- Mary Kay Letourneau was a Seattle-area teacher who gained infamy after her 1997 conviction for second-degree child rape of 12-year-old Vili Fualaau. She was a 34-year-old mother of four when the rape occurred. They married in 2005 and had two children. Matt Doran sat down with the couple in a world exclusive. It’s sad when anyone that young dies, but I’m glad that Vili is finally away from her. You could see during the interview that she still had a great deal of control over him. My heart ached when Mary kept asking Vili, “Who’s the boss?” The look on his face made me want to cry. I’m glad he’s finally free.

The thing with this case is ...the media is surprised this relationship lasted for the couple decades that it did. When it should have fallen apart and been a story of abuse where he played the victim. It simply didn't work out that way. So media are doing what they do. they are picking holes in it. Casting a negative light because they can't afford to show it positively. if it was any other couple the editors wouldn't have highlighted the little spat they had on camera. It's a hit piece. This is the first Letourneau interview I've seen and it's breathtaking. If a school teacher doesn't know that having relations with a student is wrong, thalen that teacher is unfit for the job.
