New BMW's seem to be much more reliable than older ones, they have certainly stepped up their game. B58 is one of best modern engines period!
I would agree, by todays standards the B58 and B48 is better than many out there if it’s competition
Well the E46 generation and below were more reliable than current BMWs
@@thegamer4646 My E46 fell apart after 90k miles. Fuel pump, o2 sensors, fuel rail, coil packs, AC, the steering pump, oil pump, one shock....the audio system shorted. No....just no. My E92 died at 120k miles though to the interior credit, the interior looked great.
My X2 has 100k miles and still looks and feels new. Nothing....not a damn thing wrong with it other than tires and brakes.
@@randomguy3034same my m340 running smooth 80k miles
@@randomguy3034why did you purchase another Beemer after all that happened with the other ..? I would have lost faith in their brand ..
Man, i sit down on the toilet for my morning "cleansing" and find the video i requested. Thanks for not making a lexus commercial!
Haha, good morning
Lexus all the way

Mark I was a service Engineer for the Automative Industry for many years. You are doing a great job ...Keep up the good work…My wife and can’t thank you enough…
Thank you so much, I really appreciate the support from you and your wife. Hope you have a wonderful summer, looks like things are starting to warm up. Cheers
@@ECPPCheers from Australia 👍
Had a Lexus GS300 for 13 years with 235k but it had lots of small issues. The engine and transmission were rock solid. After we paid off the house I was kinda hoping it would break down so I could get a newer car but the darn thing refused 😂to break down. After a positive experience with GS, we bought a used Lexus RX450h few years ago. It's a 2010 model so it's I was concerned about a hybrid battery but 3.6 years later and many miles in it with Lexus bulletproof reliability I don't even think about it. Just drive and don't worry.
The over-engineered German cars' design make it perform well and more fun to drive but it also make it more expensive to stay reliable as compared with the Japanese. Thanks for the video!
You are welcome and quite right in that assessment
Exactly bro
Absolutely. Although I heard that "life's too short to drive boring cars". 😉
The Porsche 911 looks almost like the Porsche Boxster 981.
I agree with you 500 %
I'm blown away at how much information this dude can remember and recite in a linear fashion. Just like his description of the power band on a few of these "units". He speaks so swiftly that I have to repeat bits over and over.
Thank you for watching and sharing
All the late cars they all have the same problems timming chains gearbox overheating etc etc😅😅😮😮 be careful what you buy buy a 25 year old Mercedes you'll never go wrong😊😊😊 😊
5 years ago, I traded in my 2017 Infiniti Q60 which was plagued with electrical issues (including a faulty wiring harness) for a 2018 BMW M240i X-drive. The B58 engine is far superior to the Infiniti 3L V6 and the transmissions (7-speed, laggy old Nissan technology vs lightning-quick, state-of-the-art ZF 8-speed) don't even compare in terms of responsiveness. Trading in the Q60 for the M240i was the best car-buying decision I've ever made!
I traded in my 05 Infiniti g35 and and 08 M35 which I had for over 10 years. They were extremely reliable and never had any major issues. Yes they were older tech but rock solid and engine was silky smooth. Both were over 160k miles on the odometer.
Regarding the European cars, a Master Tech at a major MB dealership said: " Too much engineering, too much money, too many failures..."
Thanks for a good video! 👍
That’s going to be a problem
Thanks Mark for another Great and informative car tutorial video!!
Fabulous knowledge Mark!! Thank you for the detailed review. 🇨🇦
Hey Mark. Havent caught your live in a while but as a Benz enthusiast I'm happy to see the CLA. I'm gonna look for a CLA 45 for my wife
Thanks for still being here ❤ love your videos
Thanks for the support
I didn't know the 330 was reliable. Good to know !
Nice Vid drop Mark!! once again a fun-filled info- maxed vid!! Great stuff......i caught myself drooling at these beauties!! Thanks Mark!! you are the Best!!
Glad you like them! I appreciate your support. That means a lot to me as a smaller creator.
Another good video! Happy to see some lexus cars in this one. We’ve got a 2020 ES350 with 45k miles and it has been flawless. Fantastic highway cruiser and I’m getting 31-34mpg at 80-90mph. Bought it certified with a maintenance plan for what a loaded Camry or Accord cost. Wife has a 2023 GX460 and I wanted the last V8 GX. The new 3.4 turbo V6 is total garbage from what I’ve been seeing online with one guy on his 3rd engine in 49k miles on his Tundra. My experience with long term ownership with turbo vehicles has not been good so I’m a huge naturally aspirated fan. Keep up the great work!
My 2014 Mercedes CLA 250 has 103,000 miles and everything works. Just change the oil at every 5,000 miles and the transmission fluid/filter every 60,000 miles. Get the ones with the LED headlights
Agreed on the update comment
.....That LC 500 is a SERIOUS contender for the very BEST sports car ever produced...... They are show stoppers at any traffic Light, Sound GREAT and indeed....You might consider this vehicle over the Porsche and Jag...although nice simply the LC 500 has the the class IMO!
I agree, it has class and style and sounds great too. It’s a huge win
Out of the many cars I've owned, the Porsche 911 is the finest car I've ever owned.
If you're in that segment, don't drive one unless you're prepared to make a potential switch.
@@dirkpalmer1067 You did NOT mention BE Repaired to get ripped off at Dealership on Maintenance!....It is no secret that the dealerships RIPP you off on service...to say nothing aabout a 150K car Plummeting on Re-Sale
@donaldbanner2185 did I need the CAPS? 😉
Recommend getting a CPO with renewal options to 15 years. If not, look up anticipated service costs on KBB prior to needs and use a certified independent mechanic. Join your local PCA for info share of local discounted shops, etc.
Also, do your research so you are aware of potential issues with your model. E.g. Although the waterpump issue was mostly corrected, my 2019 4 gts is still a risk based on Porsche extending coverage for that part.
Hope this helps!!!
Yes! I just bought a 220 CLA 4matic AMGline and still has 1 more year of warranty😊 I’m so happy with it!
Great to hear!
This was a great video man, makes me feel confident in my decision with recently purchasing a 2014 CLA 250 with the AMG package, in great condition, 1 owner and bought with 105k miles for 11.5k. so far I absolutely love it and it honestly reminds me of my Mazda RX8 shinka edition with the way it drives and handles! And that's not throwing shade at Benz comparing it to the Mazda which are great fun cars to drive. Miss my baby rx8 just not reliable enough with the rotary engine 😢 thx again for vid my dude
Right on!
I have a 2017 Audi A3 never had a issue love the car
What diesel car is good for commute 160 km per workday? Been looking at Skoda octavia and BMW 320d, any help would be appreciated.
Great video
Can you please do a one for a Mercedes S class? W222
Please make a 2021-2023 BMW reliability update video for 330i etc. thank you great content
Thanks
Hi, what about the 330e ? I am worried about battery … which is small and Every day is filled. What you think?
Hi - luv your channel. Quick opinion if you don’t mind . AMG gle 53 vs Cayenne S engine. Which do you think is more reliable? Also after 3 years are they about the same for repairs and maintenance or is one much more expensive? Thanks and keep the shows coming.
Toyota Lexus rules baby!!!❤
Nice
Love the Acura…good call with the TLX
Hot damn, the very first car you show is what i drive, even the same color.
What are your thoughts on Alfa Romeo reliability, specifically the 2020 Giulia? I'm considering getting one, it's a reasonable price, 35,000 miles with the 2.0L Turbo 4 and AWD.
I’ve been shopping 2024 bmw, x1 , series 2 rear drive 4 cylinder and the 3 as well. Do all those have the B48?
Help me out a little I’m looking at a single owner 2011 bmw 128i it’s got a bunch of records with it. I really do want the status of driving a BMW.. since it’s got the NA 3.0 is it pretty reliable?
OH yeah! The LC 500 has been on the radar for awhile. Glad to have validation from your comments!
Be well Mark! Another great video!
Thanks, you too Thomas. Yes the Lexus LC509 has always been on the radar as a less sinful choice as it’s beautiful, plenty quick, and amazingly fun to drive. Can’t forget reliable. Definitely a look and honestly a nicer package than the AMG GT cars, in my opinion.
Do I sense a little itch for a cool car purchase? Amazing choice. How have things been with you lately? Keeping busy?
@@ECPP interest rates are hurting us all in North America! More equity I can buy into the "grail" vehicle, the better! Definitely zeroed in on the 911 991.1S. the Lexus LC is lurking in the background, however. But I do like the Jaguars.
"Health is wealth", never more true. But I'm waiting for after the election to see interest rates go down. Hopefully!
Keep up the videos! Great to see the Channel grow!
Thank you so much and I agree, with some things happen lately, its even more clear about how health and family matter most. With that said, I really appreciate your support and its great to see that you have a passion for cool cares as I do. All great choices. The Porsche 911 is probably the best long term answer especially considering resale, and a 991 is an amazing car. First generation is likely the best holder from an enthusiast perspective and the generation 2 adds a punch factor that is intoxicating. Hope spring has finally sprung there Thomas.
Doe any other manufacturer use both port & direct injection?
Great vid.
That 1st one I owned four years. I bought it in 2020 not one issue. Traded it in for a 2024.
That sounds like a solid experience as most people have in these new generationa
wow - great tips (this vid and your others)! I think you've talked me out of an Alfa for a Lexus especially because of accessible service and parts (ala sharing with Toyota). little more money but definitely will retain value unlike the Guilia. thanks!
I hope I was of help. Thank you.
Lexus is the first and last I think of in terms of out of warranty. Toyota is really unmatched for the other 99% of the population.
That’s fair
Toyota and bmw both worked on this engine, so Toyota helped them reach the top 😏🔥
Question. How are the W213 E300s holding up?🎹🎶
I have a 2010 E350 4Matic now I’m liking the Lex IS350 FSport I kind of want A GS350 FSport are they reliable?
What year is the BMW 540i on this video? do you think the BMW 530i is reliable as well?
Probably 2021 or 2022 or 2023!
Nice new look!
Thank you! Cheers! In which way. I have changed a few things.
i just want to preface by saying i've been binge watching your videos for the past few weeks as I am currently looking for my next vehicle. particularly the 5 series. in my area, there are alot of CPO 530i's (b48). would these be considered a safe buy? i found some with less than 20k miles and i dont drive daily as i work from home. please let me know your thoughts, thanks
That is awesome!, yes the 2018 and newer 530 or 540 cars are fairly solid and if you are miling it out, it should be quite solid and having the CPO is good to at least some peace of mind and confidence for awhile that it will good to own for awhile.
I'm still driving my 2009 MBenz E300 Avantgarde, had it for 9 years now, very minor issues but what a beautiful and solid made vehicle. Keeping it for a bit longer.
Thanks for sharing!
QX60-80..Q50 Q60 INFINITI are very Reliable! also!
Agree. 2017 Infiniti QX70 with 95,000 miles w/ 325 HP Naturally aspired 6-cylinder engine has been totally problem free. This was the last year of the this model too.
190k on my 2018 g90
Had to do a couple injectors that's it. We'll maintained overall.
Still drives and smells new.
Sounds good. Glad to has been largely trouble free .
I just picked up a 2020 E450 w low miles and a little bit of warranty left but you bet I am buying MB extended warranty. It's a fntastic car all around but wow so many things to go wrong.
I'll always like the W212 as well as the W211, and W210 styling🎹🎶
I would never buy a twin turbo car they cost an absolute fortune to repair especially BMWs😅😮
Does the late model IS350 not have a 6 speed transmission?
My Mercedes Benz 2016 E400 is so unexpectedly reliable
i have owned: honda, suzuki, volkswagen jetta and audi, and lexus is hands down the absolute best….the other manufacturers do make great vehicles but lexus has never given me any issues
That’s fair. Thanks for sharing
Acura Tlx type S- 2022 has issues with steering wheel humming noise and navigation system not working.
I had a 2016 CLA 250 I miss that car
One thru 10 I'd day Lexus, and then number 11 would be Toyota Avalon. Oh, and I drive an old BMW e46 and love it.
13:16 FYI Volvo S90L, marketed in the US as S90, are Chinese made. They are sold predominantly on the US and Chinese market.
That’s fair. Still better than most non S and RS models
FYI…the IS350 AWD comes with 6 speed transmission, only the RWD versions comes with 8 speed transmission. It is too bad, all the RWD V6 models only available in US and not in Canada.
Yes thanks for dropping a line
Man I just sold my 2020 es 350 with 29 on it but I’m looking at the bmw 540xi thanks for making me feel good about my next purchase
Any time!
I would love to have almost any Lexus, but not the BMW or Mercedes, well I wouldn't own a BMW outside of warranty
Yes I would say Lexus is going to be the most reliable but there are many other fun, great drives, that offer some nice driving and style while maybe only giving marginal levels of durability. Lexus is top for downright reliability.
According to your highly regarded opinion, you need to trade the Jaguar in towards the LC500 and call it done!
Haha, I have considered it, but the F Type is too much fun
Im looking into getting a 2020+ 540i this confirms it, I think ill go with the 540i over the M550i
It’s a great combo
what troubles does the lexus turbos have?
Wastegates
FWIW I'd never buy any post-2000 German brand, unless it was a brand new company car that would only be mine for 2-3 years. Given the experiences of many of my friends/colleagues they seem almost guaranteed to self-destruct the instant they exceed 100,000km and/or the warranty period. In comparison my two Alfas (with a combined age of 65 years and about 500,000km on the clock - of which my 22yo daily driver accounts for almost 300,000km) have been fantastic to own and drive. But then again, I live in Australia, where we are blessed with multiple independent Alfa specialist (non-dealer) workshops that have been in business for decades, which even new car buyers can use without voiding their warranty.
What’s the oldest cars an aftermarket warranty will offer a warranty to ? 3 years old , 7 years old ?
I wouldn’t buy a new BMW unless I planned to get rid of it in no more than three years so you couldn’t give me a used BMW because I would have to hit the lotto in order to keep it running. Those of you knocking Lexus’ obviously has never experienced having a car that you don’t have to chose between your mortgage and repairing your BMW
Great point and many luxury cars can be massive value but one should think about warranty or extended warranty and whether you are a good DIYer
All I drive is Lexus have owned several and literally never had an issue but The BMW's with the B48 and B58 engine inline 6 has proven to be a great engine it's in the Toyota Supra. Not saying drive it 200k like a Lexus but they have broven to be very good
Mostly agree here, but keeping that Porsche maintained will cost you an arm and both legs. Runner up would be any Infiniti with the 3.5 or 3.7 V6 and 6/7-speed transmission; they are virtually indestructible.
Nice
Just the video I need 😅
Thanks for watching. Any favourites?
What’s your thoughts about the e300 2018 and up ?
Nice to look at, great tech, and light engine but a little fragile
@@ECPP thanks so the 530 are better ?
It all come down to maintaining your maintenances.
Yes that helps
You're beautiful! My Merc still going strong! Looking rugged!
Not sure why Lexus would have the Nike logo next to the lights? Did Lexus buy Nike or vice versa??? 😂😂
The bmw 330i with the b48 is rock solid. Toyota approved with the amazing ZF transmission
Great engine, also the b58 but its everything around the engine that’s made of plastic and made to fail when the warranty is up
What? No Ford? You can expand the list, just put a link to CarShield and say Ice -T referred you, LOL
Haha nice
Yeah, I had to do a double take that the Genesis is or is not a British brand when I saw it the first time.
Those range Rovers behind the g70 r the dream. Don't care bout reliability
WIth the Volvo S90 - you want to stay out of 17/18 as that was the start of the Scalable Architecture. Like many cars the first 2-3 years of new designs has .... quirks that need to be worked out. Most of the 19+ have a lot less potential issues.
If you put the Genesis G70 in there, even if it's not a luxury car per say, i would put the Kia Stinger in there.
Nice
Nice
Cheers
What is the most reliable convertible Mercedes
2020+ BMW M340I FTW HANDS DOWN!!! bmw says its 380hp no its more like 420+
although these are reliable but be aware it will bankrupt you when it comes to maintenance. unless you know how to do maintenance yourself. parts could be very expensive to buy as well. and that includes Lexus.
Yes luxury means extra money for things that are not totally necessary
If you go bankrupt over a car, you should buy a moped to fit your budget. 😂
Don’t get the VolvoS90, get the S60 instead. I had one. Very few issues.
Nice
“Gorgeous looking unit”. 😂
The Acura TLX is plagued with gremlins! Brother bought one as a gift for family member and it stays in the shop!!! It’s getting sold as soon as it comes out the shop for the 5th time!
Yikes that’s not good. Hope it gets a bit better
Which one did you get and was it new or used?
Brother outdoes AI with his eyes closed ❤❤
Thanks
Planning on buying a BMW M340I you’ll think that car is reliable ? Would love to have a BMW but scared of the reliability lol
Get it, you won't regret it. It's very easy to work on and the b58 engine with a Zf trans is amazing thats why toyota put this engine and trans into the supra
So no recommendation for the Lexus RX as a reliable car?
They are a very reliable SUV
I thought for a second - before you showed the 911 - that you skipped the RX (that's an RX I think) because of something 😁 It's a shame that they are almost non existent in the country I live in - only german cars, mostly VWs. Somehow people do not like/buy any japanese cars here
Oh yay. I have a Volvo I'm thinking of changing out. The Porsche is a bit much $ for me. I have considered bmw but it's hard with bmw to know what is good and what is junk. Volvo is China now. 😪
"And Bob's your uncle?" Which Lexus is a souped up Lexus? The 350?
ISF and RCF or LC500
Guys 😂 notice he farts while giving info 06:19 minutes on the video 😂
Well….
What about the Infiniti Q60 ?
What about it? They suck ass and are pure junk.
Pass.
It's my car yay only mine is Sliver 😂
The car care nut can help you with Lexus
Cheers
The Acura/Honda 3.0L has a single turbo, not twin turbo.
Thanks
So where are the luxury cars because all of those less the Lexus don't qualified Accua hasn't had a luxury car since the Legend
There is a lot more to the performance of a vehicle in the long term than simply an engine that will run for a few hundred thousand miles. Everyone seems concerned with that only. A car gets old aand loses it's drive quality as the miles pour on. Suspension parts wear, the car loses its, shall we say, tight feel.
That’s a fair comment
Honda came first. That is big brother.
Not sure that was a fair comparison between the Ark and good cars. I may depend on one to get around. The future on humanity dependent on the other. But I get the picture.
Genesis is copying the Bentley badge
Yes they seem to be
Most of these I agree with, but Volvos are not what they once used to be. They are at the bottom of the list for reliability.
Yes I agree they are sliding and a nice alternative but not with a Lexus or even a newer BMw
Volvo is not even a luxury brand.
I guess current x5 is not one of them
Well….
@@ECPP not even the B58 one, huh
Isn’t E class the most relaible Mercedes model?
