      Update… it’s almost 8 weeks now. 31 lbs are gone. I hit a plateau and came back for help… yep, needed to step up the intermittent fasting and that got me going again. Ketosis reacquired! I am feeling great as you can imagine… March 22 was the last time I had any form of sugar. I have seen healing in my body in several areas from the change in diet. I’d like to encourage others to stick with it. Maybe we all can meet for coffee someday and put butter in it! What a riot !🤪

    I find in talking to people that the sleep factor is greatly underestimated. Some find it hard to believe that sleep is a factor at all. Personally, I can see a difference in my fasting blood sugar based on how much sleep I got the previous night, and whether it was good quality sleep. I'm not sure why, but my blood sugar generally goes up when I walk, even while fasting. That may mean that my insulin resistance is not completely reversed as of yet. No problem! I'll just keep at it. After all, it has improved incredibly already. Keep up the good work, Kait! Love your videos!

    All I can say is Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I have been suffering for years w this. I has absolutely no clue what it really was I was dealing with. I've now suffered from extremely high blood pressure starting at only 33, I just found out I am now type 2 diabetic, I suddenly gained weight and I've had no clue why bc I didn't understand or think I was eating poorly. I was avoiding sugar, and soda and eating lower calories..but I was eating almost all carbs I realize now. And I was diagnosed w insulin resistance, handed some medication, and basically none of this was ever explained to me. I have learned more from your videos in the last 20 mins than in the last 16 years of going to doctors. I can't believe it. I can't express to you how greatful I really am to u. I kept asking myself why this was happening. How it was all related to each other. I just felt so lost.. thank u

    Love this video...I am doing many of the things you mentioned already and they have helped a lot .1) I don't eat breakfast because I was never hungry in the morning anyway. 2) eat first meal like a brunch at ab.12pm. 3)go to bed earlier Ab.12AM. 4)Increased protein. I will start taking a walk after eating and will work on muscle building. And will eat the carbs of the meal last. Great tips. Forgot!!! No soda, no juice, even watered down juice is bad. Worse, juice with fake fructose. It is the way it goes into your blood stream that is bad.

      @@HealthCoachKait Question in this video you mentioned insulin resistance is caused by diet and exercise. I just want to clarify that it doesn't ever have a genetic cause. I'm asking because I had PCOS early in my teen years and I was a very active teen but still had PCOS symptoms from about 15. I do have a very strong family Hx of Diabetes every one on my Dad side of the family were diagnosed in their early 30s. Let me know, just wondering. I'm not diabetic but have all the signs of insulin resistance.

    • @HealthCoachKait
      @HealthCoachKait  2 года назад +1

      @@N-LeeSonSay you can be genetically predisposed, yes, but that doesn't mean you will develop it. Genetics load the gun, diet and lifestyle pull the trigger.
      Is it possible you could have been experiencing athletic amenorrhoea? Assuming one of your PCOS symptoms was irregular periods. It isn't uncommon for teens to develop PCOS unfortunately. It is becoming more and more common 😓

      @@HealthCoachKait I'm 40 now and I was considered overweight even when I was a teen and walking home everyday which was about 5 k and dancing practice 3 times a week and drama and swimming. I'm not sure if that make would make for athletic amenorrhea, I wouldnt have though of it because the girls I knew who had athletic amenorrhea were stick thin. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Who knows. I wasn't diagnosed until in my 20 s before that no one thought it strange that I had irregular periods. I'm now still battling the insulin resistance. But thanks to the inspiration of your videos I started my keto diet last week. It was a rough start. Keto flu is a real thing and I have a physically demanding job. But this week is better. Praise God. Thank you for your videos they are a blessing to me. I feel hopefully because of them.

Weight loss plateaued for a few weeks so just did a two-week break from IF and "diet", but still watched my carbs - gained about four pounds back, but not too terrible. Hi Kait,
    I just wanted to leave a comment and say thank you for your videos. I have had a hard relationship with being an emotional eater over the years, and being a heavy drinker on top has led to a very very unhealthy and unhappy self. Prior to this pandemic I made a life style change to adapt the Carnivore way of life. Now a big push for this was not just the health benefits of weightless ect, but unfortunately due to many years of head injuries through sport at what was once thought to be early onset Alzheimer’s at 34, now at 37 is being reassessed for CTE. A big part of the health benefits to the Carnivore lifestyle is the fatty aminos which are great for the brain, but with the lack of meat in the early days of the pandemic what I did have in my freezer I shared amongst family who couldn’t get any meat. Now I promised myself that at the end of the pandemic I would commence the life style once again, but unfortunately the will power over time dissipated, I started the process again but found that I wasn’t as satisfied as I was previously, at the moment feeling as though I’ve hit a plateau, exploring the possibilities of possibly being a bit insulin resistant and adapting the Keto life style with the thought that over time I can try my hand again at Carnivore.
    When researching about Carnivore/Keto life style choices , food ideas and just general knowledge I have always found your videos to be insightful and very informative, as its not something a GP will generally encourage to do it can be daunting for some. So thank you for what you do! It is greatly appreciated.
    Stace.

    This is an interesting video however I would like to clarify the incomplete protein portion for legumes and beans (as I am starting to follow an ayurvedic diet). According to my research most plant protein does contain all nine essential amino acids but in varying amounts. So it is important to eat a variety of plant foods to get the amino acids we need. As for carbs and insulin resistance there is evidence that a plant-based diet rich in dietary fiber, plant protein unsaturated fats, antioxidants and low GI foods can help prevent & treat type 2 diabetes. This is because fibre slows down the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream and helps regulate blood glucose levels. Interested to hear your thoughts on this.

    This is a great video. However, I do have one question, I don't always have time to take a walk or it may be to late/cold after I eat the last meal of my day, Could I ride a stationary bike? and for how long to get the same benefits as walking. Thanks for all your videos they are truly a lifesaver.

I'm losing so much hair and i cant figure out how to stop it, help it, or find the root cause? is it my hormones? my pcos? what.. its getting scary.

    Hi Kait - 30gm of protein each meal? How many grams of food is that? 150gm steak? This is the part that confuses me the most. Can you do a visual video? Such as the size/gms of protein on a plate. What 30g of Protein looks like. No one has done this.
    And what vegetables do you eat the most of?

      In general, it's about a palm sized serve of meat 🥰 So a chicken thigh, small steak, 5 eggs, 2 tins of fish, etc.

      I will do a video though. I have several videos on the best low carb vegetables! Basically anything non-starchy is best but, as mentioned in the video, something like sweet potato could be eaten at the end.

    Thank you so much for your great and clear advice. You are helping me to improve my health in an efficient and realistic way! I have a question though: I noticed that every time I manage to reduce my carbs, my nails become very fragile (and I'm a guitarist so I need them). Would you know why? I eat greek yogourt, cheese and I think I should be ok in terms of calcium intake. I could not help but notice as it's been repeating...

    Not all skin tags are due to insulin resistance. I was told by dermatologist that certain skin types are more prone to them, like pale skin that freckles easily. Also that friction on skin can cause them. I developed a lot of them on neck after wearing a particular scarf all winter.

    • @HealthCoachKait
      @HealthCoachKait  Год назад +2

      This is unfortunately a misconception. All skin tags are caused by IR. If they aren’t, then they aren’t skin tags and could be a mole or something else.
