My oldest son is in his early 20's and he has type 1 diabetes. But thank God for this piece of article ruclips.net/user/postUgkxVYhghKWmrUgXARZ_ydZTvmmcrw5L0I5i At first he thought he had the flu and was lying down on the bed for three days until his sister took him to the hospital. I was diagnosed with this a few weeks back but turns out I've had fairly useless doctors as I've had symptoms for years (including when I was very slim - BMI of 19) but I always noticed that if I slacked off at all with eating/exercise I'd gain weight around my stomach but nowhere else. I changed jobs but still ate under my supposed metabolic weight but gained about 40kg in 4-5yrs (30 of that in 3yrs). Again doctors would always focus on my iron which was chronically low and just said regarding insulin to just eat well and exercise which I was doing... finally a doctor took it seriously and with no change to life style and just Metformin (because I have been eating well and exercising a lot) I've dropped 2kg in 2 weeks which I never could and just maintaining was hard.
Thank you for more information as I never knew so many of the symptoms I've had for years but no one took me seriously

I have not checked all of you uploads, but I recommend talking about skinny fat people. I know quite a few people that are tiny - 100 to 120 lbs thereabouts - and have full on diabetes. They drink a lot of Starbucks, never seem to gain weight, can fit any outfit they choose, and are diabetic, on medication, have unknowingly high blood pressure or recently found out that they do, and look fit a a fiddle. I write this because people usually start with the height to weight ratio and pictures of overweight people, but that lulls people falsely into tuning out the rest of the message. SKINNY FAT, now that's a topic.

I have most of these symptoms and have had some of them for most of my life (60 yrs old). Even when I was skinny my hip to waist ratio was like a straight line. I've always had irregular periods if at all (no children) and I've had skin tags for at least 40 years. My body is constantly inflamed and I am in pain all day everyday. Last fall I started the keto to reduce the inflammation. It helps and I've lost 30lbs but, I am still in pain and my left foot still swells at the ankle and always hurts.
How come no Dr ever told me that I may be insulin resistant when I was younger? I could have avoided all of this. It's as if the Drs want us to be sick.

My doctor told me, "You're FINE! NO sign of diabetes!" My HBA1C was literally just ONE point away from the "orange" zone. Which would be prediabetes. I knew better, so I took it into my own hands. I check my HBA1C at home every 3 months, check my blood sugar regularly and have taken dietary improvement measures.
***EDIT*** Because the question is frequent in the comment thread I will add this. If you would like to check your HBA1C (AKA A1C call it which ever you choose here, they are the same thing) levels at home you can usually find the test kits at the drug store. I usually order from CVS. These come in a two pack. Everlywell has one more expensive and takes much longer to get results as it is mailed in. No matter the HBA1C (or A1C) test kit you use please be sure to follow directions EXACTLY so that you may get the most accurate results. If you want to keep a more regular check on your blood sugars you can also purchase a meter as well as the lancets and test strips. This can be a very good tool to check your progress as well as you make dietary changes. If you have an HSA account with your insurance you can usually use that to purchase these items. Just be sure to check the list of approved expenses beforehand. I check my fasting blood sugar daily. At the start it was between 110 and 119. Now it is usually between 89 and 105, with the majority of the readings being under 100. My starting HBA1C (A1C) was 5.5 and rose to a 5.7, which is when I began taking matters into my own hands at home since the doctor didn't see this as an issue. I hope this info is helpful.

This is very helpful, I'm extremely skinny and struggle to gain weight, but I do have 9 of the symptoms I felt or seen myself without seeing a doctor. I also have yeast overgrowth problems in my stomach and developed aczema out of no where and depending on what I eat, it irritates it. I was on a special diet to help with the yeast problem but unfortunately I lost 10 pounds and my normal weight is 80 pounds, so I had to stop the diet to gain my weight back. I was born with hormonal problem that I inherited from my mom, we both produce high levels of testosterone. She was skinny like me when she was younger, I'm still small in my 40's but I also haven't had cancers, gallbladder/kidney stones, or nor have children of my own, so I look extremely young and healthy looking when in truth been struggling since birth with health problems. I'm looking forward to looking more into insulin resistance.

“Anyway” is an adverb meaning regardless. Simply put, “anyway” without an S is correct. Always use it without the S. “Anyways” with the S is considered slang, and is a part of nonstandard, colloquial, or informal English. Furthermore, since “anyway” is an adverb and it is impossible for adverbs to be plural.

A couple years ago, I decided to change my lifestyle because of my arthritis. I have yo-yo'd in weight since then and could never control it. I found KETO in 2018 and had lost 45 pounds and kept it off for 3 years. But now i'm struggling with sugar cravings and weight gain again. This vid helped to reconnect with that issue. My most prevalent symptoms are the sugar cravings belly fat and the skin tags. No doctor yet has helped just KETO so far.

i have all of them.. and yes, i've known I was Insulin resistant for 16 or so years at this point.. was diagnosed with PCOS and IR.. though I seriously think most of my doctors since then have ignored the IR portion of my dx ... just tell me to eat less and exercise more.. which we all know isn't actually helpful in this case as it doesn't actually address what is actually going on... I was actually losing weight when I first went on metformin and was making a lot of progress... and then I was in a car accident in 2007 which derailed everything and triggered some other issues and I've not been able to get things actually sorted since then and it was after that when they started ignoring my IR issues... (do have a new doc who is finally actually running tests and scans to figure out what is going on, so who knows... i do need to remind him about the IR though...) they do at least check my A1 regularly... (though that may be is because I have a HEAVY family history of diabetes on both sides....)

Now that I’m on essentially a carnivore diet, it’s not so bad, but on the high-carbohydrate diet still widely recommended for diabetics, it’s likely if not usual. My son (just turned 14) is T1 since age 3 and also struggles with weight. It went from him just being on the slightly chubby side to being overweight for his height when he went on insulin. He is at the age where he is suddenly self conscious about it, and while he is not huge (about 190 pounds and 5'11), he is much larger than his classmates. he eats the same diet as his brother (6'1 and 150 pounds) and sister (5'9 and 140 pounds) yet can so easily gain weight I have noticed. I wonder if he was born with my (insulin resistant, estrogen dominant) body type or if it's the insulin. He has always been tightly controlled (ie low A1C's but the requisite lots of insulin to attain it). I am thinking about trying full keto this summer on him, but was a little hesitant with DKA concerns, but since you do carnivore it clearly isn't an issue. Just thinking out loud!
