It's not acrobatics but it's great to see a dancer who actually makes you feel as if you're looking at the Willi she's supposed to be acting as ♥️
It is Ferri who is the Willi for me. She is ethereal, other worldly. And unlike some of the Russians, dances through without awkward, unmusical changes in tempo.
All these are incredible especially Marianela, Vishneva, and Osipova.

Zakharova and Osipova are my favorite ballerinas but Natalia missed the music by going too fast and Svetlana was missing a je ne se quois IMHO. Ferri and Vishneva danced it to perfection, wonderful musicality!

It seems like she's always on a crazy race. She is very rough and always seems over caffeinated. This is classical ballet, not the circus.

I think it’s amazing that how every dancer portrays the character shines through in each recording, no matter how blurry they are. You can really see which ones are more sad, lost, or ghostlike

Vishneva, best combination of tragedy, ghostlike lightness, and precision I never tire of watching her...
My favourite was Sylvie Guillem. Her jumps were the most ghostly, she was almost suspended on air. Natalia Osipova also got that impression of being suspended. Closely followed by Alessandra Ferri

Yes, they are all very beautiful. However, out of all of the dancers Osipova was able to perform it very fast yet very delightful (Faster turns, stronger leaps, and better technique). Even most professionals cannot do that. Osipova is also one of the most famous ballerinas in the world because of her other variations. And they are speechless. That is why she is getting a lot of attention and love. For the in synch part that could also be the conductors fault and dance hasn’t have to be 100% in synch. But yes, they are all talented and amazing dancers.😊

It is so interesting to compare. Vishneva and Cojocaru seem to show something unnatural as if they were made to dance that way because they were spirits not human anymore. Osipova is supernatural herself!
Great compilation, thanks. I loved Vishneva and Cojocaru. I agree that both seemed to "snap" from one altered state to another as they became wilis, and supernatural is an apt description. I particularly liked Vishneva's downward gaze. I have seen both Vishneva and Osipova as Giselle and as much as I love Osipova, I think Vishneva is second only to Makarova as Giselle.

@Rehmat Kaur I agree marianela has great technique but her expressions are just bland and I get incredibly bored watching her giselle. She just doesn't compare with Osipova
best Giselle entrance Galina Mezentseva , nobody catch that level yet, Osipova close , but I don't know why conductor can't catch Osipova tempo, always late conductors.
That's funny with Svetlana Zakharova, I loved her on the lady of the camellias, very dramatic, tragic but here and on several more classical role suddenly I see the robotic mechanical emotionless people are talking about. She can pull off emotions, dramatic, she is my favorite Lady of the Camellias, even Agnes Letestu is not moving me as much, but yeah I don't know it's been several more classical role where I suddenly does not see and feel the emotions with Zakharova.
But I love those comparison videos, it really does shows the impact of style I think and each dancer and how they can be all good and we still are going to like one more than the other. Every video comparison for me reinforce my preference for the Russian style and makes me forget the small negative things I see into it. But it's also making me see dancers I would not have seeked out without it !

Osipova is technically very personal, but you can't ever forget when you saw her in Giselle.
For this compilation, Diana, Svetlana and Natalia stood out. Overall Giselle, Diana Vishneva is all time best 🙏😍💓💖💞

What I don't get is why Osipova is such a turn-on for so many. The only good are the jumps, and even these are thrown too much sometimes. There's no 5th, no control, sloppy feet, and the only time I saw her having expression was as Gamzatti. Dancers like Ferri was always full blood 100%

We all have opinions but the way that she makes things look easy and her differences is what makes her a turn on for many people. She’s my favorite ballerina and she just has the it factor where she’s exciting to watch.
Exactly what I mean - she actually looks the heaviest for me. Not light or easy at all. But well... I will keep on avoiding watching ballets with her. There are many other options.
@@bjoerndippon4915 if you avoid watching ballets with her then you’d obviously think that. Her arms and hands are extremely gentle especially in her Giselle.
@@noellerobin9896 I did watch ballets with her, that's why I know that I don't like her. You really think I have an opinion of something I don't know? So, agree to disagree thst she'sa great dancer. I stick to my opinion. Semionova, Nuñez, Ferri, Smirnova and many others are way more up on my list of great dancers, since they are clean dancers as well.
Vishneva understood the assignment! Superb job to her!
Osipova was lacking in the musicality department BUT her leaps-when they are suspended for that .1 second. It looks like she is flying. So I can mostly forgive the musicality. *Especially* with how well she uses the power in her upper body.
The others lacked the necessary “unbridledness” this portion of the dance requires, although there are several honorable mentions.
I was sorta shocked with Svetlana in this piece. She wasn’t bad but I guess she’s set the bar very high for herself. I wasn’t blown away by her performance, which I normally am.
I prefer Svetlana's variation on the Bolshoi
Olesya Novikova is not included, she is my favourite Giselle. So light, vulnerable and beautiful. Iana Salenko is also gorgeous

Cojocaru, Zakharova and Obraztsova. The others are all too strong and sturdy for weightless and airy being even though technically and precision wise great .
The entire point of this moment is that Giselle is now a supernatural being... she's no longer human. And that's what Osipova communicates so perfectly (and Vishneva as well). She is no longer in control of herself... she's a fantastical creature, not a ballerina.
Not to me. She's not ethereal nor airy like a silphi should be.
Same... Osipova to me seems like the only one who doesn't control, but throws her body around. No grace, no mystic.
I find Ferri has exactly that. Always loved her as Giselle.

Наталья Осипова - единственная Жизель, которая передает упоение героини стихией танца и в первом и во втором действии. Танец для нее на первом месте, потом любовь, и нет места печали. Достоинство,бесстрашие, полет - такой жизненной силы и убедительности в этом сказочном персонаже я не видела у других балерин.
Когда она танцует, кажется, что главные события истории Жизели еще впереди. От ее Жизели всегда невероятный заряд оптимизма, мастерство служит этой сверхзадаче.
Согласна с Вами. Для меня Осипова - лучшая Жизель. Когда увидела первый раз, просто дыхание перехватило. Недавно еще и в реале любовалась ею в "Жизели".

Osipova had more respect for tempo/musicality when she was in a more rigid institution aka Bolshoi. After she left she had enough stardom to convince American/British companies to let her do whatever she wants & started dominating every piece, both in sense of her astonishing physical abilities and unfortunately in music. I admire her tremendously but the little regard she now gives to following the tempo drives me mad.
