  • Well a bit of a ramble then I just ended up going through a crate of 7"s. Something different than all these tags now at least.

    From Right Said Fred to Sandie Shaw to Prince to Tiny Tim. That was a total smile. I really enjoyed seeing them all. If that crate/box of singles could talk it would be raving about your widespread eclectic tastes in all genres. Thank you for sharing them Martin~

      Hey Rob, I don't know how big singles chart is there in US (Kasey Casem?) is it more a tool to promote albums? Here was a very big thing related to Top of the Pops and growing up. Soon be the spring here we only had one or two weeks really bitter cold with wind and slippy weather. Hope things are OK with yourself?

    I have around 250+ pcs of international pop/disco hits. Not many same than in your 7" box.

    • @Thevinylscavenger
      @Thevinylscavenger  8 месяцев назад +1

      Quality. Often the pop charts UK to mainland Europe have/are very different and often I've thought European country charts better as UK is either cheesy or more American influenced. Nice to compare.

      @@Thevinylscavenger I could do video or videos with all my international 7"s. When I collected it searched hit singles only, but ofcourse there are many bought, because found cheap. It would be easy do 80s party with hits only.

    It's probably just becasue it's "exotic" for me, but I like the English 7" records with the various ways the center hole appears, not just the big hole that you see on pretty much all American singles on major labels.

    Good selection of 7" singles. Something for everyone. It's the perfect remedy for the tags. Enjoy the rest of the week. Steve

      Phew that was a busy week but today I'll get some vinyl time. 7"s are just more fun in a way aren't they? Hope I can make next month to meet up again with everyone.

    Love it Martin. I just can’t go down the 7” rabbit hole. Enough trouble with an album addiction, but I live vicariously through your collection. Cheers mate.

    A great DJ set with all the hits in that box Martin...Sorted chronologically it seems, interesting...

      I didn't notice but that's reassuring there must be some kind of order in my head. I've few other boxes of singles to go through at sometime. BTW I've already read the BBC singles book they were well worth it such a bizzare mixture of releases, thanks again for the tip off.

    ‘….the guy with the chin just needs a slap’ classic 😂 but I do agree, and Robson is slightly less annoying. I’m a big fan of Ricky Gervais but I thought on the road was rubbish. That was one eclectic box of singles. From classic essential to deeply embarrassing and all in between 😂 Final Countdown I never need to hear again. Still think Loveshack is brilliant. Nice Martin! Thanks for the video. I really love seven inch records and it’s a absolute shame they ignore the format nowadays. It’s only LP’s while I should buy a lot of singles from the top 40 even now.

    • @Thevinylscavenger
      @Thevinylscavenger  8 месяцев назад +1

      I don't suppose they make them for many artists now? Taylor Swift and few indie bands. I got some of my music put into some for about ten pounds per copy which was pretty reasonable and a nice memory.

      @@Thevinylscavenger there are some 7 inches you can buy in the webshops on the artist website but very limited. Recent 7 inch I’ve bought was the latest from Loreen.
      Purple disco machine release almost al their hits on 12 inch single.

    Nice selection of 45s, Martin! 👀 Especially the stuff from the 90s is worth it to mention!
    You have many singles that not only I've been hoping to find for years and you have some singles I didn't even know I was missing.

      @mrjape71 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Thevinylscavenger That's a very good question. I have a little list of some singles that I would like to have. Maybe I could mention 3 of them... 🤔
      BILLY IDOL -" Dancing With Myself" (it doesn't matter which pressing)
      SPRINGSTEEN, BRUCE - "Born In The USA" (studio version)
      DIRE STRAITS- "Brothers In Arms"
      Those have been though ones trying to find here in Finland. Might be easy to find in the UK who knows.
      If you happen to find any of those 👉 great and if not then the search continues!
      Thank you very much for offering your help!
      Are you looking for any specific 45s that I might help you to find?
      CHEERS!

    • @Thevinylscavenger
      @Thevinylscavenger  7 месяцев назад +1

      I'll definitely keep a lookout for you on those, as for myself I like finding 90s ones especially where the single is enough and don't want the whole album. There's quite a few of those but none cone to mind ATM.
      As you know also any weird spoken word, bizzare, private press ones which sometimes I sample for my own amusements.
      I don't know what you'd find in Finland really if anything specific. Hoping to come in the summer again but always turns into rushed seeing my in-laws (though nothing wrong in that) a day in Helsinki I can easily fill in time checking out flea markets and shops, everytime I go back things have slightly changed. Same with Seinäjoki too there are few places and think there's still a dedicated shop there.

    The David Brent movie wasn't half as good as The Office, but the songs were excellent. "Lady Gypsy," the song and the music video, is a perfect parody. It could pass as unironic performance art at our local Renaissance festival.

      Hi Jacob, yes it's a good album I don't have it but the song about native Americans was particularly moving. Gervais is an interesting character despite his atheism he's very funny about religion though he won't be laughing in the next life. Maybe I need to stop joining in the humour?

    • @DallasOpenMicr
      @DallasOpenMicr 8 месяцев назад +1

      Ricky can be very funny, but he misses the mark quite a bit. I struggled through all three seasons of After Life out of curiosity. It was saccharine and clumsy, in addition to being bleak. @@Thevinylscavenger

      @@DallasOpenMicr we watched first series and it made us think about death then didn't bother anymore with the rest (lightweights I hear you cry) just couldn't be bothered. I liked Extras at the time but not so bothered now. I think to rewatch the original office sometime but we rarely watch DVDs in fact we are going through a non TV phase bar for me my little bit of 'soccer' fix.

    Hi Martin. That’s a quality box if 7”. I won’t have a word said against Russ Abott’s “Atmosphere”. Not so sure about the Jim’ll Fix It theme tune though…

    • @Thevinylscavenger
      @Thevinylscavenger  8 месяцев назад

      I won't either John though the B-side to atmosphere is called 'thoughts of a child' which in light entertainment maybe needs to be CRB checked first.
