I have got one payed just over £1,000 for it only 2 lady owners 05 plate and only 40,000 miles on clock. lovely car to drive, no problems with it, brill heaters...even in winter you could sit in it in a vest as it gets real hot inside :) x
The 1.6 8valve Rocam engine in these has better torque, better quality alloy head, iron block and a timing chain. It might not be as smooth, as eco, as nippy as the 1.6 Zetec SE but it does have its own benefits. Engine is still being used in Brazil.
These are very cheap way in to 2 seat drop top motoring now and I suspect they are quite fun, a decent enough steer and cheap to maintain. Sure it isn't perfect but then again (Though not in the same league) , the MR2, SLK, of same era also rust, and the Toyota has oil consumption issues and rear suspension rotting prob. Mx5 demand more money for a proper UK model, Z3, Alfa spider, 206cc, barchetta and MG TF probably also have many probs. Daihatsu copen are pricey now, suzuki capucinos are too rare. Tigras have engine camshaft issues.
It's a great lil roadster, but not so good for fuel ecconomy and maintenance as others have pointed out. Interior is a bit cheap to say the least and what the silly excuse for a glove box is I've no idea. It's a fun to drive car though, well mine was. Ford could've done much better than just attempt to ring the last signs of life out of the Ka line (even though the StreetKa and SportKa are more Fiesta than Ka) and done a proper job of it .
Just bought a 2004 for sub £800 because the owner didnt know what the engine fault was and didnt tell me - lucky I have an OBDII tester - £17 and a new Lambda sensor and its worth £1500 now - this is a common fault as is the alarm going off all the time and if your Lambda sensors are knacked then is will suck fuel even worse than it does normally (which is a lot 30mpg if you are lucky). I have heard it described perfectly as a PREGNANT ROLLERSKATE - Roflmao
***** Nice price but i bet the rear suspension is rotten , alarm faults with the hood, fuel pump is crap, thermostat is cheap rubbish - i wish i hadnt bought it now its just the same as the ordinary Ka's a bit of a rusty old turd! Lol I call it the Pregnant Rollerskate!

Ka rust affects these. They are fun enough to ride although interior is very small.
They have put a blue tint lense on the camera... even the street lights are blue.
