China quickly retreated because, again, there was a serious logistics issue to sustain its force on the other side of the WALL. 4) But India would use this minor 1962 armed conflict to create a security narrative that there is a "Scary Northern Dragon" ready to invade India. So, we Indians need to be united and fight that dragon! With this narrative, the Indian government can distract its people from domestic issues, when the needs rise. Indian military will use this security narrative to squeeze for more government funding. Indian media will use constant reporting on this scary neighbor to get more views. "China Threat" becomes an industry for many people. Of course we cannot give up this industry for "peace." Peace won't make money. Scare does. 5) More than four years ago, Modi gambled that Trump would be in office for yet another 4 years, and even more years if his VP win after he leaves the office.
