this show is very frustrating considering they built tons of rumours about Jennifer Walters and Emil Blonsky with the interview on live tv really shows how the media is trying to show the superhumans to the public and how this can also but by a very thin line also set up the X-men as we all know how it's always the People vs Mutants in the comics
The "Random" guys were actually the wrecking crew, they are the typical basic bad guys. Titania was a member of the wrecking crew, so i think she's their boss in this, and her boyfriend is Absorbing man, one of hulks strongest enemy's.
I laughed so hard when Jen drove and left the wheel while the green screen "road" kept running in the background... LOL. The Mafia reference is from the SHE-HULK comic origin story. :)
I've seen lots of interviews where they ask females those stupid questions about diet and stuff. Just because you don't see it does not mean it ain't happening.
The secondary plot was to get to know both the former coworker and current coworker better. A two for one. It really highlighted the character difference between the two. Her sketchy former coworker is a prosecuting attorney from the DA's office and Jen is now a defence lawyer. Obviously they'll facing off against each other in the courtroom. That's why he had a bigger "get to know you" role in this episode before that begins.
The guys trying to jump Jen near the end are the Wrecking Crew. Usually villains of Thor & Hulk, they were construction workers that had tools enchanted by Loki to be able to fight at Thor-level.
I love how Jaby only ever likes/loves the first episode in any of the MCU series the most as that's the one episode where the hype and mystery coincide. After that he progressively loses interest as the show is now known quantity to him and he looks at everything through the lens of those fabled first episodes that can never give him that feeling of wonder and excitement. It's funny watching him go through the same mental processes every single time and not realise. Lol
The B-plot develops sides characters and also adds to the shows themes about feminism. When you see Jen at the end of the episode, just like the court case where all the annoyance shes had to deal with her coworker, she get to use it to embarassh him. She realize how much more agency she has being She-Hulk now. Think about those same situations would play out had she been a regular woman, with no powers and that's the realization she has at the end of the episode.
Jaby continues to serve invalidating energy... like kuya, can we tone down the bias just a tad bit? The "guys get it just as bad" rhetoric just comes off as super tone deaf.
I think the B plot is to show you why there needs to be a superhuman law division. It also shows you the ramifications of an entire population dropping onto earth. How new Asgard is affecting earth in more details. This is she hulk bridging the mcu to one another.
I would say how awesome the wrecking crew is or could be but don't people look at the cast list to see who will be playing who? Then they won't be surprised and or mad when they show up just a little heads up 👍
Jamila Jamile is apparently friends with Megan, and that's how her appearance was arranged. And then it turned out that Tatyana is a massive fan of her. So the B plot was to get them in the same room.
Jaby: "What's the point of this story?" Jen Walters: "Lawyer show" I think it's realistic to expect B or even C stories that involve court cases where different MCU/otherworldly characters appear.
When Mary Barra was appointed CEO of GM she was asked by Matt Lauer - in front of cameras - if she could handle being a CEO and a mother. Something no male auto CEO had been asked. So I think people might be surprised at some of the sexism flying around in corporate offices, but I think it's wrong to dismiss it. There are loads of decent guys in this show. There are a few absolute tools. Kinda like real life.
13:45 The secondary plot w/ Pug seemed a bit unnecessary but I can acc see why they did it. It was a good way for us to get more time w/ Pug & get to know him better (which I enjoyed), but that court case is also what led to Jen getting the idea to give Blonksy the inhibitor for his parole.
Watch some of the cringy interviews with Scarlett Johansson, Brie Larson, and other female actresses in the MCU. Some of the interviewers ask the men about the serious acting subjects and ask the women “do you wear underwear under your suit”. So the newsperson is about as vain as the real life ones.
Yeah, I agree. Some of these interviews were cringy. " *Some* of the interviewers ask the women do you wear underwear under your suit", though? Didn't that happen ONCE? From ONE interviewer? That's one time too many already, sure, but still...
Pretty sure Titania hired the wrecking crew(guys who stole asguardian construction workers) to get Jenn's blood. I know it makes some sense but not really, like the entire show. I'm liking it so far tho
Those guys were the Wrecking Crew. You hear the leader refer to the one guy as "Thunderball". The others should be Wrecker, Piledriver, and, Bulldozer.
For a show that repeatedly refers to itself as "a gun lawyer show" why are so many people critizing for it being exactly what it says it is. You go into these episodes thinking every line of dialog is in reference to some big upcoming event. Everyone starts looking at every scene expecting it to be relevant to the future of the MCU as a whole when it's clearly not trying to be. Did you really sit down to watch a show about a giant green lawyer lady and expect it to be some profound work of art?
Cuz its not that great, it is what it showed in the trailers, but this should be way better. its been meh for me so far. Needs better writing and better and likable characters
Jaby, I think the court scene might be a funny reaction to real court scene between johnny and Amber i think...since we saw those videos more....Just saying 😂 😂
B plot: Dennis is probably going to be a thorn in her side. He's a decent attorney (skill wise) but he's going to be popping up and being absolutely annoying to Jen in the courtroom. Titania is a long time nemesis to She-hulk so I am thinking she might be the "boss" the guys were talking about.
Jaby bringing up Thor and 300 just reinforces what the ladies are saying. Those guys are abnormally muscular so of course people ask. People dont just ask an average guy about their workout routine the way they will ask a woman. I guess She-Hulk is an example of a woman who would be asked but in general women are asked more often than men. Also those guys at the end are obviously a sadly comedic version of the Wrecking Crew from the comics. I hope they eventually have some kind of change and become an actually problem. Those characters have gone toe to toe with the Hulk and Thor in the comics and I really hope they don't stay the complete joke they were in this episode.
Everybody except this panel thinks that this is the best episode so far. The reason there’s a B-plot is because that’s the way that legal procedurals are done. Funny that Jaby reluctantly gives a nod to the show calling out the negative fanboys when he was one of them in the first episode reaction.
yeah jaby has been lowkey misogynistic,, i've only really noticed after watching their harley quinn and she-hulk reactions, and how he isn't willing to understand womens experiences lmao
She-hulk has the same tone as crazy ex-girlfriend(a comedy musical tv show), I suggest you guys watch that one if you want to have a comparison for this series.
Jameela Jamil’s character is (hopefully in accordance with the comics) the early introduction to Secret Wars. I really hope Titania BECOMES the SpiderWoman 🤞🏽
There are more lawyers working in the superhuman law division than just Jen. Im sure they will feature all of them in court. This is the whole point of the show, them taking cases that has superhuman involved.
So the four guys with the stolen tools were the Wrecking Crew. Basically the only group that goes toe to toe with Thor, and often considered muscle above everything else. And my theory for the blood steal? One person who’d be fascinated with gamma radiated blood, Samuel Sterns. Aka, The Leader.
I feel like ppl asking the cast of 300 abt their diet/exercise makes sense they’re beef cakes on display But Even they eventually got sum Serious questions like abt stunts, fellow cast mates, etc… She came on as an Attorney 1st Who happens to be a Hulk but Either way THINK, wouldn’t your 1st question be “Can you please explain how you got your powers & who the Hulk is to you”? “Any differences between you too, who is stronger”?! “Would you ever join the Avengers, etc”? She is a Hulk, why tf would she need diet & exercise… did Bruce?! Ask her “Why do u seem to have Control when he didn’t”? I feel like they’d ask Hulk all the seriousdhit then lighten the mood w/ a lil “Hulk Humor”, “What’s your diet & exercise Hulk”? Smgdh
just watch the old avengers press conference and you will clearly see how many diet questions scarlet Johansson gets while her costars sitting right next to her are asked questions about their characters and emotions and such. in one press conference, she even called it out in a funny way. I felt like the show was almost referencing what used to happen to scarlet
I saw that press conference.
These men get asked the same too. They just don't find offence in the whole "preparing your body for the role " talk. Weight and body is just a little too sensitive issue for women that even if men get asked the same questions, people would only complain about women getting asked that
All the avengers team got asked the diet work out question not just scarlet
And the underwear she wore under the Black Widow costume.
I need to know about Thor, does he wear a loincloth or commando.
Did you forgot that the first episode was all in captain America ass 😂
The "Mafia hit gone wrong" is a reference to how she got her powers in the comics.
Why could've been the origin in this show???
@@wiseguychampia6647 you’ll have to see
@@wiseguychampia6647 Because it doesn't fit the lighthearted tone of the show, and we didn't need to spend an entire episode on that and Bruce agonizing about having to give her a blood transfusion.
All of marvel stars were there and the question they had for scarlett was her fashion...for the movie😅 so that part was reallly somewhat true in real life.
i was thinking that too.
yeah agreed, like sometimes the men would be asked those questions but they would also get deeper questions about their character or whatever whereas the women would solely get questions about fashion and their diets
Exactly
Yeah, that was probably a nod to that interview (and Scarlet Johansson's reaction to that question).
That was an interview promoting a movie, with actors, to which appearance is an important part of the job.
Not saying the question was not sexist, it was.
I'm just skeptical a general news anchor would ask this kind of question to a lawyer in a crime-related news.
Then, again, it's a comedy, so it's allowed to be over the top.
Why would anyone ask chris hemsworth or evans about their fitness routine?
Hemsworth posts literally everything online and evans is a stick figure compared to hemsworth xD
Meanwhile, ScarJo plays a VERY agile spy that needs to be at the top, performance-wise. Doubt anyone was quite as fit as ScarJo was :P no clue about "underwear" question, never heard of that in my life xD
I think the B-Plot was more about demonstrating that Pug is also a good lawyer. I mean, he also works at the superhuman law division, he and She-Hulk will obviously become friends/develop some sort of relationship.
and maybe shehulk will use the elf too in the future
How about Matt Murdock destroys PUG in a case and She-Hulk has to save the case.
OF COURSE Pug is a good lawyer…
You might even say he is always..,
“One step ahead” 😏😂
It also gave us more insight to how crimes are in a world with super powers. I absolutely loved the B-plot. Marvel has always been about just living in the world. This show really delivers on that.
But what is the point of this show ?
There is absolutely no reason to watch this show.... Every episode is just getting worse
The B plot was there to develop all of these side characters in the show. Its a fun lawyer show after all, we will probably see new court cases almost every week that have nothing to do with main plot(abomination/wrecking crew)
That’s what I thought this is a perfect way to develop the side characters. Wouldn’t be surprise if nicki gets her storyline in the next episode

Abomination is Russell Brand and Hulk is Shrek?! Damn
At the end of the scene she hulk is fighting against the wrecking crew, bulldozer, thunderball, piledriver, and there leader wrecker they are hulk villains, they also fought against spider-man, Thor, and the avengers, well
Remember Wrecker stole their powers from Loki. Also the crew gave She-Hulk that brutal beat down in Secret Wars.

I'm with you Jaby, that's exactly who came to my mind -- Russell Brand. Especially when he started saying 'Spiritually' with that accent of his.

@@user-km4lo8zz6z ah yes "comedy" block all the criticisms with it
16:29 Jaby, they're right.
I think I'm the only one who agrees with jabby on this lol
Facts
I think the whole B plot was to: 1. Develop other characters like Pug and 2. Introduce the Powers inhibitor concept.
first, I’m totally with jaby on the russel brand thing.

The ending characters are the “Wrecking Crew”, which yes, are characters who are typically using construction equipment 😅
He did an excellent job and Tatiana as well TBH
They're also such a classic Marvel mainstay. They show up throughout Marvel comics, not really tied to any one character. They're most famously associated with Thor but you aren't shocked to see them. They just show up, are the wrecking crew and then go back to prison until they're needed next. And man I wish more shows were introducing a steady stream of classic Marvel villains like She-Hulk has so far.
It's infuriating how they made a group of older strong men of absolute muscle into some boys with shiny weapons that couldn't even land a single hit on she hulk 🤦♂️.

Or they could just use vibranium
If they could somehow get a hold of it
I used to have a friend who was just like Dennis they are hard to come back but those type of idiots really exist. His narcissism and delusional was of thinking was some of the funniest shit I've ever seen in my life.

So far, I think the series has a lot going on at once which (IMO) realistically portrays the various aspects to life that women must deal with in our society.
As for being asked about their bodies, women have been asked about them for decades whereas men only recently with the trend of actors in superhero/comic book movies.
XD
And I put "man-hating show" between quotes because that's the reaction some people have had about it.
@@LyziShadow exactly, there's enough men on She-Hulk being portrayed in a good way to put all those bad comments to rest. But they'll still complain about the show because #notallmen or whatever.

Sure, it would have been better to have more female MAIN characters, but the fact that all main characters in Phase 1 and 2 were male doesn't translate to me as "women being badly portrayed".
So, I still disagree, but thank you for helping me better understand your point of view.

The guys trying to jump Jen near the end are the Wrecking Crew. Usually villains of Thor & Hulk, they were construction workers that had tools enchanted by Loki to be able to fight at Thor-level.
Jaby I thought the exact same thing about Emil channeling Russell Brand, it was so on the nose.
jaby "we're watching Hulk.......... She Hulk!"
Achara "whoa whoa nelly"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pugliesi (Adrian Chase from Arrow😏)
is a character in She Hulk comics “Pug” is his nickname
Imagine a guy naming himself Marcus the Mare.
Was the actor playing Denise played Sherminator in American Pie? He looks so familiar.
Lol
Or the show is simply uninteresting so far.
He’s so bored, cut the discussion off.
@@MrInvadazoid the entire point went clear over your head lol
The B-plot develops sides characters and also adds to the shows themes about feminism. When you see Jen at the end of the episode, just like the court case where all the annoyance shes had to deal with her coworker, she get to use it to embarassh him. She realize how much more agency she has being She-Hulk now.
Think about those same situations would play out had she been a regular woman, with no powers and that's the realization she has at the end of the episode.
_12:09__ Who appears in the window of the car is the alter ego of the female hulk in control and not Jennifer Walters?_
This whole idea that just because you have not seen it, it doesn't exist is stupid and naive
Hey editor(s) Glad they’re reaching to this but are they ever going to finish Love Death + Robots? Also what about Dark??
I feel that strange commissioned wong to be the sorcerer supreme 🤣🤣👍👍
Jaby continues to serve invalidating energy... like kuya, can we tone down the bias just a tad bit? The "guys get it just as bad" rhetoric just comes off as super tone deaf.
but it is thho and it has nothing to do with a female superhero leading the show
I think the B plot is to show you why there needs to be a superhuman law division. It also shows you the ramifications of an entire population dropping onto earth. How new Asgard is affecting earth in more details. This is she hulk bridging the mcu to one another.
I would say how awesome the wrecking crew is or could be but don't people look at the cast list to see who will be playing who? Then they won't be surprised and or mad when they show up just a little heads up 👍
Jaby is looking for a realistic show? That's clearly not what this show is going for.
Jamila Jamile is apparently friends with Megan, and that's how her appearance was arranged. And then it turned out that Tatyana is a massive fan of her. So the B plot was to get them in the same room.
This was definitely my favorite of the three I didn’t know how much I wanted a B plot
Having the Wrecking Crew show up as both a punchline and hinting at some big bad guy was an interesting choice
Jaby: "What's the point of this story?"
Jen Walters: "Lawyer show"
I think it's realistic to expect B or even C stories that involve court cases where different MCU/otherworldly characters appear.
@@LyziShadow I’ve seen interviewers ask about makeup regimens while interviewing about an action flick.
@@1amazeme I don't doubt it, but that's not relevant to my point?
@@LyziShadow no…I believe situations like that have happened multiple times, globally.
It's cool how they tied the Wong controlling Abomination from Shang Chi angle into this show.
When Jen references "an Asguardian " to the Wrecking Crew it a nod to how The Wrecker got his power from Loki. Now..whose their boss?
Pretty sure Titania hired the wrecking crew(guys who stole asguardian construction workers) to get Jenn's blood. I know it makes some sense but not really, like the entire show. I'm liking it so far tho
Jaby is like : Why am i watching this 😅
Those guys were the Wrecking Crew. You hear the leader refer to the one guy as "Thunderball". The others should be Wrecker, Piledriver, and, Bulldozer.
I can't believe they're calling it "She Hulk ATTOERNEY AT LAW" and this is how they're representing the court scenes.
This episode was great! Way better than the first two! Hopefully the future episodes are longer! Enjoyed the reaction 🙏🏽
Jaby is not amused🤣🤣🤣
We got She-Hulk shakin ass what a time to be alive 😌
4:44 Jaby, you're right, The English comedian is Russell Brand, right?
Jaby, I think the court scene might be a funny reaction to real court scene between johnny and Amber i think...since we saw those videos more....Just saying 😂 😂
Ya that hearsay when her own lawyer objects 😂 i thought of that though it was but different here
@@Azx12345 But It's kinda look same u know..😂 😂
That end credit was ridiculous.
Pug employing the Arnold Rimmer defence.
He can’t keep his misogyny from bubbling to the top. Notice how quickly discussion was cut off.
She-hulk has the same tone as crazy ex-girlfriend(a comedy musical tv show), I suggest you guys watch that one if you want to have a comparison for this series.
i saw that end scene, and my response was "im sorry i ever made fun of the hawkeye end scene"
You’ve seen a legal show before.
@@JohnnyPappas yes quiet a few.
3:17 Same man 😂
So the four guys with the stolen tools were the Wrecking Crew. Basically the only group that goes toe to toe with Thor, and often considered muscle above everything else. And my theory for the blood steal? One person who’d be fascinated with gamma radiated blood, Samuel Sterns. Aka, The Leader.
where did this Bruna come from? Isn't shapeshifting Loki's power who was not even from Asgard
Loki was taught by his mother the ways of the witches who raised her. It was her way of passing her son a birthright. :
)
Smgdh
