While I love my Harleys, I'm a motorcycle enthusiast all around. I think what Honda is doing with the Rebel line is definitely putting them in a winning position.

The mix of naked/cruiser of the Rebel line is PERFECT. It has the looks, the power, and the comfort of a cruiser without the extreme weight and lack of handling of a "real" one. Honda is doing something phenomenal with these bikes.

In spite of the fact I ride a more traditional cruiser, I'm still intrigued by this bike. I'll be stopping at my local Honda motorcycle dealer tomorrow to check it out. If the weather is okay, I may even take it for a test ride.
I kind of said it six months ago but given that, I actually test rode the Sportster S and pick mine up this week. Neither are a traditional cruiser. They are just good bikes. You can cross the country in a VW Beetle, a camper van is better to cross the country. The Rebel and Sportster S are like the Beetle, good and zippy, can do the range if needed but there is better to choose from if that is your thing.

I'm more of a cruiser fan myself, BUT I'm still getting the rebel 1100 as my 2nd bike because I just like the way it looks, and it'll be perfect for my girl to learn on, also I want variety in my motorcycle collection lol.

I've done a few 700-800 mile trips on mine, and it is a good jack of all trades fun bike, but I am thinking of getting a Gold Wing for the long trips to be more comfortable

Very good points you make about doing research before buying. If I had the money I would have several bikes depending on how I felt like riding that day. I do like the Rebel 1100 for the characteristics you mention.
Agreed! If money weren’t an issue I’d have a different bike for each different purpose, but since I’m broke, the Rebel 1100 will do just fine as my “do it all” bike! 😂🤘🏻
The vast majority or riders in VA and MD winterize their bikes and don’t touch them from November to April. I can’t put my babies away for all those months. If it’s above 45 degrees, I ride.

Since I got my 2022 Rebel 1100, that handling/maneuverability can be deceiving! Twice, I attempted two TIGHT turns (that I've done on Rebel 500 with no issues) at super slow speeds but laid it down because that weight suddenly shifts causing me to lose control. ZERO REGRETS upgrading but a hard lesson I had to learn!
Have to agree 100%, only own mine 3 weeks but after being on a dragstar for 4 years the rebel handles completely differently, corners a lot sharper and is easier to ride. Enjoying it so far but will need a wind shield for motorway speeds. I also love the power of the Africa twin engine.
I come from sport bikes and standards/naked bikes and I wanted something more relaxed with a lower center of gravity, but I didn't want a tank to ride. I still wanted it to be very capable. This and the Vulcan S were the perfect options for me. I went with this bike and it's awesome.
I'm between the Rebel 1100 and A Kawasaki Z900RS. I regrettably sold the Z I had in 2019 and i thought about grabbing another one however, now the Rebel has caught my attention; kind of leaning towards the Rebel...it ticks all the boxes for me.
I would love to have the 1100 as a second bike, but being 6' 5" tall and in the 280 lb range, I just can't see myself fitting on it. Frankly, an Indian Scout is like walking onto a Mini-Bike. My current bike is a Victory Vision Tour which has a 38 degree lean angle and is downright agile for it's size and weight, but it would be nice having a smaller and lighter knock around town motorcycle. I envy you average size folks. You nailed it well in this video, Burch!
The M109 and Concourse are the only 2 contemporary bike's even workably close to fitting. I ride a KLR650 because it was the only bike in the showroom with a flat seat so I can ride where the passenger would.

I think you nailed it here!! I agree with everything you said about this bike and that's why I just put a deposit down on one this weekend. Reminds me of a standard with a cruiser look....PERFECTION.
the bike targets people who are short, its seat is comfortable, the engine is slow to pick from low revs, the foot pegs position are unlikely to put a smile on your face if you over 5' 8" tall, the legs will suffer from cramp within a few minutes, someone aftermarket forward pegs will sort this out though. the handle bar position is little odd as it means a short rider must sit upright, so any benefit of cruiser style lazy seat is instantly lost. a nice bike but if over 5' 7" tall there are others they maybe with a closer look. nice movie
I would add, for the people looking to tour the country, that a big Sport Tourer like an FJR is actually waaaaaaay more comfortable than most cruisers for actual long rides. The straight upright position is much more comfortable after hours of riding than the laid back position. And you don't get numb hands from excessive V-Twin vibration. I was looking at the Indian Scout and Rebel 1100. I was leaning towards the Scout because it made me feel like I looked badass on it... but primarily because there were no Rebel 1100s around! I ended up getting lucky and finding a Rebel 1100 DCT and I'm super happy. The Scout does its job of being a slammed cruiser (and the Bobber goes even lower) that gives you that raw experience... but in the end, it's a bit too raw to be an only bike. It doesn't even have a fuel gauge! At $5,000 more than the Rebel 1100 with truly crappy stock suspension on the Scout, I am very, very happy I went with the Honda. IMHO, if the category still existed, the Rebel 1100 would be either a Standard or a UJM. However, those classifications kind of faded away and got merged into ADV or Sportbike for the more plastic-faired bikes (Versys, MT-09 Tracer) and Cruiser for the naked ones.
@@Anthony-ny8dg I don't know which one I *actually* looked cooler riding, but definitely *felt* cooler on the Scout. The Rebel is better in almost every way for actually riding than the Scout, unless you're extra, extra short. The default mode on the Scout feels more powerful than the default mode on the Rebel, but you can just flick the Rebel into "Sport" mode and it's just as powerful. The stock Scout sounds a little better, but nobody who cares about sounds leaves it stock. That said, I have not had an opportunity to ride a Scout with an upgraded suspension, which supposedly fixes the main problems. The stock Rebel 1100 suspension is adequate for my 280lb self, while the stock Scout suspension is not.
Absolutely confirm that the Rebel 1100 performs much more like a naked sportbike than a regular cruiser. Riding around my dad's Rebel 1100 DCT, I feel like that thing wants to throw me off my seat when snapping on the throttle. Really, I have a CB650R, and I feel like the rebel 1100 can pull off the line so much faster while I'm in the back winding up the inline 4! Haha.

I am hoping for maybe not "typical cruiser experience" 'cause I already have a bulky, old rusty Honda Shadow VT1100 2001 US version but I am hoping I will be able to do some roadtrips with my misses on this Rebel. Since I am from Europe I can't rly get my hands on any typical cruiser that would be brand new (except for Harley, but they are very expensive in EU). Hope Rebel will deliver a nice balance between fun city naked riding and highway duo roadtrip experience.
I def want one of these. Just picked up a VStar 1300 after not having a bike for 8 years. And I really like it, but I miss being able to flick the bike around like I could my sport bike back in the day. But I’ve had 2 back surgeries and have to prioritize comfort and riding position. After seeing your videos, I sat on a Rebel 1100 they had up at the dealer when I was getting my tire swapped for my 1300… and man it felt good. Maybe in a few years I can pick one up for a few grand and then have both bikes to use depending on what type of riding I’m doing.
I like this bike and think it's way better than the Indian. Forward controls are just awful. I actually bought a used Africa Twin and I love it. I think rider modes are overrated. I would put it in the most powerful mode and never change it. Been riding 50 years and never felt like I needed to dumb down the power on anything.
I agree that forward controls are awful, but I actually LOVE the rider modes! I’d love to have all the power all the time, but sport mode is VERY twitchy/snatchy at low speeds, so I set it to standard if I’m cruising through downtown or sitting in traffic. I’m sure once a company comes out with a fuel tuner for these things it’ll smooth all that out though and I’ll be able to keep it in sport with no issues around town 🤘🏻
Great review of why this thing is different. I've been wanting one but the price for it is kinda high and I've always been a more classic cruiser guy. Soooo instead I'm looking at the Kawasaki Vulcan 900 classic
Thanks man! The Vulcan 900 is definitely a sweet choice if you’re looking for a more traditional cruiser! My neighbor’s friend had one and she rode it cross country with no issues! Literally took it from here to the west coast and loved it 🙌🏻
For people who don't know Honda this is what they typically do. Like the CBR300R, CB300, and Rebel 300 share a lot of parts. They are not the same bike but they almost all try and be stander road bikes tuned to a specific application
My wife has the 500, 3rd summer coming up and I have my Heritage which I have had for 15 years.This week was time to drag the bikes out week and even though i have had the battery tender on the Harley I still wonder if its gonna fire up.Not so with the Honda.Never a doubt.It fires up like I been riding it all winter.Very dependable bike!
My first bike was a kawasaki vulcan S, traded that in for a yamaha fz 09 a couple years ago and as fun as the FZ is, I just miss the cruiser ergos man.. my next bike 100% is the Rebel 1100 though, literally everything I want in a bike
I got the same feeling about my rebel. More of a fun short ride around town, but if I did want to ride some place away from my riding area, I would put it on a trailer and bring it.
I'd say the Rebel 1100 is a Sportster 1200 with better reliability and liquid cooling. My Sportster is torquey as hell all the time and it wheelies no problem. It is an 883 with a big bore 1250 and a stage 1 tune so it gets you around 75-80hp which is about what a Rebel 1100 is and a 1250 will outrun a 2017 MT07 but lose on gearing when the MT overtakes at 140kmh and keeps going to 220kmh while I top out at 160kmh.
Your engine makes power. Your gears make torque. First gear makes a lot of torque and little speed. Sixth gear makes little torque and a lot of speed. The engine power doesn't change by changing the gear. What you are feeling is power to weight. Your bike may make less power at low rpm than an HD, but it weighs considerably less. Consequently, it accelerates a little faster.
Well Burch, what can I say.... The 1100 is a sport cruiser, emphasis on Sport...... It's a light cruiser like my Bolt, which Yamaha refers to as a Sport Heritage Cruiser. Me, I just call it a Naked Cruiser... Stay Safe, Ciao.
I really want one of these (the DCT version) but I would prefer belt drive because lack of maintenance so I have a question…. How often do you clean, lube and tighten your motorcycle chain? I hear different things, some say every 600 miles others say maybe once a year. I just want to know your opinion on this particular bike. Is it really necessary to do it every 600 miles?? I will never ride in the rain only on sunny days (I have a car for rainy days) I plan on making my decision by this weekend. Thanks 🙏 loved the video by the way. Thanks
I have a totally different bike (2019 MT07) but I'm definitely lacking in chain maintenance. Maybe a couple times a season. Hasn't caused any issues (yet 👀)

I like the parallel twin more there is a clearer separation to the firing pattern where v twins obviously get some overlapping sounds to their firing pattern

It all has to do with the crank. Harley is single pin at 45 degree cyl. My ACE 750 is a single pin. But 52 degree cyl. T burners are a twin with a 270 crank. Then theresy yours. It's a twin, but it has a 180 degree crank.
If you’re coming from the crotch rocket world to the cruiser world like I did, either the Indian Scout or the Rebel 1100 would keep you happy. The only reason why I opted for the Indian is because it has forward controls, which in my opinion makes it more comfortable. My girlfriend has a rebel 500. It’s a great bike, but thanks to the mid controls, it feels a bit sport bike cramped for me.
Its smfirst time i saw it i thought ducati monster. The more of it i see the more i want one i like the inline twin dosent sound like it wants to rattle apart
I'm of a similar mind. I wish they made it more of an upright naked bike. I would never own a Harley, just because that's not how I want people to see me, (and I would never spend that much money on a motorcycle). In fairness to Harley though, they are putting a lot more technology in some of the newer bikes, particularly the big touring bikes. If you really want a big heavy bike to get on and ride for a couple of thousand miles, and you don't mind paying $40,000 for it, Harley has never been a better choice.
If you can rent/borrow a Honda Shadow 750 side by side to this I think it would create a very clear visual for the comparison. Both hondas, both cruisers but different
Is actually for beginners, the only thing I would say is that if you’re thinking for long rides. Idk bro, I think there is other choices, my brother has one and is more like Going to work and back home bike. The reason why I say the long trips is because after an hour you gonna fell your ass falls off lol💀.

Well, it would be a Boring world if all bikes just fit neatly into categories 8). It’s a spectrum, going from sport cruisers, through baggers and touring, and out the other end to Muscle cruisers.
Hey, have you looked at the Depretto Moto forward controls? They are supposed to be more stable than the T-Rex Racing FC kit, but not adjustable. Do you think FC would be what is needed for long distance? Maybe with the Honda batwing fairing?

The rebel falls within the ranks of a Harley sportster or an Indian scout. Both are cruisers but are smaller and more nimble than traditional cruisers.
OK. First off the big bikes you keep referring too are not cruisers there tour bike, big difference. The rebel is a great bike to hold the title of cruiser cause it's not fast enough to be a sport bike yet not big enough to be called a tour bike, it just sits comfortably in the middle as a bike that's fun and comfortable to ride in and around town........... Cough though I would like to see it go a little more towards the sport/cruiser category and have the same power that the African Twin bike that the engine came from has.OK. This is getting to long so I'll stop it here lol.
I see you have your jacket and helmet listed in the description, but I’m more curious about your gloves. I live in Cleveland and it gets chilly. I bought a pair of gloves that are designed for snowmobile and other winter moto activity, but even in 45 degree weather, my fingers freeze after about 45 minutes of riding. I really want to stretch out my riding season, but I can’t do that if my hands are numb! What are you using?
I checked this out after a dealer suggested it. I live on a mountain and need a larger engine also take a lot of road trips. After watching this I’m not sure if it’s what I’m really looking for. Also looking at an Indian scout hoping someone sees this and gives me a suggestion :)
These light weight sporty "cruisers" are were it's at my bolt is v twin but it rips it's different then the other cruisers I'm been on. I can throw the bike thru a corner and iv had people on sport bikes say they never seen anyone ride a cruiser like that. I love ripping on them I'd like to try the rebel I'd imagine even tho different engines they are similar
First of all thanks for your vids man, I really appreciate them! One question: I wonder if I should switch over from my 2011 Fat Bob to the Rebel 1100 because I really like the sporty agility of the Rebel. My only concern is, if I can still do my multi day long range trips (350 - 450 km per day) with this bike (due to small gas tank and comfort). Can you also recommend it for that? Or do you see it more as a daily commuter and short range trip bike? Thanks an advance and keep on doing your thing man!
It absolutely still can do long trips! Will it be as comfortable and practical as your Fat Bob on those longer trips? Probably not. BUT the trade off is the sporty agility you’re looking for. This bike really feels like a “jack of all trades” kind of bike. As for the small gas tank, I get about 125 miles out of mine with my daily mixed riding, so you can expect a bit more on strictly highway trips. Not a huge number by any means, but it at least gives you a reason to get off and stretch every two hours 😂 Check out Quasimotard’s channel if you haven’t already! He took his Rebel 1100 on a 3,000 mile round trip to come to my meetup last year! On the way up here he knocked out over 1,000 miles in one day! 😳 He’s definitely a GREAT resource for any questions about the Rebel’s long distance practicality! Hope that helps 🤘🏻

I ride about 125 days to work (100km forth and back) where the agility will be great and do only one multi day trip a year for round about 3-4,000 km where I have the downside. The wind isn’t bad at all! The bike’s nice and stable even in stronger winds. After an hour or two at highway speeds I start to get some fatigue in my neck, but I’m sure a windscreen would easily solve that. I just haven’t found one I like yet!

Did 1000km round trip on my rebel 1100 and it felt like my ass was gonna fall off. Fun bike but not practical for long hauls
I'd call it a standard. Like the sportster, ftr, cb750 etc. I think Indian even lists the ftr as a standard. I would consider the scouts cruisers.

And my first bike will definitely be a Rebel (500 cause I’ll be a newby and that’s the max I can get in France and then I’ll upgrade to the 1100 or whatever the best offering is then)

Since I got my 2022 Rebel 1100, that handling/maneuverability can be deceiving! Twice, I attempted two TIGHT turns (that I've done on Rebel 500 with no issues) at super slow speeds but laid it down because that weight suddenly shifts causing me to lose control. ZERO REGRETS upgrading but a hard lesson I had to learn!
Not the fault of the bike, that's lack of rider ability with the friction zone

Have to agree 100%, only own mine 3 weeks but after being on a dragstar for 4 years the rebel handles completely differently, corners a lot sharper and is easier to ride. Enjoying it so far but will need a wind shield for motorway speeds. I also love the power of the Africa twin engine.

I come from sport bikes and standards/naked bikes and I wanted something more relaxed with a lower center of gravity, but I didn't want a tank to ride. I still wanted it to be very capable. This and the Vulcan S were the perfect options for me. I went with this bike and it's awesome.

I'm between the Rebel 1100 and A Kawasaki Z900RS. I regrettably sold the Z I had in 2019 and i thought about grabbing another one however, now the Rebel has caught my attention; kind of leaning towards the Rebel...it ticks all the boxes for me.
I just bought my Rebel 1100 today. Love the ride! Definitely not a traditional cruiser.
I would love to have the 1100 as a second bike, but being 6' 5" tall and in the 280 lb range, I just can't see myself fitting on it. Frankly, an Indian Scout is like walking onto a Mini-Bike. My current bike is a Victory Vision Tour which has a 38 degree lean angle and is downright agile for it's size and weight, but it would be nice having a smaller and lighter knock around town motorcycle. I envy you average size folks. You nailed it well in this video, Burch!
The M109 and Concourse are the only 2 contemporary bike's even workably close to fitting. I ride a KLR650 because it was the only bike in the showroom with a flat seat so I can ride where the passenger would.
Same size and close to weight of you... and figure that there has to be a way to make the Rebel 1100 work if only ridden solo.

from your description of a cruiser i was picturing a touring bike like a road king or gold wing. so i would say the rebel is a performance cruiser
the bike targets people who are short, its seat is comfortable, the engine is slow to pick from low revs, the foot pegs position are unlikely to put a smile on your face if you over 5' 8" tall, the legs will suffer from cramp within a few minutes, someone aftermarket forward pegs will sort this out though. the handle bar position is little odd as it means a short rider must sit upright, so any benefit of cruiser style lazy seat is instantly lost. a nice bike but if over 5' 7" tall there are others they maybe with a closer look. nice movie
I would add, for the people looking to tour the country, that a big Sport Tourer like an FJR is actually waaaaaaay more comfortable than most cruisers for actual long rides. The straight upright position is much more comfortable after hours of riding than the laid back position. And you don't get numb hands from excessive V-Twin vibration.
I was looking at the Indian Scout and Rebel 1100. I was leaning towards the Scout because it made me feel like I looked badass on it... but primarily because there were no Rebel 1100s around! I ended up getting lucky and finding a Rebel 1100 DCT and I'm super happy. The Scout does its job of being a slammed cruiser (and the Bobber goes even lower) that gives you that raw experience... but in the end, it's a bit too raw to be an only bike. It doesn't even have a fuel gauge! At $5,000 more than the Rebel 1100 with truly crappy stock suspension on the Scout, I am very, very happy I went with the Honda.
IMHO, if the category still existed, the Rebel 1100 would be either a Standard or a UJM. However, those classifications kind of faded away and got merged into ADV or Sportbike for the more plastic-faired bikes (Versys, MT-09 Tracer) and Cruiser for the naked ones.
But which one do you look cooler riding? Lol did you like the feel of the Scout better for short rides or still preferred the 1100?
@@Anthony-ny8dg I don't know which one I *actually* looked cooler riding, but definitely *felt* cooler on the Scout. The Rebel is better in almost every way for actually riding than the Scout, unless you're extra, extra short. The default mode on the Scout feels more powerful than the default mode on the Rebel, but you can just flick the Rebel into "Sport" mode and it's just as powerful. The stock Scout sounds a little better, but nobody who cares about sounds leaves it stock. That said, I have not had an opportunity to ride a Scout with an upgraded suspension, which supposedly fixes the main problems. The stock Rebel 1100 suspension is adequate for my 280lb self, while the stock Scout suspension is not.
Absolutely confirm that the Rebel 1100 performs much more like a naked sportbike than a regular cruiser. Riding around my dad's Rebel 1100 DCT, I feel like that thing wants to throw me off my seat when snapping on the throttle. Really, I have a CB650R, and I feel like the rebel 1100 can pull off the line so much faster while I'm in the back winding up the inline 4! Haha.
And thats why I have a 1980 XS1100 for fun, 2001 r1100rt for work and the beast K1200LT for long haul cruising in comfort...👍

I am hoping for maybe not "typical cruiser experience" 'cause I already have a bulky, old rusty Honda Shadow VT1100 2001 US version but I am hoping I will be able to do some roadtrips with my misses on this Rebel. Since I am from Europe I can't rly get my hands on any typical cruiser that would be brand new (except for Harley, but they are very expensive in EU). Hope Rebel will deliver a nice balance between fun city naked riding and highway duo roadtrip experience.
I def want one of these. Just picked up a VStar 1300 after not having a bike for 8 years. And I really like it, but I miss being able to flick the bike around like I could my sport bike back in the day.
But I’ve had 2 back surgeries and have to prioritize comfort and riding position. After seeing your videos, I sat on a Rebel 1100 they had up at the dealer when I was getting my tire swapped for my 1300… and man it felt good.
Maybe in a few years I can pick one up for a few grand and then have both bikes to use depending on what type of riding I’m doing.

I like this bike and think it's way better than the Indian. Forward controls are just awful. I actually bought a used Africa Twin and I love it. I think rider modes are overrated. I would put it in the most powerful mode and never change it. Been riding 50 years and never felt like I needed to dumb down the power on anything.
I agree that forward controls are awful, but I actually LOVE the rider modes! I’d love to have all the power all the time, but sport mode is VERY twitchy/snatchy at low speeds, so I set it to standard if I’m cruising through downtown or sitting in traffic. I’m sure once a company comes out with a fuel tuner for these things it’ll smooth all that out though and I’ll be able to keep it in sport with no issues around town 🤘🏻
Great review of why this thing is different. I've been wanting one but the price for it is kinda high and I've always been a more classic cruiser guy. Soooo instead I'm looking at the Kawasaki Vulcan 900 classic

I rode a vulcan, not sure what size but it was probably the smallest one, and I was like wtf? Also reminded me of a sport bike.
For people who don't know Honda this is what they typically do. Like the CBR300R, CB300, and Rebel 300 share a lot of parts. They are not the same bike but they almost all try and be stander road bikes tuned to a specific application
My wife has the 500, 3rd summer coming up and I have my Heritage which I have had for 15 years.This week was time to drag the bikes out week and even though i have had the battery tender on the Harley I still wonder if its gonna fire up.Not so with the Honda.Never a doubt.It fires up like I been riding it all winter.Very dependable bike!

My first bike was a kawasaki vulcan S, traded that in for a yamaha fz 09 a couple years ago and as fun as the FZ is, I just miss the cruiser ergos man.. my next bike 100% is the Rebel 1100 though, literally everything I want in a bike
I got the same feeling about my rebel. More of a fun short ride around town, but if I did want to ride some place away from my riding area, I would put it on a trailer and bring it.
I'd say the Rebel 1100 is a Sportster 1200 with better reliability and liquid cooling. My Sportster is torquey as hell all the time and it wheelies no problem. It is an 883 with a big bore 1250 and a stage 1 tune so it gets you around 75-80hp which is about what a Rebel 1100 is and a 1250 will outrun a 2017 MT07 but lose on gearing when the MT overtakes at 140kmh and keeps going to 220kmh while I top out at 160kmh.
It's a Modern Cruiser that is fine on the Highway as that's what Cruisers do!
Your engine makes power. Your gears make torque. First gear makes a lot of torque and little speed. Sixth gear makes little torque and a lot of speed. The engine power doesn't change by changing the gear.
What you are feeling is power to weight. Your bike may make less power at low rpm than an HD, but it weighs considerably less. Consequently, it accelerates a little faster.
Well Burch, what can I say.... The 1100 is a sport cruiser, emphasis on Sport...... It's a light cruiser like my Bolt, which Yamaha refers to as a Sport Heritage Cruiser. Me, I just call it a Naked Cruiser... Stay Safe, Ciao.
I really want one of these (the DCT version) but I would prefer belt drive because lack of maintenance so I have a question…. How often do you clean, lube and tighten your motorcycle chain? I hear different things, some say every 600 miles others say maybe once a year. I just want to know your opinion on this particular bike. Is it really necessary to do it every 600 miles?? I have a totally different bike (2019 MT07) but I'm definitely lacking in chain maintenance. Maybe a couple times a season. Hasn't caused any issues (yet 👀)

Yeah I was thinking about getting my 16 year old daughter one of those, but she doesn’t really want a girls bike so we settled on a GSXR750.
I like the parallel twin more there is a clearer separation to the firing pattern where v twins obviously get some overlapping sounds to their firing pattern

It all has to do with the crank. Harley is single pin at 45 degree cyl. My ACE 750 is a single pin. But 52 degree cyl. T burners are a twin with a 270 crank. Then theresy yours. It's a twin, but it has a 180 degree crank.

If you’re coming from the crotch rocket world to the cruiser world like I did, either the Indian Scout or the Rebel 1100 would keep you happy. The only reason why I opted for the Indian is because it has forward controls, which in my opinion makes it more comfortable. My girlfriend has a rebel 500. It’s a great bike, but thanks to the mid controls, it feels a bit sport bike cramped for me.
Can always install forward controls if you want

I'm of a similar mind. I wish they made it more of an upright naked bike. I would never own a Harley, just because that's not how I want people to see me, (and I would never spend that much money on a motorcycle). In fairness to Harley though, they are putting a lot more technology in some of the newer bikes, particularly the big touring bikes. If you really want a big heavy bike to get on and ride for a couple of thousand miles, and you don't mind paying $40,000 for it, Harley has never been a better choice.
If you can rent/borrow a Honda Shadow 750 side by side to this I think it would create a very clear visual for the comparison. Both hondas, both cruisers but different

Is actually for beginners, the only thing I would say is that if you’re thinking for long rides. Idk bro, I think there is other choices, my brother has one and is more like Going to work and back home bike. The reason why I say the long trips is because after an hour you gonna fell your ass falls off lol💀.

Hey, have you looked at the Depretto Moto forward controls? They are supposed to be more stable than the T-Rex Racing FC kit, but not adjustable. Do you think FC would be what is needed for long distance? Maybe with the Honda batwing fairing?
Burch, would you mind doing a comparison video with the Triumph Bobber? I see everyone comparing the Rebel to the Sportster S and the Street Bob, but honestly, the Bobber just seems to be closer in terms of engine performance.

The rebel falls within the ranks of a Harley sportster or an Indian scout. Both are cruisers but are smaller and more nimble than traditional cruisers.
OK. First off the big bikes you keep referring too are not cruisers there tour bike, big difference. The rebel is a great bike to hold the title of cruiser cause it's not fast enough to be a sport bike yet not big enough to be called a tour bike, it just sits comfortably in the middle as a bike that's fun and comfortable to ride in and around town........... Cough though I would like to see it go a little more towards the sport/cruiser category and have the same power that the African Twin bike that the engine came from has.OK. This is getting to long so I'll stop it here lol.
I see you have your jacket and helmet listed in the description, but I’m more curious about your gloves. I live in Cleveland and it gets chilly. I bought a pair of gloves that are designed for snowmobile and other winter moto activity, but even in 45 degree weather, my fingers freeze after about 45 minutes of riding. I really want to stretch out my riding season, but I can’t do that if my hands are numb! What are you using?
I checked this out after a dealer suggested it. I live on a mountain and need a larger engine also take a lot of road trips. After watching this I’m not sure if it’s what I’m really looking for. Also looking at an Indian scout hoping someone sees this and gives me a suggestion :)

These light weight sporty "cruisers" are were it's at my bolt is v twin but it rips it's different then the other cruisers I'm been on. I can throw the bike thru a corner and iv had people on sport bikes say they never seen anyone ride a cruiser like that. I love ripping on them I'd like to try the rebel I'd imagine even tho different engines they are similar

One question: I wonder if I should switch over from my 2011 Fat Bob to the Rebel 1100 because I really like the sporty agility of the Rebel. My only concern is, if I can still do my multi day long range trips (350 - 450 km per day) with this bike (due to small gas tank and comfort). Can you also recommend it for that? Or do you see it more as a daily commuter and short range trip bike?

It absolutely still can do long trips! Will it be as comfortable and practical as your Fat Bob on those longer trips? Probably not. BUT the trade off is the sporty agility you’re looking for. This bike really feels like a “jack of all trades” kind of bike. As for the small gas tank, I get about 125 miles out of mine with my daily mixed riding, so you can expect a bit more on strictly highway trips. Not a huge number by any means, but it at least gives you a reason to get off and stretch every two hours 😂
Check out Quasimotard’s channel if you haven’t already! He took his Rebel 1100 on a 3,000 mile round trip to come to my meetup last year! On the way up here he knocked out over 1,000 miles in one day! 😳 He’s definitely a GREAT resource for any questions about the Rebel’s long distance practicality! Hope that helps 🤘🏻

I ride about 125 days to work (100km forth and back) where the agility will be great and do only one multi day trip a year for round about 3-4,000 km where I have the downside. The wind isn’t bad at all! The bike’s nice and stable even in stronger winds. After an hour or two at highway speeds I start to get some fatigue in my neck, but I’m sure a windscreen would easily solve that. I just haven’t found one I like yet!
