- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused the U.S. of holding back weapons, saying it’s slowing down Israel’s offensive in Rafah, Gaza. President Joe Biden has delayed sending some heavy bombs since May because of worries about civilian casualties. Despite Netanyahu's complaints, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that only the shipment of 2,000-pound bombs is on hold, while everything else is still being delivered as usual.

To do otherwise would guarantee he ends up with the "antisemitic" label and he's terrified that it'd hurt his re-election chances. It's like when Democrats start talking about doing anything that actually improves the material conditions of their constituents and the Republicans call them socialists, leading them to immediately charge rightward in an effort to "prove them wrong." Even though they're just going to call them socialists, anyway. Which is also true of Biden and the "antisemitic" label. There's nothing anyone can do to be _too_ genocidal when it comes to Gaza, but even asking for 0.2% of a reduction in genocide is guaranteed to be labelled "antisemitic."
There's also a (much larger than one would initially suspect) contingent of American christians that, while the vast majority of them are lifetime Republicans, have a non-trivial presence in the Democratic voting bloc that believe the state of Israel has to exist for Jesus to show up and murder everyone. It's some real psychopathic, death-cult Bible prophecy shit but it's disturbingly popular in America.
