We'll talk about BMW issues and problems as well as the big wins when it comes to reliability. Then you can finally answer the question of is BMW reliable?

    I loved all my BMWs. For those who don’t own one and just read stupid magazines - great. Keep thinking they are”unreliable”. Just like any brand there are some better and some worse. However I would much rather be behind the wheel of a 3 series than a Nissan Altima.

    My dad has an i128 he bough new in 2015, 170k miles and still going. I think the most expensive job he has done on the car was all brakes and it was $1500. I sometimes think reliability depends on how you take care of the car.

      It's literally how you take care of it. I had a 325! And I barely had issues with it I lost it before I hit the 200k milestone because someone pulled out in front of me and totaled it. Some models and years have had their issues regardless. But if you keep up with your car, you they aren't as bad overall as people make them to be

    • @Vincent-ke5zn
      @Vincent-ke5zn Месяц назад

    • @kurltonfalconer9353
      @kurltonfalconer9353 Месяц назад

      @Vincent-ke5zn it really depends on which model you get. But it really matters how you take care of them. If it's used how did the previous owners take care of it. If you dog them out all the time, of course you'll have issues I was fortunate to have it with one previous owner and it was an older lady who regularly took it to the dealership in my area.

    Nice Video Mark. As always you are up to the point. Your rating on X5 xdrive40i of 2.5 suprises me. I own that vehicle for 4 years, no issues. Many of my friends and family own X5 post 2019 models without any issues other than maintenance. I think X5 40i with B58 is 4 stars all the way, no worries there.
    Also, in your video when you were rating X4 it showed X5 highlighted with stars, just a note.

    The 2.0l turbo has proven to be reliable in both BMW and Mini. Even their dual clutch automatic transmission has been reliable. If you want a reliable BMW make sure to use 93 octane, and have the oil changed every 5,000 miles instead of the recommended 10,000 miles.

    I think you are off on the x5 G05 with the b58. I bought this truck for my wife and it has been rock solid. I am usually a Lexus fanatic for reliability and resale but went with the B58 because even Toyota uses this motor. Not a single issue since 2020. Literally no issues whatsoever. Well out of warranty and solid. I also made sure to not get the air ride suspension and the s drive version wi h M sport package. Less things to break plus we aren't hauling anything but the family. I think this vehicle is a solid 4+ stars.

    I was looking at a 2018 440i but turns out it had 2 crashes. This is usually the case for for any decently priced vehicles I come across. Is there any case in which buying a car with a crash on its history worth it particularly when it has a lower than average price?

    • @ECPP
      @ECPP  Месяц назад

      Hi, I generally shy away from all wrecked cars and would recommend the same unless the price is extremely tempting and the intent is to keep it for almost ever. I would also need to see the paperwork from the seller on the issue and how much the repair was done for. Make sure your research the bodyshop that did the work and be satisfied in the result. Always good to give it a good look over too such as paint spray on rubber, trim, and a mismatch.

    Said it before, I'll say it again: BWW puts the "BM" in the "Werks". After owning two 320i's, a 4 series and in 2010, a Z convertible, all in sequence because BMW was the only dealership would only give us a decent trade-in value, we finally conquered the Germans, like the allies did so many years ago. Reliability? No matter the model that is a pipe dream. But wait for it....someone will comment that their 2000 BMW has 500,000mi and they only changed the oil.

      Thanks for sharing. There were some nightmare models during the Chris Bangle era, but things have gotten a bit better. Albeit, not perfect, but few makes are these days. The biggest difference is more around cost of servicing which is high on these vehicles.

      @@ECPP Are the costs of ownership for repairs surrounding parts, or labor/frequency? If I have a mechanic who is not going to charge me more depending on vehicle type, is the cost of ownership still considered significantly higher?

    The police and the tow trucks love BMW, they both stay busy, while you're getting a speeding/reckless driving citation from the police officer, the tow truck is taking your BMW to the impound lot
