so glad you saw sense and grew out of this crazy opinion 🤣🤣 can you feel my heart, and this this album is what got me into this band, and I'd been introduced to this band by my daughter with, That's the spirit album 1st, and really want keen on them. I was very ignorant about their sound and didn't get it, now I love that album just as much, even love alot from the amo album, and survival horror. 😱 soooo good. dam even the maybe song with MGK has grown on me, and I hate that cheesy blink 182 sound, still do, but oli's part in it is what had changed my view. do you ever do reactions to be songs. never seen you do that? that for me personally would make this listening more appealing. their videos are amazing and good to react too also. 😁
I initially hated Jordan Fish (BMTH's keyboardist) because I felt he made the band soft, but looking at their stuff now, he's actually played a really big role in their sound, and helped them develop a "genreless" style that I really like.
Thats the spitit was hated, a lot of people accused BMTH for "selling out", but it is a big step in the band, evolving in new poppy songs. I personally love that's the spirit
I LOVEEE the subtle electronic aspect of this album so much. It’s just a perfect balance of everything to me from sampling, synth, glitches, vocals from screaming to whispering, emotion, and unapologetic strong lyricism. I loved it the first time I listened to it 😿 🏜🐢
Took me a long time to appreciate BMTH, but they have definitely become one of my favorite bands after I got over listening to the opinions of all my other fellow metal elitists. 😅
Not a big BMTH fan but goddamn if Sempiternal isnt one of my favorite metal albums of the 2010s its one of the few albums I dont skip or tune out a single song its an amazing album
I'm so happy that you decided to do a redemption review of this album. In my opinion BMTH are a inconsistent band overall but Sempiternal is a genuine masterpiece and definitely their best project outside of Post Human: Survival Horror. One of the best fusions of metalcore and electronica I've ever heard and the sonic pallet really reflects the brutal lyrical arc of Oli Sykes trying as hard as he can to push himself through his struggles with addiction. Its just such an emotionally captivating album that hits me hard every single time i give it a listen.
I have to thank you for getting me into BMTH and Brand New. Some of my most listened to albums of the past few months have been Post Human Survival Horror and Science Fiction.
aw man, a there is a hell review would be cool as hell too. i think i've outgrown sempiternal a lil bit after all these years (i used to think it was my favourite album lol) but the album previous to it still stands as one of the best metal records i've ever heard aaaahh also i would have NEVER thought of that seen it all before / brand new comparison, holy shit it actually sounds like them a little bit
Great record. I really admire what this band has done with their career. I don't like all of it, they've gone a bit too electro/poppy at times (for me), but they've really explored where they want to go. Good on them. One of my biggest regrets was seeing them at Download (2014, I think), where the mic wasn't working for half of the set. Fucking nightmare!
BMTH has become one of my favorite bands in the past year (especially with the release of SURVIVAL HORROR), they've taught me the true value of electronics and production in music which I've previously been indifferent on. Since you gave this a 5/5, I can't wait to hear it all!
Hot take with their record rankings, butttt... 1. There Is A Hell 2. Post Human SH 3. Sempiternal 4. CYB 5. Amo 6. Suicide Season 7. That’s the Spirit For the record I love all of their records, minus That’s The Spirit. It always struck me as generic and not that innovative minus a couple tracks (Avalanche and Doomed). Suicide Season was very messy, with some super high highs (Chelsea Smile, Diamonds, Comedown, Sadness, SS) and super low lows (the rest). Amo was an amazing record, just not quite my thing. Still respect it and love it though. Top song for me by far In The Dark. Now CYB is where I’m gonna get some flack. I think CYB is one of the best deathcore records of all time. Yes the lyrics are cringy, but musically it is pretty damm good for 17 year olds. Reminds me a lot more of Melodic Death Metal than most deathcore, which is probably why I like it so much. Medusa is their opus on that record. Sempiternal, Post Human, and There is A Hell are all top notch albums in there genres. Honestly, you could swap them around imo. I don’t have much to say about sempiternal that hasn’t been said before, and John really put my feelings best on it. I personally think TIAH is a bit better songwriting wise (not by much), but the production is much better on Sempiternal with the indirection of Jordan. Best song is either Hospital for Souls or Go To Hell. Post Human: SH is so fucking good. Holy shit. Every song slaps. Front to back. It truly is the perfect album for the time we live in with the themes of anger, isolation, and guilt. Each song on paper shouldn’t flow, cause each song is a different genre; but the common use of the eerie Mick Gordon synths ties it all together. 1x1 made me cry when I first it heard it because of the lyrics. Best song for me 1x1. However There is a Hell will always be my number one spot, as the lyrics on the record resonated with me when I was at my darkest point, a very similar situation to the one Oli was in. I’m not gonna say the record saved my life, but it sure as hell made me not feel so alone. Along with this, just musically the songs are extremely well written. Best song is so hard. Crucify Me, Anthem, It Never Ends, Fuck, Don’t Go, Home Sweet Hole, Alligator Blood, Blessed, Fox and the Wolf? The only weakish song is blacklist, but it’s a fun jam nonetheless and is placed very well in the track listing. Sorry for the rant, I’m bored with no college classes rn to occupy me XD
I respect your opinion but personally I like That's the Spirit more than Sempiternal. Sure TTS has a lot of soft tracks but for some reason I just like it more than Sempiternal. I love deathcore and BMTH, but Count Your Blessings just sucks. Pray for Plagues is the only redeemable track on the album. Whitechapel and Slaughter to Prevail are good examples of deathcore if you’re ever interested.
Take this from somebody who actually enjoys some deathcore, like iwrestledabearonce, Ion Dissonance, Born of Osiris, Carnifex, Lorna Shore (if you can separate art from the artist), Whitechapel, (is The Acacia Strain deathcore?), Veil of Maya: Count Your Blessings is downright awful and unlistenable. Bring Me the Horizon is still overall a good band though.

Easily my favourite album of all time. I will never forget the feeling I had upon first listen; it was like no other. I even got the album with the lyric book and I cherish it, but it will always pain me that they ruined the best lyric in the whole album by using "could of" instead of "could have" 🤦♀️
Sempiternal is BMTH's best album to date, and it was also the one that got me into them. (Their first three didn't do much for me.) I do see the comparisons to Brand New in "Seen It All Before", and that's a compliment, speaking as a fan of both bands.
Fully agree, say what you want about BMTH but this album is a masterpiece. I was obsessed with it in high school, and I could still listen to it front to back any day.
Watch/5 lol I’m dead 😂 this might be my favorite album of theirs. This was one of the best reviews I’ve seen in a long time! Fantastic job Jon! Keep the good videos coming like always! -Nathan
@@ouroboros6666 Well the thing is I was in elementary school when this album came out and I was going through a pretty big EDM phase from 2013 to 2017 lol
A great album for sure but I personally couldn't go back to the some of the studio versions of the songs after hearing the Royal Albert Hall live versions. Especially Antivist! 🔥
The part in the old review where you were warning young viewers about the “harsh language” was so weird, that doesnt feel like you at all! Just shows how long its been lol.
Yesterday I listened to this album again (also my favourite "metalcore"-album ever now) and as it came to Antivist I remembered your little guidance for the "younger listeners"😂 Seen the review back in the day when it came out, and purchased the album shortly after. Eight years ago damn...
At the time I basically skipped Sempiternal but I have loved a lot of more recent 'Bring Me', and the recent remix for Can You Feel My Heart has me really appreciating the original track so I'm thinking I probably should give the album a proper listen!
Can you do a redemption for Collide With The Sky? I know you gave it a 5/5 back then and and it is a 5/5 Album still, but I still want you to explain and why it's one of the best Rock Albums of the 2010's
Yeah, I was actually thinking of ranking the album for it's 10th anniversary next year though but we'll see! I might do a live stream tier ranking of it before I do a full worst to best though.
The addition of Jordan was exactly what they needed. I’d argue that it’s to this day the last great metal core record. But in recent years bands like Code Orange, Knocked Loose and Vein (the list goes on) have been absolutely killing it
Definitely a much improved review on an amazing album! Would you ever consider doing a throwback review for There Is a Hell, by BMTH. I consider it to be their most underrated album. It doesn’t get the love or recognition it deserves because it was such a departure from their previous albums. Would love to know your overall thoughts on it!
While I'm kind of past this band at this point, I still think this is a pretty good album (although I still think TTS is their best by a mile, it used to be in my top 5 favourite albums, now it's probably still in my top 10). However I find a couple of tracks I used to love so painfully edgy I don't come back to them a lot at this point, namely Can You Feel My Heart and Seen it All Before
Sempiternal is one of my favorite albums of all time from one of my Top 10 bands. This album just fucking goes for throat while also taking the time for emotional reflections on ones self. It’s easily their best album 5/5. Also, can we agree that Deathbeds is one of the most beautiful yet painful songs to listen to? I low key want this on my future wedding playlist
Best bmth album for sure. On a different note, I didn't really vibe with post human that much. I like each song on it individually, but as a whole it isn't really cohesive
There is a hell believe me i've seen it there is a heaven l'ets keep it a secret, is the best bmth record in my opinion, sempiternal is okay, i like thats the spirit more 🤷

I even got the album with the lyric book and I cherish it, but it will always pain me that they ruined the best lyric in the whole album by using "could of" instead of "could have" 🤦♀️
Last time I saw this channel he still had a shaved baby face.
newbie, snding my support watching ur video
Best album
My BMTH ranking
1. That’s The Spirit
2. Sempiternal
3. amo
4. Post Human
5. There Is A Hell To Believe
6. Suicide Season
7. Count Your Blessings
Sempiternal is BMTH's best album to date, and it was also the one that got me into them. (Their first three didn't do much for me.)
I do see the comparisons to Brand New in "Seen It All Before", and that's a compliment, speaking as a fan of both bands.
There is a hell
That's the spirit
Sempiternal
Suicide season
Post human
Amo
Count your blessings
Fully agree, say what you want about BMTH but this album is a masterpiece. I was obsessed with it in high school, and I could still listen to it front to back any day.
It would be cool to see a review on Cavalcade by black midi. It’s quite possibly AOTY material for me.
Watch/5 lol I’m dead 😂 this might be my favorite album of theirs. This was one of the best reviews I’ve seen in a long time! Fantastic job Jon! Keep the good videos coming like always!

It’s like I’m sleepwalking...
could you review dancing with the devil the art of starting over?
Can you make a ranking of the Rise Against Albums. Would be cool😁
BMTH at their best
This is an album I still love 8 years on. And that’s rare. Jordan is an absolute genius.
Sempitermal
Post Human
Suicide Szn
Amo
Heaven Hell
That’s the Spirit
Blessings
I hate how this channel isn’t as big as that bald dude
I have yet to listen to the full album but The House Of Wolves is my favorite so far.
@@ouroboros6666 Well the thing is I was in elementary school when this album came out and I was going through a pretty big EDM phase from 2013 to 2017 lol
@@ouroboros6666 I've already listened to a fair amount of their stuff, including Pray For Plagues.
@@ouroboros6666 I love Post Human
A great album for sure but I personally couldn't go back to the some of the studio versions of the songs after hearing the Royal Albert Hall live versions. Especially Antivist! 🔥
The part in the old review where you were warning young viewers about the “harsh language” was so weird, that doesnt feel like you at all! Just shows how long its been lol.
This album is just 🤌🏻✨👏🏻🤌🏻✨
Would love to hear what you think of Jeris Johnson, I’m indifferent but starting to lean towards not really liking the dude.
Yesterday I listened to this album again (also my favourite "metalcore"-album ever now) and as it came to Antivist I remembered your little guidance for the "younger listeners"😂 Seen the review back in the day when it came out, and purchased the album shortly after. Eight years ago damn...
About time this was the best album from BMTH
At the time I basically skipped Sempiternal but I have loved a lot of more recent 'Bring Me', and the recent remix for Can You Feel My Heart has me really appreciating the original track so I'm thinking I probably should give the album a proper listen!
My favourite album of all time.
If I made a "top albums of 2013" list back then, this album and Altered State by TesseracT would absolutely make that list.
Lol I have been waiting for this video since voting for it on the polls. 😄😄
We need to see a Radiohead and twenty-one pilots albums Ranked
I heard we will get Radiohead ranked after the next album drops.
However I find a couple of tracks I used to love so painfully edgy I don't come back to them a lot at this point, namely Can You Feel My Heart and Seen it All Before
My favorite band of all time best album in my opinion thoughhhhhh....
AMO
Sempiternal is one of my favorite albums of all time from one of my Top 10 bands. This album just fucking goes for throat while also taking the time for emotional reflections on ones self. It’s easily their best album 5/5. Also, can we agree that Deathbeds is one of the most beautiful yet painful songs to listen to? I low key want this on my future wedding playlist
Best bmth album for sure. On a different note, I didn't really vibe with post human that much. I like each song on it individually, but as a whole it isn't really cohesive
What are your thoughts on the extended edition? (Join the club, deathbeds)
I love this album. I also never liked them before it.
Am I the one who actually dislike Sandpit turtle?
the biggest backtrack ever wait 10 years and he'll start liking emmure

you were right when you told me not to worry about this review :D
There is a hell believe me i've seen it there is a heaven l'ets keep it a secret, is the best bmth record
in my opinion, sempiternal is okay, i like thats the spirit more 🤷
Coming from a big BMTH fan, Sempiternal is just There is a Hell... but not as great
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t think this is Bring Me’s best album
🙋♂️ - newest “ep” or even Amo to some degree
This was my favourite for a long time but it has been pipped by survival horror recently, although I do change my mind on which one is my favourite all the time so 🤷♂️
Every elitist metal head who can’t move past suicide season
@The Patriots And Steelers Are Raging Inside Me agreed 100%. If those albums are A+ ones, Sempiternal is an A
@@jacee8094 Suicide Season would be 2nd for me
Idk what Jordan was smoking when he tweeted that, but you sound nothing like Lloyd Grossman lol
:)
