- In this week's guitar lesson you'll learn how to play several classic Willie Nelson guitar licks. I'll show you how to connect them to basic chord shapes so that you can use them in any key.

Pretty damn impressive here. It’s tough to play in the style of anyone other than yourself, but Willie is just completely off the radar. I can actually imagine him playing that exact solo on a tune. Well done, brother!
Excellent playing . Willie's Guitar Playing is Awesome .Has a Style all of his own. Soon AS you hear the sound on Trigger , you know it's Willie
The intro is wonderful ! When I can sit-down a little longer this fall, I need to buy a set of new strings and learn to play like this. Thank you!
I love Willie's sound!!! He's a master of using chord tones in his solos; so musical and at the same time, unique.
I truly appreciate you and intend to sign up after Easter. I will be busy until then. I find myself using nuggets I have picked up and I am grateful and ready for a deep dive. You are amazing. I have played for decades and always learn new ways from following you. I hope you see this!
This lesson is pure gold!
Pretty sweet little groove. I like that you can leave as much space as you want while goofing off with this style
great lesson very clear, love the acoustic stuff
More country please Brian. Love this stuff 🇦🇺⛺🐎🤠👍
Great lesson. Willie's style is awesome. I'm glad he's still alive out there drinking his CBD-infused coffee and playing
GOD Bless you Brian! Sounds great and really sounds like Willie!
Another one of your great lessons, so easily explained
That was beautiful... great job!
First of all you need a nylon stringer and then it needs 2 sound holes
Intervals in tasty practical context. I love your videos, thanks.
Wow , fun stuff, this is why I am an active melody member
Thanks. I love his stuff.
Superb and awesome lesson Brian. Love to learn how to play "Blue Eyes c I t r" that grate song of W.N.
Great stuff!..nice little melody going on there...
You packed a lot into that. Well done.
Amazing
Great vid Willie is super melodic!
thats beautiful!
Another amazing lesson
Another awesome one BRI!!!!!
Sounds ok on Tele! Not crazy bout white background tho. Once you go Black, you never go back!! Great lesson.
You make it look so easy. Even though I wrote down the notes and tried following them, it sounded nothing like how you play it. I hope I can get there eventually.
The MP3 Jam Tracks are so helpful.
Great Lesson. Thanks for breaking it down
Wow. I got a lot out of this video. Thanks!
Feeling happy 😊
Love it keep up the quality teaching, I would love to play like Willie
Great stuff!!! Thank you!✌️❤️
oh man, I really like this..thanks for sharing...
Just wondering how any one could give that a thumbs down. Very cool.
Nice lesson... but, to be REALLY authentic, you need to knock a few holes in your guitar top.
Mycroftsbrother haha good point
If you can do better, put a video by yourself. Otherwise don’t criticize Brian who is the best teacher online.
@@samv5810 You've never heard of Willie Nelson or seen his guitar? Whooosh!!! At least Brian got the joke.
Great job!
Awesome lesson brother
Your Awesome dude love it truly Bro
Can you do a follow up lesson on the Willie Nelson style of using jazz chords and the different types of scales he uses in his music?
Excellent
Thanks for this!.
Willie will be very happy with this rendition...give him more space and lessons on his style....May not pay well but you will be happy....your past active melody member..discontinued coz of country's restrictions.
You did good, it sound like willie!
Great video - no one I'd like to learn to sound like more than Willy. Super confusing about the chords and shapes - I don't know the first or second thing about chords. Hopefully I can come back to this video when I've learned some.
Awesome job. Thanks for this. Is that a Double-0 ? Great sound and really clear teaching.
I interpreted it as an A shape when I learned it... :-) got to rethink this one.
HEY,....SOUNDS ALRIGHT....GOOD OL FLAT TOP MARTIN....CAN'T BEAT EM.... THANX...
Adam Smith
I agree, Adam. Martin... the best.👍
Beautiful, very Willie-like! Can’t wait to get into this.
Raymond Hayhurst Yer I can't wait to get that Willie into my head
You are a good teacher, thank you a lot 💪🏻
Qiuyu Liu
I agree!!
Marc Román 😄
Marc Román 😄
Qiuyu Liu 👍🏻😘
Very nice, how about helping us work out a nice solo for the interlude in All of Me Willie Nelson version
Hey sport you can teach me anytime, I guess I am going to have to join your program!!! Awesome!!
👍🏼
I can't bar the three A chord shape strings cuz I broke my ring finger and it won't bend that way anymore. Suggestions?
This is awesome - is your camera messed up, or is it my iPad because the wide shots seems fuzzy. Maybe the white background is the issue. Great lesson!
a problem for me too... white was too strong but nice lesson
Great lesson, thanks! Willis playing is unique and hey, who's teaching this stuff?
HOW TO GET THE BASS THERE & LUCAS NELLSON
I checked the next part, but couldn't find.
What pickup is in your Martin?
L.R. Baggs Anthem
What kind of Martin is that?
CEO 7
Might be a 00L-17 though
It is a CEO-7. Used to have one, but did not get along well with the neck. Great guitar though!
I'd love to have one, if I could ever afford it.
You can probably pick up a CEO-7 for around $1500 if you are patient.
Nice licks the only bad part is it ended to soon---- I got this
Can you tell me the name of that song please?
Ох , хорош урок
A little too clean and perfect. Playing a worn out guitar helps.
Gobi Grey, I couldn’t agree more 👍
Willie doesn’t do or play things the same way twice or in specific timing as well. I find that showing some general licks and very generalistic styling of his playing is about the bed anybody can do to try and capture his style. He also incorporates a lot of Jazz techniques and augmented chords in transitions from chord to chord
I usually just play the Willie solo in Blue Eyes but I like yours better but don't tell Willie l0l . You play it like a soundtrack to a Western movie. BEAUTIFUL Martin. What year?
I won't mention that to Willie ;) that Martin is a vintage 2017
Willie invented that sound. He goes down a lot and his tempo is utterly erratic! Because he’s following his singing.
What is this guitar?
CEO -7
with an LR Baggs pickup.
@@abegarfield7638 thanks. Beautiful guitar btw
Why is he saying 9 fret when he's in 12 fret?
Brian. You can be depressing. You know so many styles, so many licks and with a touch on those licks that it might take me an hour to get close for an almost plausible imitation ...
Intro sounds nothing like WN. The syncopation is wrong, there’s no sweep picking, no harmonics or glissandos, no exaggerated bass line walks, and it is being played on a steel string. 5/10.
Bollox. He’s a writer. U can’t teach a masters work he’s famous for complicated g m 7ths. Etc. d min mixed. With very prominent a7ths minor . Etc. and very articulate , I need a smoke, u need to look at his actual real tabs
Everything he said was fine. He isn't teaching a songwriting class. He gives you ideas how Willie built something like the solo on blue eyes crying in the rain. He didn't do anything complicated in most of his playing. According to Willie less is more when it comes to guitar solos. Willie has perfect pitch and a lifetime of musical knowledge and experience. tabs? 😅
This is how you learn willie licks. Go watch django reinhardt.
