Hi Martin - Very interesting RSD video. Lovely Blur record. I think I might have to track down the Patti Smith CD and Galactic Nightmare. I like I'd like to see a rift in the space-time continuum!

Martin, I recently picked up that Blur reissue so I was shocked to see it on RSD. I love that album, it is my favorite Blur. I played that CD to death. Still love it

It's their best all rounder album. It encapsulated Britpop and that generation too. Damon went onto Gorillaz and could have a go at anything he's that gifted. I've got A good the bad & the queen album too that's pretty decent.

Hi Martin. Some cool finds for RSD 24!! I picked up three CD's for a quid - Tangerine Dream 'Electronic Meditation' (Sanctuary), 'Wild Eyes And Tender Lips: Pye Rock 'n' Roll Volume 1' (Sequel), and 'Golden Crest Instrumentals Featuring The Wailers' (Ace), all with excellent liner notes. I could have gone for Lowell George's RSD album at nearly £60 (I have an original copy anyway), but I decided to save my money and eventually buy 180 brilliant CDs instead ... The 'Parklife' track which really grates for me is 'Girls And Boys' ... Kid Ory is one of the pioneers of jazz ... Alan Jefferson's 'Galactic Nightmare' caught my eye. Comedian Richard Herring picked it as one of his six best albums in a Daily Express article back in 2018.

A treat once in a while but 180 CDs better perchance. Girls and boys overplayed? I've the 12" PSB remixes and it's fairly similar to original. Galactic Nightmare was on fellow comedians' Stewart Lee radar he's on the sleeve notes too. Of course they worked together yonks ago. For a leftie I like Stewart Lee because he's observations, sarcasm and pedantics are across the board and no one is safe. He's just wettingly hilarious and it makes you think too.

@@Thevinylscavenger I'm all in on the Pet Shop Boys at the moment ... I didn't like 'Girls And Boys' even before it was over-played ... That's interesting about Stewart Lee - another music obsessive.

Seeing the Lebanon / Liban album is one example out of many that makes your new buys videos so interesting Martin. Excellent backstory on the Galactic Nightmare album. An interesting RSD and other update. I never saw that Patti Smith album today at Newbury Comics. Did they release it on vinyl too? Or just the CD pressing? Another question. Did you see the Morrissey/Siouxsie Sioux 12" release for "Interlude" at RSD today? It was only being released in the UK. Not here in crazy America. Thanks for sharing them all~

If on my travels I see the Morrissey/Siouxsie I'll get it. Patti Smith for CD car playing does me not sure but vinyl would probably be pricey. Do you do RSD there? Is Newbury comics your local shop?

I'm more interested in a pop-up shop finds video than an RSD finds video Martin so please continue, I'm still watching...I should probably get Parklife on some vinyl variant. Nice Trunk find, not aware of that album. Libyan album looks interesting. Yes your videos are interesting to me...cheers Dale

Thank you Dale. I think my points came across ok without going on about it. Likewise your videos. RSD is not so interesting to me maybe it's a bit too formal for me queuing too. Life can be all about queuing particularly being British. That trunk is fascinating and the one guy in Hull took 6-7 years to make my kind of ethos and dedication. Middle eastern music is fascinating and probably where alot of our western string based instruments came from.

I went to Mold earlier to meet with a fellow V.Cer at a record fair, we got some bits from there, then I went to a shop that was selling RSD stuff, first time I've been to shop that does it ,on the actual day, U2 12 inch was not there so no RSD this year.

Juanita Hall, Kid Ory, Big Bill Broonzy, and Juanita Hall with Jimmy Witherspoon! That's incredible bargain digging. I will need to send you a merit badge. (Now that I've typed this, I'm not kidding. Should we form a mystical order of record diggers? The Knights of Omaha, in honor of the great Nebraska digger that is on a long, indefinite hiatus?)
As usual, there were RSD releases that looked appealing, but I hate the manipulative marketing. I still stand firmly against manufactured scarcity. We're talking about plastic circles, not DeBeers diamonds. Good grief. Then they expect you to line up before dawn with a crowd of Taylor Swift fans? No thanks. I prefer crate/shelf digging.
    Cheers,
    Jacob

Moi Martin, just catching very delayed your rsd video. Lot of things here where to stick, I would have bought Wuorinen and that Masik Janos is perhaps also good and of course the LibiaLebanon one, the instrument collage works on that one. Almost went to store at rsd day, there would have been dj and some light refreshments. Cozy video with no edits or cuts but with drills and slurps, Cheers.

That Jacques Brel's Amsterdam single is a pretty good find! David Bowie made an excellent cover version of it in the early 70s. Also a Finnish artist Hector (do you know him?) made a cover version of it in Finnish in 1990.

You are probably right about the Blur one as I didn't research. The pros and cons of RSD are too numerous to mention so someone else can debate this time. It develops into a them and us (or us and them) situation. Congratulations are in order for Pompey promotion? So will you be playing Southampton again twice remains to be seen.......

A " rift" in the space- time continuum. The Trunk title sounds intriguing and a man after your own heart by the sounds of things Martin.
I wish Trunk titles weren't quite so limited in terms of pressings, you have to get in quicker than Ussain Bolt.
Nice Jacques Brel Amsterdam, always loved Bowies' rendering of that one.
Images is a nice Walker Brothers album.
Kris Kristoferson would team up with Hedley and they'd play country music jukebox.
Nice non- RSD video, i say that because my regular independent never participates and most of the time there aren't any titles i'm interested in anyway.

@@Thevinylscavenger I'm sure you can remember when used records had a status much the same as used CDs have now. Nobody wanted them in the late 80s/90s. When history repeats itself, those Brit Pop CDs will be as precious as LPs are now. It's hard to imagine, I know, but nobody saw the Vinyl revival coming, not even the industry insiders, that's why they demolished so many of the old pressing plants. Trust me, run of the mill Brit Pop CDs will be fetching fifty quid a pop eventually.
