  • As you may know, I’ve been on the search for the best two-up seat for the Honda Rebel 1100. Given that Corbin makes the most expensive Rebel 1100 seat, and they’ve been around longer than any other company who makes seats for the Rebel 1100, I thought that they may finally be the answer to my problems and have the seat that I was looking for.
    I was wrong.
I used to LOVE Corbin seats, but after this experience…I just don’t know anymore. The issues with the seat are one thing, but Corbin’s total lack of regard for their customers is another thing.

Be warned, I know someone personally who had their frame scratched by Corbin’s solo seat as well, then switched to the Mustang seat and loves it. Plus, for the $600+ price tag, you can DEFINITELY find better out there for just a solo seat! You could find a local upholstery shop to redo your seat exactly how you want for a fraction of the cost and still get to keep the helmet hooks since you’d be using your stock seat pan! Or the Mustang solo seat is sub $400. I appreciate the kind words by the way! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thank you for that, it is always useful to learn that sort of thing from someone else's experience.
A born again rider, my last bike was 2003 CB 1300.( loved it) Had about 10 bikes from 1973, never a real sportsbike, nothing like a cruiser and nearly all Japanese. (4 UJM's, litre or larger capacity) from the mid eighties onward.
I like the idea of the rebel and the anticipation and planning of a new bike is as sweet as ever, it should be fun. Given that I am not good at I.T. and not particulary cashed up, (I don't live in the US, the bike is $21,000 here so you can you extrapolate what that seat would cost) an experience as you report would be incredibly frustrating. I have allowed for some after-market goodies, (your two-brothers' exhaust is a must) and would have trusted corbin just because I recognise the name from way back.
It's already too late to have the bike and goodies before Christmas.
Buying, ordering, paying, waiting, and anticipating the best (and only) present I have ever bought myself, will be very, very, nice. Had I decided to order from corbins, maybe not so much.
    Again, thank you.

Great video. I wish I saw it earlier. I just bought a Corbin for the T120, but its made too far back and now have to stretch and lean forward for handlebars, the leaning then negates the reason I bought the seat so that it is a little taller and more comfortable. Although the firmness is nice, but it needs adjustment. I will see how the customer service is I suppose quite soon.

It's a damn shame when the OEM seat looks better than a seven hundred dollar seat. Banging heads with your passenger or being concerned with throwing them off definitely breaks the experience of riding. Nothing about making a quality seat should be rocket science. There were fit and finish problems on my Corbin 2-up. I had to add extra washers under the front U-bracket because the seat did not want to come off the bike once attached. I really had to struggle to get it to come off after the first time I attached it. There is also a tiny imperfection on one of the seams that I will eventually have to repair. I haven't and probably won't contact Corbin. Even if they agreed to fix it, shipping and waiting is too inconvenient for me. My last complaint is not Corbin's fault, but I really miss the easy seat removal now that I need a hex wrench every time I want to remove the seat. Two things I really like are the comfort and the looks. I can easily ride 90 minutes without my butt going numb which was impossible with the factory seat. I personally like the way the passenger seat is higher, not from a passenger comfort perspective which I haven't tested, but I think it makes the bike look more old school. No paint damage on my fender, but that's probably because there hasn't been any weight on the back. All-in-all I like it and will probably keep it, but they could have done better. As you discovered, their customer service is notoriously bad. You are kind of on your own after purchasing.

Try the Mustang Solo tripper Solo & passenger. I cannot vouch for the passenger seat, but my solo looks great, feels better. Made the whole riding experience more enjoyable especially when accelerating. I've put on over 1500 miles with this seat (over 5k on the 2021 bike) and it is far superior to stock. Not at all slippery and absolutely no damage due to beefy rubber bumpers. Plus, you get the original access to the storage.

I’ve thought about getting the Mustang set, but if I decide to stick with the two separate seats, I’ll probably just have a local shop redo the stock seats to my specs. I want to be able to keep the underseat helmet locks if I keep the two separate seats. I’ve sat on a Rebel 500 with a Mustang seat though and it was sooo comfortable! Definitely high quality stuff 👌🏻

Great video. I received my new Corbin seat for my 2022 Nightster. It does fit. The Nightster seat is hinged on one side to enable one to get to the gas cap. It may only be off 1/4”, but it will not lock . Their solution is the leave the seat bolts loose and to force the seat to lock. I have told them that it is time to make me a new seat. If they refuse, I will file a complaint with my credit card company and the BBB. Too bad, the owner of the seat could not do this. But since he leaves in Europe, I am not sure what recourse he has. I will keep in the the loop for their resolution.

I had a Corbin seat. I had it ordered with the bike from the dealer. I live in Central Florida about an hour away from the Corbin shop in Ormond Beach,Fl. The seat looked great on my bike but my Tushy doesn’t have eyes and after about 85 mile I started squirming on the seat in discomfort. I too as well thought maybe it needed to break in some. After a few months, no dice. I contacted Corbin. They said Up to one year from purchase Corbin will re-foam the seat with a less denser foam for no charge but I had to ship it to California at my expense as the Florida shop doesn’t do these repairs. So I ship it via Fed. Ex. I get the seat back about a month later. The seat was better but not by much. I ultimately sold the seat at 50% off its original cost. I happened to find a guy out of Virginia who took my original factory seat and built a custom seat that did the trick. Also, the guy had me sit in my bike and my wife took pictures of me on my bike as he wanted to see how I fit the bike. He asked my weight and height as well. Later on down the road I sold the bike just because I put allot of miles on her and I wanted to try something else. Now as I said, Corbin looked great but my tushy doesn’t have eyes. I’ve been riding for over fifty yrs. and I’ve had seat issues before with many brands. It’s almost like manufacturers know owners will be changing the seat just like changing the stock tires or shocks… If you ever sat on a stock Harley seat you’ll know what I’m referring to.

I ordered seats for my 03' GSX-R1000 and after a short time I noticed a slight poke through the seat over hard bumps or acceleration. It actually created a pin hole in the leather. I had to pay for shipping back to Corbin. It turns out the wrong length screws were installed during manufacture. All they did was change the screws, they didn't recover it and they they just sent it back. My position is that there was a manufacturing defect that caused the leather to be damaged. They needed to fix both. Its been years and 70,000 miles on that bike, that I will never sell. The seat is very comfortable and looks good from a distance, it's a shame I'll always see the hole and tell people why Corbin sucks. I told them they should fix the seat cover because I have many years of riding left. I have spent money on 4 other aftermarket seats since then and am about to buy a Sargents for my new GSX-S1000GT+. Corbin seats are also very heavy, if you're the type of person who buys a lithium battery to save weight then a Corbin seat is not for you. The seat pan material is thick and heavy like its out of the 1960's, made with old school techniques. They came up with a process that worked and never innovated afterwards. The Corbin Sparrow, is why the seats are so expensive?

I had a Corbin seat on my Honda Shadow and really enjoyed it, but I have noticed that people either love them or hate them. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground there. I was thinking about this the other day in relation to the 1100 Rebel. And where it really seems to be lacking is in both factory and aftermarket accessories. There is just not a lot of seats, saddlebags, fairings, etc.... You would think that as popular as that bike is and as long as it has been around now there would be more options for it.

    • @LifeOfBurch

Covid delays/complications have unfortunately played a big role in lack of parts support, and companies are more focused on getting parts for their flagship bikes versus working to get new parts made for new bikes 😔 Why spend time making parts for the new Rebel that *might* sell, when you can just keep making Dyna parts that you *know* will sell? Fortunately though, I’m pretty stoked on the parts I’ve put on my bike so far AND I have insider info that a big name brand has several fairings coming soon 😬

I had a corbin on my Ninja 1000. I loved the way it looked. It was freaking gorgeous. It was so uncomfortable, though. When I contacted them they told me to keep using it and it would break in. I did that. It never got better. I replaced it with a seat from another brand and decided corbin sucked.

Yea I recently bought a seat from Corbin for my mt07. I've put around 2800 miles on it at this point, the seats are firm to begin with for sure... they do break in like a good pair of work boots though. I didn't have any issues with my seat snapping into place, no damage. I watched your entire video and it sounded like most of the cons from the seat was weighed in favor of the passenger experience. The gunfighter lady backrest seat that I bought works like a charm and would probably have been better suited for anyone wanting to frequently carry a passenger.
Another difference between my seat and that one, was I bought the Vinyl seat. The stock seat from the MT07 was hot garbage, you'd slide around everywhere and was so uncomfortable after around 40 miles. I bet the leather corbin seat was just as bad if not worse for slipping around. But the Vinyl seat has been a dream. The customer service was funny.... I'm not sure why your buddy didn't immediately ask for a different contact. If they can't open a image from a email... I would've want someone else.

I was considering buying a Corbin product a while back. I called their customer service for information. It sounded like a young teen girl answering my call which is fine but she couldn't answer my questions and when she was transferring my call, she hung up on me and did call back.
That's one of the reasons I didn't buy from Corbin. The other was their prices and shipping costs combined with their customer service.

Timely video. In Australia we can only purchase Corbin through a distributer.I got the seat and a tail tidy for a Sportster S. I never disdain someone else's experience, I would be unhappy if that were the service I got. Mine was totally the opposite though and I just replaced the Tail Tidy today at Corbins expense, all the way over here in Australia, airfreight and all. The tidy had a stress fracture prior to fitting (hidden behind the numberplate but I was concerned it would extend over time with vibration). They remoulded, repainted and resent it. They lost money on that transaction. I personally can't speak more highly of the service I got. As for the seat sliding issue, they are custom and you choose the top leather and style for the saddle. My Sportster S has the exact same saddle pictured under Gunslinger, the top leather is not smooth at all. Again, I am not dismissing your experience at all but my own experience was really good. I did not expect them to lose money on the part.
